Legendary Pictures’ Krampus, a darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul, reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday.

When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.

The horror-comedy also stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler.

Krampus and his mischievous underlings have been created by the combined efforts of Weta Workshop and Weta Digital, both renowned for their epic work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies and King Kong, among many others.

BIG STONE GAP was written and directed by best-selling author Adriana Trigiani (The Shoemakers Wife) with an all-star cast led by Ashley Judd and featuring Patrick Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, John Benjamin Hickey, Jane Krakowski, Anthony La Paglia and Jenna Elfman.

Adriana Trigiani, in her debut as screenwriter/director, brings her best-selling novel BIG STONE GAP to the movies. Shot entirely on location in Trigiani and Wilson’s hometown in the southwest corner of Virginia and set in 1978, the film brings to vivid life the story of proud working people and their lives in a coal-mining town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains.

The movie was produced by Academy Award winner Donna Gigliotti (SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK,) and James Spies. The cinematography is by Reynaldo Villalobos. The original music is by John Leventhal. Costumes are by Debra McGuire. Executive producers are J.E.Craig and Jean Morrissey.

Set in 1978, BIG STONE GAP tells the story of the ever-ordinary Ave Maria Mulligan (Ashley Judd) who lives a simple life with her mother, runs the pharmacy, directs The Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama, and hopes that Theodore Tipton, her best friend and the high school band director will take their platonic friendship in a romantic direction. Ave Maria waits, and before she knows it, she turns 40. Now the old maid of Big Stone Gap, Ave Maria decides that happiness is for other people – that is, until a long-buried family secret throws her quiet life spectacularly off-course.
