Hola Mexico Distribution lanzará la película en EE.UU., después de sus premieres en 2016 en el Festival de Cine Internacional de Guadalajara, el Festival de Cine Internacional de Chicago y el Festival de Cine de Mill Valley y su proyección en los cines en México el pasado agosto. Producida y dirigida por Roberto Sneider (Arráncame la vida) a partir de un guión de Luis Cámara y Sneider basado en la novela Ciudades desiertas de José Agustín, la película es coprotagonizada por Verónica Echégui, Ashley Grace, Jadyn Wong, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson y Adam Hurtig.

En You’re Killing Me Susana (Me Estás Matando Susana), Bernal interpreta a Eligio, un narcisista actor de telenovelas de la ciudad de México que un día se sorprende al descubrir que su esposa, Susana (Verónica Echégui), lo ha abandonado sin decir una palabra. Cuando se entera que ella se inscribió en un curso de escritura en una universidad de Iowa, decide seguirla y persuadirla para que regrese a su lado. Al llegar durante una tormenta de nieve a lo que parece ser el medio de la nada, Eligio se siente como un pez fuera del agua y se decepciona al descubrir que Susana ya ha continuado con su vida. Poco a poco, empieza a darse cuenta de que tomará mucho más que su usual carisma y bonitas palabras para volver a ganarse su amor.

Hola Mexico Distribution will release the film here, following its 2016 premieres at the Guadalajara International, Chicago International and Mill Valley Film Festivals and its theatrical run in Mexico this past August. Produced and directed by Roberto Sneider (Tear This Heart Out) from a screenplay by Luis Camara and Sneider based on the novel Deserted Cities (Ciudades Desiertas) by José Agustín, the film co-stars Verónica Echegui, Ashley Grace, Jadyn Wong, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Adam Hurtig.

In You’re Killing Me Susana (Me Estás Matando Susana) Bernal stars as Eligio, a narcissistic Mexico City soap opera actor who one day is shocked to discover that his wife Susana (Echegui) has picked up and left him without uttering a word. After learning that she has enrolled in a writing program at an Iowa university, he decides to go after her and persuade her to return to him. Arriving in what appears to be the middle of nowhere during a winter storm, Eligio feels like a fish out of water and is disappointed to find that Susana has already moved on with her life. Slowly it begins to dawn on him that it’s going to take a lot more than his usual boyish charisma and sweet talk to win her back.

It’s 1948 and the Cold War has reached Chile.

In congress, Senator (and renowned poet) Pablo Neruda (Gnecco) accuses the government of betraying the Communist Party and is swiftly impeached by the president.
Police Prefect Oscar Peluchonneau (Bernal) is assigned to arrest the poet. Neruda tries to flee the country with his wife, the painter Delia del Carril, but they are forced into hiding, where Neruda writes his epic collection of poems, “Canto General.”
In Europe, the legend of the poet hounded by the policeman grows, and artists led by Pablo Picasso clamor for Neruda’s freedom.
Neruda sees this struggle with his nemesis Peluchonneau as an opportunity to reinvent himself, and he sets about playing games with the inspector, leaving clues designed to make their conflict more dangerous, and more intimate.
In this story of a persecuted poet and his implacable adversary, Neruda recognizes his own heroic possibilities: a chance to become both a symbol for liberty and a literary legend.

Must-See Spanish-Language Movies Available at No Additional Cost During Hispanic Heritage Month

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Comcast’s annual Xfinity FreePass Latino gives customers a two week all-access pass, at no additional cost, to discover and re-watch hundreds of Hispanic movies. From September 26 through October 9, 2016 FreePass Latino will be available across all Xfinity platforms including, Xfinity On Demand, Xfinity.com/Latino and via the Xfinity Go app.

This year, Comcast has partnered with Pantelion Films, Hollywood’s first Latino studio, and will make available several of the most popular movies at no additional cost during the two weeks of FreePass Latino. These titles include the highest-grossing Spanish-language film of all time,  Instructions Not Included; the first Spanish-language animated film to be widely released in the U.S., Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos; Casa de Mi Padre, featuring Gael Garcia Bernal and Will Ferrell; and Ladrones, starring telenovela superstars Fernando Colunga and Eduardo Yañez. And with the recent updates to Comcast’s state-of-the-art set-top box, the X1 platform, consumers can more easily navigate and access these films via the Voice Remote Control. This voice-activated feature allows consumers to simply say phrases in Spanish or English, like “Eugenio Derbez,” “Peliculas Mexicanas” or “Pantelion” and they will be taken to a screen with a list of all the appropriate titles associated with their request.

14A visually sumptuous adventure about a mysterious man who emerges from the Argentinian rainforest to rescue a family from ruthless land-grabbers bent on stealing their farm, Ardor is written and directed by Pablo Fendrik (Blood Appears, The Mugger), and stars Gael García Bernal (No, Motorcycle Diaries) and Alice Braga (I Am Legend, City of God) working together for the first time since their collaboration in Fernando Meirelles’ Blindness.  Ardor made its world premiere as an Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival.


Long Synopsis:

When fires sweep through the forest near their property along the Parana River, a tobacco-farming family goes on high alert. João suspects the fire is a result of slash-and-burn tactics by thugs intent on acquiring the farm he shares with his daughter, Vania, and her partner, Jara. Help arrives in the form of Kaí, an enigmatic stranger.

When the violence of the land-grabbers’ assault catches the family off guard, the men force João to sign over his farm and kidnap Vania. Undetected by the assailants, Kaí goes on the offensive but with the hornet’s nest now stirred, Kaí, Vania and Jara must decide how far they will go to preserve the farm and their vanishing way of life.

La película fue escrita y dirigida por Pablo Fendrik (La sangre brota, El asaltante) y está protagonizada por Gael García Bernal (No, Diarios de Motocicleta) y Alice Braga (I Am Legend, Ciudad de Dios), quienes trabajan juntos por primera vez desde su colaboración en Blindness, de Fernando Meirelles. Ardor tuvo su premier mundial como parte de la Selección Oficial del Festival de Cine de Cannes.

Sinopsis Extendida:

Cuando el fuego arrasa con el bosque cerca de su propiedad junto al Río Paraná, una familia que tiene una plantación de tabaco entra en alerta roja. João sospecha que el fuego es el resultado de una estrategia de tala y quema implementada por unos rufianes que están decididos a apropiarse de la granja que comparte con su hija, Vania, y su socia, Jara. La ayuda llega con Kaí, un enigmático extraño.

La violencia del ataque de los desforestadores toma por sorpresa a la familia y los hombres obligan a João a ceder la propiedad de su granja y secuestran a Vania.
