CULVER CITY, Calif. (9 de agosto de 2016) – Basada en un descubrimiento histórico que cambió la percepción de los seres humanos de la prehistoria, FINDING ALTAMIRA debutará en digital el 16 de septiembre y en DVD el 27 de septiembre de la mano de Sony Pictures Home Entertainment y Samuel Goldwyn Films. Antonio Banderas (The Legend of Zorro) interpreta a Marcelino Sautuola, un arqueólogo amateur que vive en la España del siglo diecinueve. Tras descubrir en una cueva una pintura paleolítica de un bisonte galopando, su hallazgo es inmediatamente desacreditado por la Iglesia Católica y señalado como una falsificación por los especialistas franceses. En una búsqueda por la verdad, Sautuola jura dedicar su vida a luchar por demostrar que las pinturas son reales y restaurar su reputación en medio de la polémica.

Dirigida por Hugh Hudson (Chariots of Fire, 1981), nominado al Premio de la Academia®, FINDING ALTAMIRA también está protagonizada por Golshifteh Farahani (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding), Pierre Niney (Yves Saint Laurent), Henry Goodman (Avengers: Age of Ultron) y Clément Sibony (The Walk).

When he discovers Paleolithic cave art of galloping bison, his findings are immediately decried as heresy by the Catholic Church and forgery by French specialists. Looking for the truth, Sautuola vows to spend his life fighting to prove that the paintings were real and to restore his reputation amid the controversy.
