HAAS Comes To Life In Debut Single “Behind Those Eyes”

Virginia-based pop/rock project HAAS have released their debut single, “Behind Those Eyes,” out on all digital platforms NOW. After an extensive about of self-discovery and reflection, lead vocalist Sam Haas brings the project to life through a reflective set of lyrics in “Behind Those Eyes.” With the track’s music video release to follow on February 12th, HAAS approaches the broad pop/rock genre with ease; “Behind Those Eyes” showcases pulsing, rhythmic guitars and powerful lead vocals, reminiscent of 2000’s artists Kelly Clarkson and The Veronicas. The single paves the way for HAAS’ five-track debut EP, due out later this year. About the single, lead vocalist Sam Haas states:

“Behind Those Eyes” is the debut single off HAAS’ upcoming EP. This song is about the dynamics of my relationship with my sister, at a particular point in time, and how an outside influence was changing my perception of her. The song shows the emotional roller coaster that was a year of my life. It shows how an outside influence can have so much influence over someone. This is a song about my efforts to “save” her, but at some point, you have to stop trying and move on. Though this song is immensely personal, I believe that it can be applied to any type of relationship.”

HAAS is a pop/rock band from Virginia. The name HAAS stems from lead vocalist Sam Haas who decided to pay tribute to not only her family name but her late grandfather who inspired her through his music. After years of playing around with names and ideas, HAAS became the official name in 2018. Through the use of catchy melodies, rhythmic guitars, and expressive lyrics, HAAS has been able to marry the pop/rock sound. The group uses music not only as an outlet for themselves, but want the music to be an outlet for others. They draw on personal hardships, such as loss, strained relationships, bullying, depression, and anxiety, but also hardships within the world today. HAAS strives to promote a place of safety and inclusivity, where it is okay to be who you are and forget about the real world for a minute. HAAS has discussed being bullied and scared of being who they are and by embracing themselves, they hope to inspire others to do the same; “love who you are and don’t be afraid to do the things you want.” HAAS plans to release their debut five-song EP in the Spring. Weekend Vibes | My Music Recommendations for the Weekend: Peter Manos, PRETTYMUCH and Backstreet Boys

Hello there, music lovers! 💚

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably sick of every third song on the radio being an Ariana Grande song. Nothing against her, I think she’s great, BUT I need some variety!

So here I am, offering my weekend music recommendations. Does my opinion count? Probably not, but here’s to hoping I can spread the music love and offer some variety to your music-loving ears.

First up, I stumbled across a video on IG last night where three dancers were dancing to a song I’d never heard before. I couldn’t get the song out of my head, so I ended up adding it to my playlist on Apple Music.

The song is aptly titled “In My Head” by Peter Manos. While I don’t know much about him, I do know that he has three songs available to stream on Apple Music and you should definitely check them out. Those other songs are new releases (2019), titled “Out of Love” and “You Don’t Know Me.” He has this mellow, calming voice that makes you want to just light some candles and let all the stress of the day melt away. His songs are a mix of R&B with an acoustic vibe to it. Just trust me. Listen to them!

Another recommendation is from a band my niece introduced me to. PRETTYMUCH just wrapped up their FUNKTION TOUR, which I had the pleasure of going to with the niece last October here in Ft. Lauderdale. They recently released a song titled “Jello,” but my weekend recommendation is for a track they released at midnight last night/this morning called “Blind.” I mean, let me be honest, you should be listening to ALL of their songs, but I digress. These guys are hard working, talented and extremely underestimated (for now). They remind me of the old school boy bands, which is why I would even call myself a fan in my thirties lol. Their songs are so catchy, they’re incredible dancers and they put on a great show. Plus, I’ve seen first hand how much they love and appreciate their fans. My last recommendation for the weekend hurts my heart a little. Anyone who knows me knows that Justin Timberlake is my No. 1 and has been since I was 14 (that’s 20 years, people). I was that person who had NSYNC posters and articles plastered on my walls — like it was literally my wallpaper. With that being said, I feel the need to inform you that I was not that person who cried whenever I saw them or stalked their bus lol. Back then, you had to make a choice . . . NSYNC or Backstreet Boys. You already know what my choice was, which is why this recommendation hurts so bad haha. Backstreet Boys released their latest album, DNA, at midnight and it is fan-fucking-tastic! Excuse my French. I’ve been listening to it all morning and I haven’t found a song I didn’t like. I even texted my BSB-loving bestie and told her I might have to go with her to see them live for once in my NSYNC-loving life! All you Howie and Kevin lovers out there, hold onto your hats because they seem to have way more parts on this album than they ever have before. Don’t fact check me on that because if you’ve read this paragraph, you know that BSB was not my choice! I have to give credit where credit is due, and BSB definitely deserve it on this one. Congrats, ~~boys~~ ~~men~~ Backstreet Boys! (See what I did there?)

Blumhouse-Inspired Company to Help Get Your Horror Movie Made!

Continuance Pictures, producers of the upcoming horror film ISOLATION, have announced a new film initiative – that could help budding filmmakers get their film off the ground!

The ‘CONTINUE’ initiative has been inspired and encouraged by horror maestro Jason Blum.

Continuances Tristan Barr and David Gim were speaking to Blum (“Halloween”, “The Purge”) at the recent Busan Film Market where he inspired the prolific producing unit to get a film fund going.

“Jason gave us incredible advice on shooting with low budgets and testing contents with short films”, says Barr, co-founder of the company.

The chat led to a new film initiative, in which budding filmmakers will have the chance to produce their own short with feature film or TV series potential. At the same time, the company has also announced a new horror movie, which Barr will helm.

Through their new initiative, Continuance Pictures will foster the untapped creativity of new writers, directors and producers by assisting them in the development and production of a film through a short film initiative.

“The initiative is a pragmatic approach to ﬁlmmaking in the digital age”, says Barr, whose film ‘’Watch the Sunset’’ was one of the most celebrated Australian films of 2017. ‘’The initiative will connect emerging talent to the ﬁlm industry and other creatives through investment and opportunity.’’

Continuance Pictures is a global company, with connections in Asia and Australia – they are a partner of former CAA and Sierra Infinity fixture Ina Petersen, who last year launched Inner Voice Artists, a Los Angeles-based international management and production company, and are currently working with Korean partners on “Isolation”, a horror story which Barr will also write and direct.

“Isolation” tells of the lone survivor of a plane crash who encounter a demon being while lost in the wilderness.

Continuance Pictures launches the “Continue” short film initiative this month, offering emerging talent the opportunity to prove themselves on the world stage. With an aim to inspire innovation and harness the potential of the current media landscape, the new studio will foster a creative culture in which bold choices are rewarded.

“As a ﬁlmmaker, there is nothing worse than receiving a “rejection letter” and not understanding why. Through this process the team at Continuance Pictures we are attempting to provide feedback to applicants to build working relationships and ongoing opportunities for the future.”

The short ﬁlm initiative assists in the creation of acclaimed short ﬁlms and their submission to ﬁlm festivals around the world. These short ﬁlms can then be used as a proof of concept, convincing larger studios and investors of the potential of related feature-length ﬁlms, television series and franchises.

Adds Barr, “As I have learnt with Watch the Sunset, momentum is such an integral part of the process of surviving in this business. We will be capitalizing on festival screenings with meetings in the marketplace with the already developed feature script of the project.”

‘’Watch the Sunset’’ was an 83 minute, one-shot, low-budget feature film that Barr wrote and directed and was highly-regarded at festivals and was named one of the top 5 films of the year by local critics. Barr says “Creating low budget short ﬁlms empowers creatives by giving them creative control and the chance to prove themselves on the world stage.”

Continuance Pictures plans to support local and international creators through their short film production initiative. The purpose of the ‘Continue’ Short Film Initiative is to create acclaimed short films that can be used as a proof of concept for feature-length productions and franchises.

The initiative allows larger studios to grasp the potential of a project and the creators. Writers, directors and producers can submit their projects via the Continuance Pictures website.

“Continuance Pictures are strong supporters of diversity in the media, and this is reﬂected in our selection process,” explains Gim. Each submission is reviewed and judged based on a range of criteria, including diversity, creativity, originality, and budget considerations.

Continuance Pictures are looking to oﬀer qualiﬁed, high-concept proposals up to $10,000 to spend on the production’s budget. Writers, directors and producers who have bold and innovative ideas are invited to submit their scripts to the Continue Short Film Initiative via the Continuance Pictures website before 5 pm AEDT on the 1st of February 2019.

Hannah Grace has released her brand new single ‘With You’ through Never Fade Records. Hannah Grace closed 2018 with the release of the collaborative Christmas EP December alongside Gabrielle Aplin. The lead single and title track featured on 14 ‘New Music Friday’ Spotify playlists, and was spotlighted in the UK and US Top 10, as well as being played on Radio 2. The EP also featured three beautiful covers of classic Christmas tracks.

Hope Vista Releases Autobiography, “PREVAIL: Finding Normal”

Hope Vista, lead vocalist of alternative rock band VISTA, has released her new autobiography, “PREVAIL: Finding Normal,” out exclusively on Amazon NOW, and readable through the free Kindle app.

Hope Vista is the diet Dr. Pepper drinking, Backstreet Boys loving, vintage-gaming lead vocalist of American alternative rock band VISTA, Also a writer, publicist, and dancer, “PREVAIL: Finding Normal,” is Vista’s first full-length novel, after having earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing Arts at Rowan University in 2015. The autobiography, which she began writing in August 2017, chronologically highlights her life’s most clear-cut events, only to realize that many memories were tainted by a young diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder. As Vista navigates through the pages for each phase of her life, she increasingly works to rediscover and recall moments in time that were once lost in trauma.

Actor Bruno Bichir finds PERFECTOS DESCONOCIDOS (PERFECT STRANGERS) more complex, exciting

“Perfectos Desconocidos (Perfect Strangers)” has had a versión in several different languages, but actor Bruno Bichir finds that this universal story lends itself to take on sensitive topics in the Latino culture.

There’s flaws and differences in everyone, which this film touch upon magnificently, yet each character in this film the flaws are not exactly apparent until they consume the character.

“This character is so ambiguous that I, I love so much ambiguous art in any form, in any platform and in any way or shape,” Bichir said. “This character is so ambiguous because he seems like he’s honest, intelligent, sensitive and caring, but who know, the best liars perfectly lie.”

With the discovery of secrets from each character, the story seems to build up to a massive secret to be discovered, but it comes from an unexpected place.

Then as the characters come to another climactic moment another twist sends them to yet another unpredictable place which combines to present dilemmas and comments of some of the Mexican culture’s stereotypes.

“We Mexicans are very complex people. We deal with death and don’t know if we are laughing, crying, guilty or cynical,” Bichir said. “We don’t know if we are very open minded or very closed off.”

Bichir takes on a character that creates an opportunity for him to enforce the message of the story through subtleties in the way the character behaves.

Along with guidance from director Manolo Caro, Bichir establishes a character which many people can identify with.

This character is in every group of friends and if the audience cannot identify personally with him, they know the member of their friend circle which can.

“The first challenge is it’s me and everyone I know represented in this character. So, I thought I should be somehow me, me naked, obviously it’s not me, I’m not that character at all,” Bichir said. “In order to transmit, to transcend the message, feelings and thoughts of these situations and character, I thought I should be naked.”

After all that, Bichir is just one piece of the great puzzle which is put together in this film by a brilliant director and fabulous cast.

Through the scenes audiences can look at the characters on the screen and get caught up in such a manner that it is like peeking in on a group of friends.

The story is so universal that it has been recreated different times by different cultures in different countries.

“It seems all human beings are in the midst of that struggle,” Bichir said. “We are trying to open our hearts and minds to the new human beings we are all trying to be.”
