Newly formed 101 Studios has announced the release date of the studio’s debut film release THE CURRENT WAR. The film’s limited release begins on October 4, 2019 followed by wide release on October 11, 2019.

THE CURRENT WAR is the epic story of the cutthroat competition that literally lit up the modern world.  Benedict Cumberbatch is Thomas Edison, the celebrity inventor on the verge of bringing electricity to Manhattan. On the eve of triumph, his plans are upended by charismatic businessman George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon), who believes he and his partner, the upstart genius Nikolai Tesla (Nicholas Hoult), have a superior idea for how to rapidly electrify America. As Edison and Westinghouse grapple for who will power the nation, they spark one of the first and greatest corporate feuds in American history. Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL) with executive producer Martin Scorsese, THE CURRENT WAR also stars Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Matthew Macfadyen and Tuppence Middleton.

img_5787Hope Vista, lead vocalist of alternative rock band VISTA, has released her new autobiography, “PREVAIL: Finding Normal,” out exclusively on Amazon NOW, and readable through the free Kindle app.

Hope Vista is the diet Dr. Pepper drinking, Backstreet Boys loving, vintage-gaming lead vocalist of American alternative rock band VISTA, Also a writer, publicist, and dancer, “PREVAIL: Finding Normal,” is Vista’s first full-length novel, after having earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing Arts at Rowan University in 2015. The autobiography, which she began writing in August 2017, chronologically highlights her life’s most clear-cut events, only to realize that many memories were tainted by a young diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder. As Vista navigates through the pages for each phase of her life, she increasingly works to rediscover and recall moments in time that were once lost in trauma.

Initially a solo artist, Hope Vista’s final EP “PREVAIL,” produced by ZK Productions (Mayday Parade, Set It Off, Cartel), was released in November 2015. Immediately following the release, she founded VISTA, releasing their debut EP shortly after, and garnering praise from publications such as Rock Sound and Alternative Press. Since 2017, VISTA has completed 3 national tours, earned 250,000+ Spotify streams, and opened for Set It Off, Against The Current, and more. Known for her electrifying stage presence, unconventional style, and colorful writing, “PREVAIL: Finding Normal” is nothing short of stimulating, and at many points harrowing. Amidst the bouts of memory loss, Vista successfully pieces together a raw, assertive, and thrilling recollection of her first 25 years of life.

What’s up, peeps?

I’m stoked for this movie because, as a book nerd, I read the memoir by Jeannette Walls and was captivated from the very first page. To see it being brought to fruition as a film is only a testament to its greatness. This story is heartbreaking, it’s imaginative, it’s dysfunctional, it’s beautiful and tragic all rolled up into one big ball of emotions. Definitely worth your time!

SYNOPSIS: A young girl comes of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads with a mother who’s an eccentric artist and an alcoholic father who would stir the children’s imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty.

The story of the loving couple who changed nation to the supreme court case Loving V. Virginia, which brought the right to love anyone regardless of color, gets told in an impactful way in “Loving.”

Loving V. Virginia is taught in history classes and law classes, the story gets told and it’s moving. In this age it seems that the nation is seeing similar prejudice.

“Loving” tells the story of Richard, played by Joel Edgerton, and Mildred Loving, Ruth Negga, who after getting married go through some tough trials.

Edgerton has a stoic demeanor with a quiet yet strong look. There are few words that come from Edgerton, but the moments which went down in history are made that much more intense.

Negga has a charm which is innocent and strong. Her manner of delivering lines captures a southern woman in that era.

The couple got married and then spent the following nine years fighting to be recognized as a legal married couple and a family in their hometown in Virginia.

The manner in which many of the instances get depicted in a scary, yet realistic way.

From being arrested in the middle out the night out of their bedroom because they are an interracial married couple to being exiled from Virginia and all the turmoil there after.

The court battles are never really seen other than the climactic Supreme Court scene, but the one instant which leaves audiences silent comes splendid and unexpected.

As Richard’s lawyer asks him what he wants the Supreme Court judge to know the stoic man of few words says, “Tell the judge I love my wife.”

Those words sticks when reading them in a history book, reading them in a thick law book and now when hearing them spoken from Edgerton.

I give this bio-pic 4 out of 5 Popcorns. Being so familiar with the story I’ve seen several productions that have tried to do justice to the story and they all fall short of telling a compelling story. This movie, although it is slow-paced, is well developed and shows enough to capture the attention of the audience, make them care about Richard and Mildred and it doesn’t push the boundaries to make the story feel unbelievable. There’s some moments which the true story has which could have suited the story and the impactful nature of it.
