An adaptation of the original Broadway musical, WEST SIDE STORY explores young love and tensions between rival gangs the Jets and the Sharks on the streets of 1957 New York. The cast also includes Ansel Elgort (Tony); Rachel Zegler (Maria); Ana Isabelle (Rosalia); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke); Curtiss Cook (Abe) and Academy Award®-winner Rita Moreno, who plays Valentina and also serves as one of the film’s Executive Producers. The film is now in production for Twentieth Century Fox and The Walt Disney Studios.

WEST SIDE STORY is produced and directed by Steven Spielberg from a script by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner. The story of Pet Sematary is no exception and the original book was published in 1983. If you haven’t seen it yet, Pet Sematary tells the story of the Creed family, who relocates from Boston to rural Maine, they soon discover an ancient burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, the grief-stricken father is driven by the cemetery’s sinister power, setting off a perilous chain of events that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences. The Film Is Based On A Real-Life Experience

Stephen King based this story on a real-life experience he had in the 70’s when he lived in Maine with his family. They lived on the edge of the Maine woods next to a road where heavy, loaded trucks used to drive through. The lives of many local pets were taken in various accidents, and local kids used to bury them in a pet cemetery deep in the woods. King’s inspiration for his book, came after he found his daughter’s cat tragically dead on the side of the road.

It may result very interesting for Stephen King fans to watch this movie as it features and sneak peeks various connections to a few of King’s horror novels like Cujo or It. Newly formed 101 Studios has released the official trailer for their debut title THE CURRENT WAR based on the epic story of Thomas Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch), George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) and Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult), three brilliant visionaries in a cutthroat competition to literally light up the world. The film follows Edison, whose plans of bringing electricity to Manhattan are upended when Westinghouse and Tesla announce they have a superior idea for how to rapidly electrify America, sparking one of the first and greatest corporate feuds in U.S. history.

Newly formed 101 Studios has announced the release date and new stills for their forthcoming film BURDEN, which opens in theaters for a limited launch on November 1st with a continued rollout through the month of November. BURDEN has been edited down 20 minutes from the film’s premiere at Sundance in 2018. The film is the winner of the 2018 Audience Awards at Sundance and Nantucket Film Festivals, and was written and directed by first-time filmmaker Andrew Heckler.

SYNOPSIS: BURDEN tells the incredible true story of Michael “Mike” Burden (Garrett Hedlund), an ardent young member of the South Carolina Ku Klux Klan who rose to the rank of Grand Dragon – and walked away from all of it with the help of a new love and an unlikely ally, the African American religious leader and social activist Reverend David Kennedy (Forest Whitaker). Mike Burden was raised and indoctrinated into the KKK by Klan leader Tom Griffin (Tom Wilkinson), rising to the ranks of Grand Dragon through his affinity for violence and seemingly set on a lifetime path steeped in racism and bigotry, until he meets and falls in love with a single mother, deeply opposed to the hate group, eventually forcing him to make a choice.  After being cut off and shut out of his Klan family, with nowhere else to turn, Mike begs for help from his mortal enemy, civil rights activist Reverend David Kennedy. Against all odds and wisdom, Reverend Kennedy proves the power and conviction of his faith when he accepts Mike’s disavowal of the Klan and welcomes him into his home and his church. Together, they face down irate, vengeful and violent Klan members and win over Reverend Kennedy’s skeptical parishioners, forming a true bond and forging a path towards redemption and forgiveness.

This morning, Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake, along with J Balvin and Gustavo Dudamel, debuted their character posters for DreamWorks Animation’s TROLLS WORLD TOUR.

Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake return in an all-star sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s 2016 musical hit: Trolls World Tour. In an adventure that will take them well beyond what they’ve known before, Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) discover that they are but one of six different Troll tribes scattered over six different lands and devoted to six different kinds of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock. Their world is about to get a lot bigger and a whole lot louder.

A member of hard-rock royalty, Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom), aided by her father King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne), wants to destroy all other kinds of music to let rock reign supreme. With the fate of the world at stake, Poppy and Branch, along with their friends — Biggie (James Corden), Chenille (Caroline Hjelt), Satin (Aino Jawo), Cooper (Ron Funches) and Guy Diamond (Kunal Nayyar) — set out to visit all the other lands to unify the Trolls in harmony against Barb, who’s looking to upstage them all.

Cast as members of the different musical tribes is one the largest, and most acclaimed, groups of musical talent ever assembled for an animated film. From the land of Funk are Mary J. Blige, George Clinton and Anderson .Paak. Representing Country is Kelly Clarkson as Delta Dawn, with Sam Rockwell as Hickory and Flula Borg as Dickory. J Balvin brings Reggaeton, while Ester Dean adds to the Pop tribe. Anthony Ramos brings the beat in Techno and Jamie Dornan covers smooth jazz. World-renowned conductor and violinist Gustavo Dudamel appears as Trollzart and Charlyne Yi as Pennywhistle from the land of Classical. And Kenan Thompson raps as a hip-hop newborn Troll named Tiny Diamond.

Trolls World Tour is directed by Walt Dohrn, who served as co-director on Trolls, and is produced by returning producer Gina Shay. The film is co-directed by David P. Smith and co-produced by Kelly Cooney Cilella, both of whom worked on the first Trolls. Trolls World Tour will also feature original music by Justin Timberlake, who earned an Oscar® nomination for his song for 2016’s Trolls, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and a score by Theodore Shapiro (2016’s Ghostbusters, The Devil Wears Prada).

Wowwwwwww. I finally got a chance to see FIVE FEET APART last night, and my only regret is that I didn’t see it sooner!

SYNOPSIS: Seventeen-year-old Stella spends most of her time in the hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control — all of which get put to the test when she meets Will, an impossibly charming teen who has the same illness. There’s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction.

Let me start by saying that the cast in FIVE FEET APART was amazing. The story focuses on Stella (Haley Lu Richardson), Will (Cole Sprouse) and Poe (Moises Arias), all of which have Cystic Fibrosis. Their performances throughout this movie were absolutely incredible. You have the besties who can’t console each other as other besties would. You have the lovebirds who can’t touch each other or be any closer than six (five) feet apart. It’s heartbreaking & their performances really convey those feelings to the viewer. Even the supporting cast was great!

It should come as no shock that Justin Baldoni put together such an amazing film. Have you seen his proposal video???? I’m linking that HERE because it’s epic in every sense of the word lol. FIVE FEET APART was beautifully shot and you can tell he sprinkled some of that Baldoni magic on it!

Admittedly, this story looked similar to other young adult movies that involve an illness, so I was expecting the same outcome. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the differences though! I laughed, I cried, I cried and I cried some more. This movie was beautiful and tragic at the same time, in the best way possible.

SPOILER ALERT: After it was over, my mother said, “I really liked this movie. I’m so glad neither of them died.” My response was that I’m not sure which would be worse, having someone die and not be able to touch them or to have someone right in front of you and not be able to touch them. Obviously, I’d rather not have someone die, but can you imagine the torture of being able to see that person you love standing right across from you and never being able to feel their touch? Bleh!

Cole Sprouse, Haley Lu Richardson and Moises Arias were phenomenal. You truly felt their pain, their guilt, their love and their friendship. It was an interesting look into Cystic Fibrosis that most people, including myself, were unaware of.

I highly recommend watching this movie with a box of tissues (or two) and then watch it again and again! ♥️

Ok, Jonas Brothers!! I see you!

Today marks the release of their new album, Happiness Begins, after 10 years! It’s been an extremely long 10 years for Jonas Brothers fans . . . believe me, as an *NSYNC fan, I know how uneasy it feels when your favorite band splits up. Especially when they’re brothers! Luckily, the guys worked through their issues and got together for one hell of an album!

When it was announced that the guys would be getting the band back together again, fans were hit with an onslaught of all things Jonas – a new single, a new album, a new tour, a documentary, a book, and who knows what’s next! There’s been no shortage of content, that’s for sure.

The documentary, Chasing Happiness, is available on Amazon Prime Video and gives an in-depth look at the guys growing up in the Jonas household, beginning their careers at a young age, navigating their way through life and work and family. Somewhere along the way, the guys seemed to lose the fun aspect of making music and performing, which eventually led to their split. They allow fans to get a glimpse into what happened and how they decided to work through things together as brothers. I highly recommend watching it.

With the release of the new album, we get to see a whole new Jonas Brothers. You can almost hear the fun in every song. It’s a more adult vibe than the old school albums, for sure. It’s funky, it’s mature, it’s a MOOD.  There’s literally something for everyone on this album, and a huge congrats goes out to the guys for coming back together while still holding onto their own individual styles in the process.

Personally, Jonas Brothers hold a special place in my heart. They were the first concert I ever took my niece to in 2009. She was 5 years old and it was amazing. My friend’s kids had fallen asleep towards the end of the show, so she took them out to the car, but my niece refused to leave until the show was over. It made me so proud! Since then, she’s been my concert buddy and now she’s 15 dragging me to shows I normally wouldn’t go to. They set the bar for live shows for her 10 years ago and now we’ll be seeing them EXACTLY 10 years later at their show here in Miami this August. My only wish is that I could afford VIP tickets for her to meet them lol.

Either way, make sure to grab the album, score tix to their upcoming Happiness Begins Tour (which is a bit pricey, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it), watch the documentary and keep your eyes open for their upcoming book! The guys are on a roll and it doesn’t look like there’s an end in sight. (Side Note: Someone please get them to convince *NSYNC to make a similar comeback! They’re living proof that maturing their sound and putting out music they want to make can work despite being a huge success to younger crowds back in the day!)
