Universal Studios Hollywood have prepared for their #UniversalHolidays with Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, going on now through January 6, 2019 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Visit “Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter,”which runs daily from November 17, 2018 through January 6, 2019 for an array of changes to the already magical Hogmade.

A nightly glistening snowfall to enhance yuletide spirits falls over the main street at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with multiple snowfalls begin at 5:15 p.m. until the park closes.

The snowfall is enjoyable as visitors of the park get the opportunity to see snow fall in Los Angeles.

It may be a brief snowfall, but it is still incredible to experience and enhances the wonder which is already a part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

A newly introduced holiday-themed fare and the addition of hot Butterbeer, which was introduced earlier this year, at Three Broomsticks makes for a wonderful dinner before enjoying the beautiful additions to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The a cappella Frog Choir featuring Hogwarts students entertaining guests with their harmonized holiday themed songs perform and are great to watch before The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle light show.

The music by the a cappella Frog Choir is a fabulous show which every visitor of Universal can enjoy.

The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle dazzling light spectacular goes on nightly as Universal Studios celebrates the #UniversalHolidays at about 5:40 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (times may vary each night).

The light show at Hogwarts Castle is always breath-taking, but for the holidays it seems a bit more magical.

The Christmas time light show completes the package of Holiday treats, the video may show the light show, but there is nothing like being there in person and experiencing it first-hand.

Being surrounded by hundreds of Harry Potter fans all in awe of the brilliant show.

Then head over to the shops at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a wide selection of custom-made Christmas ornaments created especially for the Wizarding World.

The wonderful ornaments carry the crests of the Hogwarts houses and will go beautifully on any Christmas tree or to decorate around the house.

Zoe Saldana’s Cinestar Pictures to Join Judging Panel for Voces Nuevas

Cine Sony, Sony Pictures Television’s premier movie channel for the bi-cultural U.S. Latino audience, and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) announced the launch of Voces Nuevas, their inaugural short film contest for aspiring filmmakers throughout the U.S.  on November 13.

Through January 31, 2019, filmmakers age eighteen or over who reside in the U.S. are invited to submit short films from two to 20 minutes in length.

Judges reviewing submissions include actor and co-founder of Cinestar Pictures Zoe Saldana; Cinestar Pictures co-founders Cisely and Mariel Saldana; award-winning actor and producer Esai Morales; award-winning actress, producer and activist Lisa Vidal and senior creative executives from Sony Pictures Entertainment Worldwide Acquisitions and Screen Gems.

“Cine Sony is delighted to partner with NALIP to provide a platform to champion the talent and creativity of up-and-coming filmmakers in the U.S.,” Jeff Meier, Senior Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Networks, Sony Pictures Television, said. “On Cine Sony, we have a diverse array of entertainment content from comedies to action movies that reflects the varied interests of our Latino audience. With Voces Nuevas, we are continuing that commitment to showcase the diverse perspectives of aspiring content creators with different backgrounds and experiences.”

Voces Nuevas aims to discover and celebrate emerging film talent while providing a new resource for content development.

Entrants will compete for the chance to win $10,000 plus airfare and accommodations for up to five nights in Los Angeles for the opportunity to meet with Sony Pictures Television executives there.

The winner will also be awarded a scholarship to the 2019 NALIP Media Summit.

NALIP is thrilled to collaborate with the Cine Sony short film contest, ‘Voces Nuevas’. Universal Studios Hollywood is off to the races with its all-new “Running Universal,” a series of fun runs that kicks off with an energetic Minion–themed 5K on May 11, 2019.

The inaugural Minion Run, featuring Illumination’s mischievous Minions from the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride, invites participants ages five and older (of all experience levels) to wind their way around Universal Studios Hollywood and through parts of Universal Studios’ historic backlot, made famous in more than8,000 movies and television shows.

The run will give participants an unprecedented insider’s view of the Entertainment Capital of L.A.

Starting at Universal Studios Hollywood’s iconic front gates, participants will pass through some of the theme park’s immersive areas and attractions before winding their way along the historic backlot and into the magical world of movie-making as they head toward the finish line at CityWalk’s 5 Towers outdoor concert stage.

Along the 3.1 mile course, participants will be entertained by some of their favorite Universal Studios Hollywood characters including the Minions.

The program will begin at 6 a.m. and culminate at 7:30 a.m. with a memorable awards and closing ceremony.

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET’s Sarah Silverman Receives Star On The Hollywood Walk of Fame

Sarah Silverman, who provides the voice of Vanellope von Schweetz in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 9th. Guest speakers John C. Reilly, who voices Ralph in the film, and Jimmy Kimmel were on hand at the event. Silverman’s star, the 2,649th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, can be found at 6600 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Hollywood Toy & Costume Shop.

Alice in Chains have announced an extensive European tour for May and June 2019, following the release of their hugely acclaimed album Rainier Fog earlier this year, which became the band’s first Top 10 UK album, also hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock, Alternative and Hard Music Charts and No. 1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart.

Starting on May 23rd in Glasgow, the 14-date tour includes three UK shows, with a date at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena on the 24th and Wembley The SSE Arena on the 25th. These will be the biggest headline shows the band have played to date in the UK.

Following these UK shows, the band head to Europe for a run of major headline dates and festivals including Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in June. Tickets are available HERE.

MTV kicked off the final phase of its first ever midterm campaign, “+1 the Vote,” by announcing a series of new initiatives and plans for an “Election Afterparty” at Miami Dade College (MDC) on Tuesday, November 6th from 7PM to 10PM ET. The event is set to be the largest youth-focused election party in the country and will feature performances by Fat Joe, PRETTYMUCH, DJ Nasty and Lauren Jauregui. The “Afterparty” kicks off when the polls close in Florida and will celebrate the efforts of young people across the nation getting out the vote.

“+1 the Vote” was created in order to harness the power of friendship and ignite the most powerful voting bloc in the country. As part of the final phase of the campaign, MTV and Civic Nation’s #VoteTogether – with support from “Grown-ish” star Yara Shahidi and “Eighteenx18” – partnered to supercharge youth voter participation by funding parties at the polls in all 50 states. The first party took place on October 20th in Fresno, CA, and attracted hundreds of young voters, and similar events are planned for the weeks leading to the “Election Afterparty.”

Additionally, the youth brand will roll out a series of new Spanish-language PSAs encouraging young people to register and vote, and launch an interactive election map profiling young candidates and activists across the country. MTV News launched its explainer series highlighting leading artists and celebrities breaking down the importance of the midterm elections – the first of which includes Olympic star Adam Rippon. They will continue to roll out videos through election night that will feature Macklemore, R&B Duo Chloe & Halle, and Lauren Jauregui.

MTV will harness the power of friendship and unveil “+1 the Vote,” its first-ever voter campaign to ignite the most powerful voting bloc in the country for the midterm elections.

Based on research which suggests that social influence is a strong motivator in voter turnout, the cornerstone of the campaign is the +1 the Vote Registration Tool, a first-of-its-kind digital experience which will allow young people to register to vote, identify which of their friends aren’t registered to vote, and encourage them to register and join them at the polls on November 6th. Additionally, MTV will encourage its audience to vote together by supercharging youth participation with more than 1,000 parties and events at the polls across all 50 states.

“Our audience relies on their friends in both the smallest and most meaningful moments in their lives,” said Chris McCarthy, President of MTV.  “+1 the Vote is designed to draw on the power of friendship to turn out the youth vote and impact this critical midterm election.”

“+1 the Vote” launched with an all-new promo spot featuring Jared Leto, Lauren Jauregui from Fifth Harmony, Fat Joe and Adam Rippon introducing the campaign, a website, and the +1 the Vote Registration tool. “+1 the Vote” was developed based on MTV/AP-NORC research showing that young people feel a renewed sense of empowerment in their ability to impact politics — 48% of 15-22-year-olds feel they have at least some effect on the government, up from 33% in March – and that friendship is a powerful driver of voter turnout. Additional MTV research found that that 76% of young people think inviting friends to the polling station is an effective way to encourage others to vote, while 70% think posting about voting on social media is also effective.

Imagine Dragons, the GRAMMY®-winning band behind recent hits “Natural” and “Whatever It Takes,” wrote and recorded the end-credit song “Zero” for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Ralph Breaks the Internet.” The song, which will be featured on the upcoming Walt Disney Records soundtrack album, is available today from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records. Listen HERE. It was just featured as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1. The “Zero” lyric video also debuts today—check it out HERE. Directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, “Ralph Breaks the Internet” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 21, 2018.

In the movie, video-game bad guy Ralph struggles with his evolving friendship with fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. According to Imagine Dragons’ lead singer Dan Reynolds, the film’s emotional themes are reflected in the song “Zero.” “It’s a pretty timely movie in a lot of ways in that it addresses some of the issues of identity and loneliness unique to this internet generation,” says Reynolds. “Ralph’s internal struggle for self-acceptance really resonated with us, and this song speaks to that.”

Adds Moore, “It’s a bold choice for an end-credit song because it’s about someone who feels like a zero, someone who hasn’t always felt worthy, someone who’s allowed his entire sense of self to rely on a single friendship. When that friendship is threatened, there’s a lot of insecurity.”

“We can all relate to that feeling,” adds Johnston. “But the song tells us we’re not alone. They nailed the theme of the movie in a way that also makes you want to dance.”

Says Reynolds, “The song is a dichotomy in some ways, with sometimes heavy lyrics over pretty upbeat instrumentation. The result is a tone that is somewhat bittersweet, which felt appropriate given the complexity of Ralph as a character.”

In “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of the arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internet where they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Universal Orlando Resort has added two event dates to Halloween Horror Nights 2018 due to popular demand – giving guests more chances to brave the most intense event in history, featuring more haunted houses than ever before. The added dates – Wednesday, September 19 and Wednesday, September 26 – make this year’s event the longest in history with a total of 36 nights.

Universal also revealed details about the final haunted house that will be featured at Halloween Horror Nights 2018 – ScaryTales: Deadly Ever After.

The twisted minds of Universal Orlando’s Entertainment team are bringing back a fan-favorite with a whole new twist in ScaryTales: Deadly Ever After.  Guests will encounter The Wicked Witch of the West, who has seized control of the fairytale realm and is tormenting treasured storybook characters in hideous and cruel alternate storylines. As guests venture through this nightmarish bedtime story, they’ll see familiar characters now turned evil including Hansel and Gretel salivating for human flesh, a splattered Humpty Dumpty and more.

  • Stranger Things

Halloween Horror Nights takes you deep inside the twisted world of STRANGER THINGS. From a vile, secret lab to the terrifying Void to the monstrous reality of the Upside Down, you try to escape—but The Demogorgon is moving closer.

  • Poltergeist

Restless spirits have overrun the infamous house atop a cemetery, and they’re drawn to your light. You’ll be lured up into the house by the TV’s glowing whisper and cross into the light. Enter a surreal landscape, where your brief sense of wonder will soon shift to horror as you’re menaced by the Beast. Don’t get lost in the light.

  • Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

Evil has returned in an all-new house. The infamous Michael Myers has escaped, and he’s out for blood. Wherever you turn, he’s moving in for the kill, ‘til your heart is screaming out of your chest. Your only hope is Dr. Loomis, Myers’ fire-scarred former psychiatrist, but will he get there in time? This masked maniac is unstoppable, and there’s nowhere to hide.

The world doesn’t get any darker. The planet has been infected with the ultimate pandemic. A ghoulish biological outbreak is turning swaths of humanity into a plague of vicious, swarming zombies. An interstellar circus tent has landed and a madcap invasion has begun on South Street. Step right up to the big top, where the sweet smell of cotton candy delights you.   • Vamp 85: New Year’s Eve

It’s December 31, 1984. As the ball drops in New York City, this New Year’s Eve bash is about to bite. Literally. A blood-sucking DJ counts down the biggest hits of the 80s as fanged punks, big-haired blood-suckers and lace-gloved vampires hunt down partygoers. The howl of synthesizers masks your growing screams. When this year ends, so will you.

  • Twisted Tradition

An ancient evil has been reawakened in Central Park and transformed Halloween into an abomination. Vines coil like vipers around iron fences. Rotting pumpkins molder upon the cursed ground. You’re horrified to discover the larger ones hold human victims whose decayed flesh has mingled with pumpkin guts. You cringe in horror, but the worst is yet to come. Beings of blood and vine seek out human sacrifices. And you’re ripe for the taking.

  • The Harvest

An old barn is the setting of every kind of horror, its walls decorated with objects from each house. Pose at this foreboding photo op along the Avenue of the Stars, but be wary. This barn is not as abandoned as it seems. Foul creatures lurk between the hay bales, ready for a harvest of flesh. Will you survive the reaping?

This year, “Halloween Horror Nights” brings a taste of Hawkins, Indiana to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort inviting guests to enjoy foods inspired by Netflix’s “Stranger Things” that also complement the terrifying “Stranger Things” mazes debuting at both parks. “Halloween Horror Nights” begins on Friday, September 14, 2018.

The specialized foods were created by the executive chef and culinary teams at each park to further enhance the already immersive “Halloween Horror Nights” experience.

Here’s what guests can expect to feast on during “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Studios Hollywood:

  • Benny’s Burgers: This classic, aptly named after the show’s family-owned diner, features a juicy beef burger served on a potato roll and a side of Tater Tots®.
  • The Upside Down Burger: served “upside down,” this signature burger features spicy queso and Flamin’ Hot® Cheetos® served on a potato roll with lettuce, tomatoes, and a side of Tater Tots.
  • Benny’s Chicken & Waffle Sandwich: Drizzled with sage-maple aioli and topped with sweet and sour onions, lettuce and tomatoes, this grilled chicken sandwich is served on iconic Kellogg’s® Eggo® waffles with a side of Tater Tots.
  • Demogorgon’s Totcho: A twist on the classic nacho, this dangerously delicious snack piles up Tater Tots, doused in spicy queso, chili, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, sour cream and scallions.
  • Eleven’s Waffle Extravaganza: Inspired by the lead protagonist’s favorite food, this tasty treat mixes Reese’s Pieces, jelly beans, chocolate chips and whipped cream stacked high on three Kellogg’s Eggo waffles.

Additional treats will be served throughout the theme park including Mini Meatball Subs, Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese, and Stir Fry Noodles as well as Voodoo Doughnuts.

Here’s what guests can expect to dine on at Universal Orlando Resort:

  • Waffles Galore!: All inspired by Eleven’s favorite food, guests can enjoy a variety of waffle treats at “Halloween Horror Nights,” including a Fudge Dipped Waffle on a Stick topped with peanuts and sprinkles; a Waffle Ice Cream Pocket Sundae which features two chocolate chip waffles stuffed with strawberry ice cream and topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, sprinkles, chopped peanuts and a cherry; the Triple Decker Extravaganza, which is Orlando’s version of Eleven’s Waffle Extravaganza – and more.
  • Syrup & Waffles: Enjoy Eleven’s favorite food…beverage-style! This non-alcoholic frozen drink is a delicious blend of syrup flavors with tiny waffles on top
  • Christmas Tree Light Cupcakes: Inspired by the iconic scene from ”Stranger Things” where Joyce uses Christmas lights to communicate with Will, guests can choose from chocolate or red velvet cupcakes, each topped with whipped cream frosting and covered with jelly beans to resemble the colorful lights
  • 11 Mini Donuts: These donuts are covered in powdered sugar or cinnamon and topped with red frosting – inspired by the nosebleed Eleven typically has when she uses her telekinesis powers
  • Pepperoni & Sausage Pizza: Inspired by the slice of pizza Dustin offers his crush, Nancy, in the first episode of season one
  • Benny’s Burgers: Universal Orlando will also feature a Benny’s Burgers food location, where guests can grab a variety of burgers, chicken sandwiches and more 

Universal Orlando’s “Halloween Horror Nights” will also feature additional highly-themed food and beverages inspired by this year’s ‘80s theme and Halloween overall, including a unique Candy Corn frozen drink, a sweet and sour drink called “Gnarly Twist,” a special HHN Tombstone Doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut, and more.
