Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch announced today that the STARZ Original series “Vida” from Executive Producer and showrunner Tanya Saracho (“How to Get Away With Murder,” “Looking,” “Girls”) has been picked up for a third season.

“It is a rarity in television today to have a series earn this level of critical praise for two consecutive seasons and spark cultural conversation in the way that ‘Vida’ has,” said Hirsch. “We are proud to continue to tell this story with Tanya and the incredible cast and crew she has assembled.”

Winner of the 2019 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comedy series and earning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes for both seasons, “Vida” was created by Tanya Saracho, who executive produces alongside Big Beach TV’s Robin Schwartz, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub with Stephanie Langhoff.

“Vida’s” Hispanic audience has grown 56% compared to the same period in Season 1,* giving it the highest Hispanic audience composition among premium scripted series in 2019 (Live+3).** Additionally, STARZ Hispanic subs have grown 17% since the series premiered in May 2018*** and the number of new customers who watched “Vida” season two on the app in the first seven days was almost double year over year.

“’Vida’ isn’t special only because it’s putting underrepresented American stories onscreen. It’s special because it’s doing it so well, mining the epic drama and the discrete experiences of its characters’ lives to create something that’s elaborate, distinct, and beautiful all at the same time.” – The Atlantic

In the second season of “Vida,” Lyn and Emma begin the monumental task of rebuilding their mother’s business while navigating financial constraints, competing developers, and the growing anti-gentrification movement. Lyn and Emma must contemplate the relationships in their lives, including their own, and are forced to dig deep to unearth what their mother’s legacy means to them.

“Vida” stars Melissa Barrera (“Club de Cuervos” and upcoming features In the Heights and Carmen) as Lyn, Mishel Prada (“Fear The Walking Dead: Passage”) as Emma, Ser Anzoategui (“East Los High”) as Eddy, Chelsea Rendon (Bright) as Marisol, Carlos Miranda (The Bling Ring) as Johnny, and Roberta Colindrez (“I Love Dick”) as Nico.

Senior Vice President of Original Programming Kathryn Tyus-Adair is the Starz executive in charge of “Vida.”

Franky G continues to be excited playing Poncho in season 5 of POWER

Written by Jesus Figueroa

With a brilliant season full of incredible guest stars and a great continuing cast, Franky G had the opportunity to work with talented cast members.

Franky G said he wished he would have been able to work with more of the cast because they are so fantastic, but he was only able to work with a few.

Many amazing guest stars popped up on POWER season 5.

The guest stars brought even more incredible talent to the cast. Guest stars allow regular cast to be able to work off a new energy which allows for different performances.

Franky G said that sometimes he found it amazing that so many big name talent would be featured in episodes.

Guest stars were more than just actors, rappers were part of the guest stars and sometimes those performances were among the most impactful.

The show has made its notoriety and proven to be culturally relevant with the amount of guest stars it features.

Franky G said it was an amazing experience with the guest stars, both getting to perform with them and just seeing them on set.

Despite this season being spectacular to watch, Franky G said he thinks every season he gets to participate on “POWER” is incredible. Just being on set is exciting because rod how incredible the show is.

THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON

The Thrilling Fifth Season Comes Home on Blu-ray and DVD
on May 14 from Lionsgate

POWER_S5_BD_skew[1]“Ghost” finds himself hell-bent on avenging his daughter’s death in “Power”: The Complete Fifth Season, arriving on Blu-rayTM and DVD May 14 from Lionsgate. The Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson executive produced drama follows the enthralling rags-to-riches tale of James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a wealthy New York nightclub owner who leads a double life of survival and corruption as a drug kingpin. Omari Hardwick (TV’s “Being Mary Jane,” A Christmas Blessing), Lela Loren (Snitch, TV’s “Lost” and “Reign Over Me”), Naturi Naughton (TV’s “The Playboy Club” and “The Client List”), Joseph Sikora (TV’s “The Heart, She Holler” and “Underground”), and Grammy Award® winner Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin’) star in this hard-hitting series about betrayal and survival.

“Power”: The Complete Fifth Season, from creator and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp (TV’s “The Good Wife”) and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, follows James “Ghost” St. Patrick’s dangerous alliance with former drug partner and brother-in-arms Tommy Egan and mortal enemy Kanan Stark. As Ghost mourns his daughter’s death, he searches for vengeance and throws himself into his work, reaching new professional heights. But his quest for blood threatens to dismantle his legitimate legacy. He’s blind to new enemies, and as the feds grow closer to unmasking his true identity, Ghost must remain vigilant toward those wanting to take him down for his past criminal enterprises.

The ratings-smash hit ranked as the #2 premium scripted series in 2018 among P18-49 and P25-54, behind “Westworld,”* making Season 5 an instant fan favorite.
