Dark Pop Artist VIANA Releases Debut Single “Wine & Roses,” Out NOW

img_9531

New dark pop artist Viana has released her debut single, “Wine & Roses,” out on all digital music platforms NOW. Most known as lead vocalist of the recently disbanded funky pop rock band Royal Street, Viana transforms into her own on “Wine & Roses”; it’s fierce, unconventional, and pristine. A lead in to an array of new music in 2019, “Wine & Roses” will follow with a music video later this month. Although just her first solo release as Viana, she has a clear-cut identity. A self-described ‘dark alternative-pop’ artist, Viana fashions an eerie, yet riveting sound on “Wine & Roses”. About the track, she states:

Wine & Roses is a song about losing yourself in what used to be. We get hung up on our past, and often times we let it put a negative hold on our future. As we live more and more, we learn more and more, and it shapes us into the person we are meant to be. Even the adverse times in our lives make us who we are in the long run. The song ends with saying “Keep the magic close, if it’s all you know. The wine will always flow.” Meaning keep your passions close to your heart and keep moving, and you’ll get where you need to be. All of the lessons you learn along the way will bring you there. The chorus proclaims, “ I’m stuck with visions of you” meaning that what happened in our past becomes a part of us…we don’t ever forget, but we can move onto better times while carrying the lessons we’ve learned.

Viana has been singing ever since she can remember. She was born in the summer of 1993. Raised on church gospel, classic rock and a touch of jazz , Viana’s vocals have morphed through the years into a sound uniquely hers. A decade of fronting pop-punk bands, starring in local musical productions and dabbling in some moderate witchcraft have been integral in the formation of the ethereal melody-machine that is Viana.

Viana’s sound can best be described as dark alternative-pop. Enchanting beats, flawless vocal runs and syrupy sweet lyrics are enough to wake the dead and get even the saddest bones moving. Her influences include other unique and strong female singer-songwriters such as Maggie Rogers, FKA Twigs, Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers and of course, our lord and savior, Beyoncé. With a style influenced by a combination of being a sucker for a catchy melody, yet still bringing a natural edge brought on by years of fronting rock bands, paired with her giant doe-eyes and freckles, Viana’s presence is one to pay attention to. Her gifts were shared while touring with past bands Sienna and Royal Street, playing to small groups in basements, and to crowds of 2,000+ enthusiastic and captivated show-goers.

Viana’s mission through music is to connect with all people and remember that self expression should be about going with your gut and listening to your own instincts. Growing up in a female fronted band always striving to be the next big thing brings an unnecessary pressure. These days, she creates what she wants and what feels most comfortable for her, and wants to help her listeners do the same. After ten years of collaborative work, Viana’s fierce independence has led to the shedding of her past skin and the incubation of this unapologetically Viana project: new, strange, and no-fucks-given. “Wine & Roses” is available on all digital music platforms NOW.

Pop Rock Band HAAS Releases New Single “Mama Always Told Me”

img_8562Virginia-based pop/rock project HAAS have released their new single, “Mama Always Told Me,” out on all digital music platforms NOW. Just the band’s second single (their debut “Behind Those Eyes” was released in February), HAAS has a clear identity. Approaching the pop/rock genre with confidence, lead vocalist Sam Haas injects the music with heart ache, power, and an authenticity that can’t be mimicked. Although new, HAAS knows their sound (think of a Kelly Clarkson/The Veronicas/Ashlee Simpson modern combo), and takes it on with emotion. “Mama Always Told Me” continues to paves the way for HAAS’ five-track debut EP, due out next month. About the single, lead vocalist Sam Haas states:

“Mama Always Told Me” is the second single off HAAS’ upcoming EP. This song is about my feelings towards important people in my life at that time and how hurt I was by their actions. This song describes what went down and how confused I was by it all.  These relationships were an immense learning experience and taught me that people aren’t always what/who you think they are. The final line “mama always told me you were never worth it” shows that number one, mom always knows best and secondly that you eventually learn and grow from situations that broke you.

HAAS is a pop/rock band from Virginia. The name HAAS stems from lead vocalist Sam Haas who decided to pay tribute to not only her family name but her late grandfather who inspired her through his music. After years of playing around with names and ideas, HAAS became the official name in 2018. Through the use of catchy melodies, rhythmic guitars, and expressive lyrics, HAAS has been able to marry the pop/rock sound. The group uses music not only as an outlet for themselves, but want the music to be an outlet for others. They draw on personal hardships, such as loss, strained relationships, bullying, depression, and anxiety, but also hardships within the world today. HAAS strives to promote a place of safety and inclusivity, where it is okay to be who you are and forget about the real world for a minute. HAAS has discussed being bullied and scared of being who they are and by embracing themselves, they hope to inspire others to do the same; “love who you are and don’t be afraid to do the things you want.” HAAS plans to release their debut five-song EP in the Spring. Their new single “Mama Always Told Me” is available on all digital platforms NOW.

HAAS Comes To Life In Debut Single “Behind Those Eyes”

img_6415

Virginia-based pop/rock project HAAS have released their debut single, “Behind Those Eyes,” out on all digital platforms NOW. After an extensive about of self-discovery and reflection, lead vocalist Sam Haas brings the project to life through a reflective set of lyrics in “Behind Those Eyes.” With the track’s music video release to follow on February 12th, HAAS approaches the broad pop/rock genre with ease; “Behind Those Eyes” showcases pulsing, rhythmic guitars and powerful lead vocals, reminiscent of 2000’s artists Kelly Clarkson and The Veronicas. The single paves the way for HAAS’ five-track debut EP, due out later this year. About the single, lead vocalist Sam Haas states:

“Behind Those Eyes” is the debut single off HAAS’ upcoming EP. This song is about the dynamics of my relationship with my sister, at a particular point in time, and how an outside influence was changing my perception of her. The song shows the emotional roller coaster that was a year of my life. It shows how an outside influence can have so much influence over someone. This is a song about my efforts to “save” her, but at some point, you have to stop trying and move on. Though this song is immensely personal, I believe that it can be applied to any type of relationship.”

Continuing she says, “The track is a different vibe to anything I’ve done before, it’s got more of a dance vibe to it and it’s the first song I ever wrote with my producer Chris Priest. It means so much to me and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!!”

Norwegian Songstress ISELIN Releases New Single ‘Lost’

RELEASES NEW SINGLE
‘LOST’
SPOTIFY / SOUNDCLOUD

Norwegian pop songstress Iselin has released her new single, ‘Lost’. A deeply personal track, it’s the follow up to her debut, ‘Bathtub’, released in June.

Heartfelt and affecting, ‘Lost’ builds through swelling, emotional verses into stripped back and honest choruses. Delicate, sweeping synths accompany Iselin’s vocals amid subtle production and infectious hooks, with haunting and poignant lyricism striking a touching chord.

“Lost is probably one of the most personal and emotional songs I’ve ever written,” says Iselin. “That terrifies me a bit to be honest, but at the same time it feels good to release something that just came straight from the heart. I wrote it with the amazing songwriters and producers Mad Fun (Fanny Hultman & Madeleine Eliasson), and it was a very special day for me in the studio. I think and hope the song speaks for itself, but mainly it’s about letting go of something that meant a lot to you, and how it affects you in so many ways when you know that part of your life is over.”

‘Lost’ is Iselin’s second solo release, following her debut single, ‘Bathtub’. Inspired by the same muse of honest lyricism that permeates her writing generally, the track was written about an emotionally tumultuous period of her life, and formed her own personal therapy. Throughout her writing, Iselin strives to create a universal and personal message that can be shared by her audience.

‘Lost’ and ‘Bathtub’ are the first releases from Iselin after she provided the vocals for Alan Walker’s huge hits ‘Faded’ and ‘Sing Me To Sleep’. Now returning with a wealth of new material, it’s clear that Iselin is ready to secure her place as a powerful new musical force.

I AM KARATE

‘NEWS’
VIDEO RELEASED
WATCH HERE

Highly acclaimed Swedish pop duo I Am Karate have released the video for their new single ‘News’. The video premiered with CelebMix who said, “I Am Karate are a fast rising pop duo from Sweden who are ready to takeover the world with their anthemic sound and slick productions. Their latest release ‘News’ is a massive pop anthem mixed with shimmering production, a bouncy tropical rhythm and a gigantic earworm of a chorus.”

The video features the pair’s lyrics, addressing a state of mind of their generation, scrawled in multicolour across pavements, buildings and more.

Regarding the single I Am Karate say, “This song is about a character who will do whatever it takes to shine in the spotlight on/at whatever (Instagram, work, etc.) She just wants people’s attention and it turns into a twisted self-destructive chase for her. We wanted to poke on that state of mind of our generation that has gotten so normalized by the emergence of social media and question what the hell we’re doing.”

The Stockholm duo (Erika Soldh Ahlström and Marta Petterson) have released a slew of singles which have seen them achieve huge praise from the likes of The Times, The Guardian and many more.

‘News’ is out now through the pair’s own label I Am Karate Music, and their hits have seen them win the Best Unsigned Award at the highly revered GAFFA Awards in their home country.

“Dark, shiny electropop from the Swedish duo — think Robyn produced by James Blake.”
The Times

“I Am Karate martial their artistry with aplomb. They will chop your head off, in the
nicest possible way, with their marvellously maudlin and mordantly mellow
mid-tempo melodies.”

DEARLY Premieres Music Video For Single “Get With You Alone”

IMG_0968

Just one month after the release of her debut single, indie pop powerhouse Dearly spawns pure beauty in the music video for “Get With You Alone,” out NOW.

Previously known as Amanda Jones, Dearly dropped her debut single “Get With You Alone’ (produced by Caleb Turman and Austin Bello) in May, and racked up a cool 15,000+ Spotify streams in just a few short weeks, gaining pop notoriety on her social media accounts.

A seamless blend of mainstream indie, soulful pop, and Top 40’s R&B, “Get With You Alone” is the perfect representation of Dearly’s rebrand, while simultaneously writing a rather melancholy, yet painfully honest, narrative about being in love with someone who is taken.

The music video is nothing short of stunning, adding to the already-pleasing package that is Dearly. Comprised of mostly close-up performance shots, Dearly successfully performs in conjunction with the tracks mood, an overall dark, yet authentic, take on adoring from afar. A seasoned pop veteran, vocalist Amanda Jones made the choice in 2017 to shift gears and bring to light her most authentic artistry through the stage name Dearly. About both the video and the success of the track thus far, Dearly states:

“For the video, I wanted to create something simple and dreamy- and I think we nailed it. The response to the single has been AMAZING so far- I’ve passed 15,000 streams on Spotify which has blown my mind. This is only the beginning and I’m so excited to see where  this new project takes me! I wanted the video to be on the simpler side, for viewers to really FEEL the song.”

23 year old velvet-obsessed indie pop artist Dearly wanted to adopt a stage moniker that encompassed every facet of her artistry; someone sincere, open, and deeply invested in her art. Inspired greatly by her interpersonal relationships, Dearly (previously known as Amanda Jones), promises a slick combination of dreamy vocal melodies and groovy baselines, her own personal artistic equation. Although well-seasoned in the music industry, having gone by her birth name on stage for many years prior, Dearly is approaching this new era rather personally, with a clear-cut indie-based vision showcased in her debut single “Get With You Alone.” Out 5/18, the track showcases her first dip into a candid style that is unapologetically her. She is Dearly.

Norwegian Singer ISELIN Releases Debut Single ‘Bathtub’

ISELIN

RELEASES NEW SINGLE
‘BATHTUB’
WATCH THE LYRIC VIDEO HERE

Fresh from providing vocals on Alan Walker’s huge hits ‘Faded’ and ‘Sing Me To Sleep’, Iselin returns with her debut solo release, ‘Bathtub’. Conceived after an emotionally tumultuous period in her life, the track is a call to take care of yourself.

A minimalistic pop gem, the track is an undulating voyage of glistening vocals and subtle production, with captivating melodies and an infectious chorus.

“I’d done the singer-songwriter thing for a while and all of my friends started to get educations and stuff, and I kind of got insecure about music for the first time… whether I should do it or not… it all got a bit too much”, says Iselin Solheim. “I felt a bit stressed a while ago, and at the time I was supposed to have many sessions in Stockholm. After one of my sessions I retreated to my hotel bathtub to unwind, and was inspired to write the track.”

Taking her inspiration back to the studio the next day, she found a musical affinity with the idea of taking a moment to find some serenity in each day. “I have to remind myself sometimes that I can just take away all the negative thoughts and just focus on good stuff… just find those moments”, says Iselin.

The sentiment transcended the song, forming her own personal therapy and helping to overcome the stress she had been suffering with, and is one that she hopes will connect with her audience.

Returning with this new single, and a wealth of material to follow, it’s clear that Iselin is ready to secure her place as a powerful new musical force.
