Actor Omar Chaparro Steps Up With One of the Most Iconic Pokémon in POKÉMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU

Written by Jesus Figueroa

Actor Omar Chaparro was surprised to have gotten to be a part of “Pokémon Detective Pikachu,” a movie based in the universe of the global phenomenon Pokémon franchise.

Although Chaparro has loaned his voice to cartoon characters, appeared in movies internationally and has a singing career, stepping into the role of Sebastian the Charizard trainer was something different.

The role which directly affects the storyline had Chaparro speaking lines in English, which is not his preferred language.

When Chaparro was cast, he took two months learning his lines and getting the tone of the character to a place where he was comfortable, then on set the director decided to change things up.

Chaparro said English may not have been his primary language, but he was excited to change things up and work to bring his character out in the best ways.

POKEMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU
(L-R) Charizard and OMAR CHAPARRO as Sebastian in Legendary Pictures’ and Warner Bros. Pictures’ comedy adventure “POKÉMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Getting the opportunity to partner up with one of the largest and most iconic Pokémon in the series was fun for Chaparro, even if he was not aware of the fandom behind it.

Charizard has a major fight scene in the movie and Trainer Sebastian has some words to say before the fight begins.

Chaparro was able to use his imagination as he was working with a partner that wasn’t even there, but he said he felt confident that he was able to deliver a performance fans of the franchise could enjoy.

Coming off a record breaking movie, “No Manches Frida ,” Chaparro hopes to keep the success going with Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Pokémon Detective Pikachu.”

There are many times when you get rejected, Chaparro said, but you have to make the best of the projects you do get and put everything you got. After all, I am doing what I am passionate about.

Chaparro goes on to host a show in Mexico, continue producing projects and on to his next role.

DIRECTED BY MAT HODGSON

We are thrilled to share with you the trailer for the highly-anticipated boxing documentary “I AM DURÁN,” featuring Roberto Durán, Sugar Ray Leonard, Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Mike Tyson, and several sporting heroes.

“I AM DURÁN” is directed by Mat Hodgson (The Four Year Plan, Night of the Fight: Hatton’s Last Stand) and features iconic boxing champion Roberto Durán sharing his life story with fans.

“I AM DURÁN” puts viewers in the corner of one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters ever and shows how Roberto Durán used his “Hands of Stone” to become a national hero and beloved son of Panama.

Roberto Durán is a boxing behemoth, a titanic figure with a career straddling five epic decades who is regarded as one of the most entertaining and skilled fighters of all time.

“I AM DURÁN” tells his story, inextricably interwoven with the story of the nation of Panama.

As Roberto Durán rose, fell, and rose again, staggering between glory and disaster, buffeted by the brutal blows of his opponents and of life itself – so did his beloved Panama.

A country brought to its knees as a pawn in violent regional and international politics and suffering from the harsh yoke of dictator Manuel Noriega’s ruthless regime, in its darkest hour Panama needed a hero, a voice and an identity.

Roberto Durán’s impact transcended boxing and politics.

Born a fighter, his success inside the ring transformed him into an icon, yet it was his flaws and failures outside the ring that made him a hero and continue to ensure that his universal appeal and popularity endure to this day.

Illumination’s tenth feature, “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 comedic blockbuster that had the biggest opening weekend ever for an original film, animated or otherwise.

Packed with Illumination’s signature irreverence and subversive humor, this new chapter explores the emotional lives of our pets, the deep bond between them and the families that love them, and answers the question that has long intrigued every pet owner: What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?

Terrier Max (Patton Oswalt) is coping with some major life changes. His owner (Ellie Kemper) is now married and has a toddler, Liam. Max is so worried about protecting the boy that he develops a nervous tic.

On a family trip to a farm, Max and mutt Duke (Eric Stonestreet) encounter canine-intolerant cows, hostile foxes and a terrifying turkey, all of which only elevates Max’s anxiety.

Luckily, Max gets some guidance from veteran farm dog Rooster (Harrison Ford, making his animated-film debut), who pushes Max to ditch his neuroses, find his inner alpha, and give Liam a little more freedom.

Meanwhile, while her owner is away, plucky Pomeranian Gidget (Jenny Slate) tries to rescue Max’s favorite toy from a cat-packed apartment with a little help from her feline friend, Chloe (Lake Bell), who has discovered the joys of catnip.

And crazy-but-cute bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart) gets delusions of grandeur that he’s an actual superhero after his owner Molly starts dressing him in superhero pajamas.

But when Daisy (Tiffany Haddish), a fearless Shih Tzu, shows up to ask for Snowball’s help on a dangerous mission, he’ll have to summon the courage to become the hero he’s only been pretending to be.

Can Max, Snowball, Gidget and the rest of the gang find the inner courage to face their biggest fears?

“The Secret Life of Pets 2” is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy, the visionary team behind Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch and the Despicable Me and Minions franchise, and is written by returning Pets screenwriter Brian Lynch. The film is directed by returning filmmaker Chris Renaud, who also directed Illumination’s Despicable Me series and Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. thesecretlifeofpets.com

Nelufar Hedayat uses her journalistic integrity through her investigation for STORY OF GOD

Nelufar Hedayat uses her journalistic integrity through her investigation for STORY OF GOD

Written by Jesus Figueroa

Journalist Nelufar Hedayat found that being a seeker for “Story of God with Morgan Freeman” was something very different from what she is use to, but being a journalist helped her be unbiased while on her assignment.

Religion can be an extremely sensitive subject, but Hedayat said that with her history of journalism she is able to put her own faith and believes aside and cover her topic for “Story of God.”

Hedayat visits the ruins of the ancient city of Pergamon and learns about the throne built for Zeus that Christians later dubbed “Satan’s throne” to demonize the old gods.

The role of investigative journalist was not going to work in this assignment, Hedayat said. To get something worthwhile she needed to step back from finding truth and rather find meaning which says is something much different.

The viewers of the show should watched with an open mind. A viewer needs to be patient and take in as much as possible to learn about themselves and about others around them as well.

“Story of God” is meant to be a way to accept others as others accept different believes as well.

Hedayat said that she was born in one of the poorest countries in the east and was able to study in one of the most diverse cities in the world and these amazing assurances have helped her gain a perspective which helped her not have a bias while pursuing this story.

Everyone has a story to tell and Hedayat said she was happy and honored to be able to hear these stories from people who shared them so willingly.

Hedayat said, that on a personal level, being part of “Story of God’ helped her to see that religions do not separate people, but rather they are all so similar and should unite people. These stories she was able to listen to helped her realize just how passionate people are about their religions.

Actor Bruno Bichir finds PERFECTOS DESCONOCIDOS (PERFECT STRANGERS) more complex, exciting

Actor Bruno Bichir finds PERFECTOS DESCONOCIDOS (PERFECT STRANGERS) more complex, exciting

Written by Jesus Figueroa

“Perfectos Desconocidos (Perfect Strangers)” has had a versión in several different languages, but actor Bruno Bichir finds that this universal story lends itself to take on sensitive topics in the Latino culture.

There’s flaws and differences in everyone, which this film touch upon magnificently, yet each character in this film the flaws are not exactly apparent until they consume the character.

“This character is so ambiguous that I, I love so much ambiguous art in any form, in any platform and in any way or shape,” Bichir said. “This character is so ambiguous because he seems like he’s honest, intelligent, sensitive and caring, but who know, the best liars perfectly lie.”

With the discovery of secrets from each character, the story seems to build up to a massive secret to be discovered, but it comes from an unexpected place.

Then as the characters come to another climactic moment another twist sends them to yet another unpredictable place which combines to present dilemmas and comments of some of the Mexican culture’s stereotypes.

“We Mexicans are very complex people. We deal with death and don’t know if we are laughing, crying, guilty or cynical,” Bichir said. “We don’t know if we are very open minded or very closed off.”

Bichir takes on a character that creates an opportunity for him to enforce the message of the story through subtleties in the way the character behaves.

Along with guidance from director Manolo Caro, Bichir establishes a character which many people can identify with.

This character is in every group of friends and if the audience cannot identify personally with him, they know the member of their friend circle which can.

“The first challenge is it’s me and everyone I know represented in this character. So, I thought I should be somehow me, me naked, obviously it’s not me, I’m not that character at all,” Bichir said. “In order to transmit, to transcend the message, feelings and thoughts of these situations and character, I thought I should be naked.”

After all that, Bichir is just one piece of the great puzzle which is put together in this film by a brilliant director and fabulous cast.

Through the scenes audiences can look at the characters on the screen and get caught up in such a manner that it is like peeking in on a group of friends.

The story is so universal that it has been recreated different times by different cultures in different countries.

“It seems all human beings are in the midst of that struggle,” Bichir said. “We are trying to open our hearts and minds to the new human beings we are all trying to be.”

These are first come, first serve tickets so please show up early to the screening.

In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss.

Emily Blunt (“A Quiet Place,” “The Girl on the Train”) stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

“Mary Poppins Returns” is directed by Rob Marshall (“Into the Woods,” “Chicago”).

The screenplay is by David Magee (“Life of Pi”) and the screen story is by Magee & Marshall & John DeLuca (“Into the Woods”) based upon the Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers.

The producers are John DeLuca, p.g.a., Rob Marshall, p.g.a. and Marc Platt, p.g.a. (“La La Land”) with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.

The music score is by Marc Shaiman (“Hairspray”) and the film features all-new original songs with music by Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman (“Smash”) and Shaiman.

The film also stars Ben Whishaw (“Spectre”) as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer (“Hugo”) as Jane Banks; Julie Walters (“Harry Potter” films) as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and introducing Joel Dawson as the Banks’ children, with Colin Firth (“The King’s Speech”) as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep (“Florence Foster Jenkins”) as Mary’s eccentric cousin Topsy.

Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.

PL Travers first introduced the world to the no-nonsense nanny in her 1934 children’s book “Mary Poppins.”

However, the subsequent adventures of Mary Poppins remained only on the pages of the seven other PL Travers’ books…until now.

“Mary Poppins Returns” is drawn from the wealth of material in these additional books.

The film takes place in 1930s Depression-era London 24 years after the first film was set. Michael Banks works for the same financial institution that employed his father and still lives at 17 Cherry Tree Lane with his three children, Annabel, John and Georgie and their housekeeper Ellen.

Carrying on in her mother’s tradition, Jane Banks campaigns for workers’ rights and provides a helping hand to Michael’s family.

When the family suffers a personal loss, Mary Poppins magically re-enters their lives and with Jack’s help, brings joy and wonder back into their home.

This documentary will follow Daisy Coleman’s journey of healing from lifelong trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, using EMDR

Saving Daisy will pick up where the Netflix film “Audrie & Daisy” left off.

This documentary will follow Daisy Coleman’s journey of healing from lifelong trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, through treatment using EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) Therapy.

Millions of people from all over the world came to learn about Daisy’s sexual assault when her story went viral and was followed by a feature length documentary.

But that was only the beginning of her journey as a survivor.

With this film, Daisy has joined forces with a team of filmmakers and fellow survivors to follow her vulnerable PTSD recovery process, in an effort to inspire other survivors and their families in recovery.

They will follow her through her EMDR treatment to unlock the layers of trauma from her assault, the tragic death of her father prior to the assault, as well as the recent sudden loss of her younger brother.

Daisy has faced more trauma in her 21 years than anyone should ever be faced with in a lifetime, but this film will prove to survivors everywhere that healing is possible.

The goal and objective of this project is to record the impact and measurable results of EMDR treatment on a rape survivor and use this research and findings to ultimately create a narrative feature film based on Daisy Coleman’s life and recovery through EMDR.

In multiple research reports from 2015-2018, EMDR has shown the most long term and positive results in reducing PTSD trauma and triggers, specifically in rape survivors and trauma victims.

Daisy has already attended a consultation session with her new EMDR specialist Dr. Heather Westbarn and is ready/excited for the next phases of her treatment.

One of the most important goals of this process is to get Daisy the treatment she needs and deserves, so that she can thrive and fulfill her highest potential.

But Daisy being who she is, wants her journey to be able to help others as well, so the making of this short documentary will bring awareness to EMDR as a treatment tool for assault survivors and give them the hope and will to want to thrive too.

This short documentary will become part of the learning tools offered by SafeBAE, the national organization that Daisy helped to found in 2015, which works to prevent sexual assault among teens.

Its already hard to talk about sexual assault, and no one even knows where to start when it comes to healing.

Daisy is a female artist, hero and advocate whom is brave in being vulnerable enough to share this next part of her journey.

In addition to this kick ass woman in this film, the filmmakers are approaching the industry at a new angle.

This is a pivotal moment for everyone involved in the project and everyone involved wants you all to be apart of this beautiful project.

Those involved are not just doing this for the sake of the film, they are also making this to spread awareness about this incredible therapy and prove to survivors that they can heal.

This is also not the only thing under their belt, as mentioned above, in addition to this documentary they have a feature film in the process, being written with many celebrities attached, based on Daisy’s life and a tribute to her younger brother Tristan Coleman, whom passed away on June 19, 2018.

Hitting the goals for this project will not only help heal Daisy but also ensure more projects around this issue in the near future.
