Following the release of his single ‘Kiss Somebody’ and new track ‘I Do’, Australian-born country star Morgan Evans will be returning to the UK next month to perform at this year’s Country 2 Country Festival in London and Glasgow.

“I visited the UK for the first time last year and just fell in love with the country and its music fans,” says Evans. “There’s a depth of passion for music there unlike anywhere else. C2C 2018 will be my third visit and I couldn’t be more stoked to return to London and Glasgow.”

Already a bona-fide music sensation in his native Australia, and highly acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone and Billboard in the US – both of whom have tipped him for success in 2018 – his new music is shaped by a love of artists like Ed Sheeran and Keith Urban, alongside many other Nashville greats where he now resides, having signed a global record deal with Warner Music Nashville / Warner Bros. Records.

Last year Evans released his debut US single ‘Kiss Somebody’, which he wrote with Chris DeStefano and Josh Osborne. The track has become a major radio hit in multiple countries and debuted on Spotify’s Viral Charts at #15 in the US and #26 globally, with over 19 million streams to date.

The visually impressive, one-of-a-kind accompanying video was released in December 2017 and features a nearly single-shot film in extreme slow-motion.

His newest track ‘I Do’, pays homage to loved ones and was inspired by his now wife and fellow country artist Kelsea Ballerini. As a result of these two tracks, Evans has made a huge splash in the US and in addition to Rolling Stone’s praise for his “velvety voice rasping in all the right places” he has been crowned as one of CMT’s #18for2018 artists.

The upcoming performances at C2C mark his third time back on UK soil after playing a run of headline dates last June, before returning for his acclaimed visit here in October. He’s also set to join James Blunt for three landmark shows in Australia, before heading back to the US for shows in April with Chris Young and Kane Brown.

As her sultry and show-stopping video for ‘Coming In Hot‘ crosses 1 Million YouTube streams, 21-year-old Diamante shows she’s more than meets the eye in the brand new video for her female empowerment video anthem ‘Had Enough‘.

Shot on location in Palm Springs CA, Diamante enlisted an all-female team to create the ultimate gal-pal road trip video, which pays homage to the classic pissed-off-chick-flick Thelma and Louise. Taking the desert by storm alongside actress Mackenna Johnson, the video features a behind-the scenes cast including Director/Producer Sofia Lane, production crew Rose Lu and Alyssa Mordal, and camera work by Tania Espinosa Cueva. Each woman is up-and-coming in her respective field.

“It’s critical to see more women at the top of fields traditionally dominated by men,” explains Diamante on her decision to hire women for this shoot. “But in order to do that, we need to give women a chance to get their foot in the door. It was very important to me to create opportunities for other women in the making of this video”

Originally recorded by Lower Than Atlantis, Diamante decided to put her stamp on the song because the strong lyrical content struck a chord. “Something about its unapologetic honesty really captivated me. I think that level of honesty and bluntness of being able to tell the world: ‘Hey! I’m pissed off!’ is very powerful and something that music has been craving, especially in today’s climate”

‘Had Enough‘ is the fourth track released from her forthcoming debut record due out later this year on Better Noise Records, following ‘Haunted‘, ‘Sleepwalking‘ and the breakout track ‘Coming In Hot‘. Produced by Howard Benson [Chris Cornell, Kelly Clarkson, My Chemical Romance, Halestorm], the upcoming collection brings to light a signature sound the artist has been developing meticulously since age 13. With her edgy style, sultry vocals, pop sensibility, and unabashed swagger, the Mexican-Italian-American solo artist draws from myriad influences and calls to mind legends from a spectrum of rock icons including Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Bowie.

Genre-blending Manchester collective Y.O.U.N.G have shared the video for their latest single ‘Lazy’, featuring their own ‘lazy hacks’. It premiered on Clash who said, “New single ‘Lazy’ is fast becoming their calling card, a tongue-in-cheek response to parents, teachers and other buzzkills”,

The youthful five-piece kick back in the new single with chilled hip-hop beats and mellow reggae guitars alongside a bleary-eyed flow, rising into an infectious chorus – all combining to create an anthem for lazy people across the world.

The group have now followed this up by revealing a video of them struggling through their daily routine, featuring a guide of hacks for lazy people, including car-based dog walking, kettle-based pasta cookery, and the inspired pizza-in-a-toaster.

Rapper Ben James said of the track, “Our whole lives people have been calling us lazy. The track plays on the idea of what we would do every day if we were as lazy as people said. It’s true everybody has lazy days, we are no exception, but overall the aim of ‘Lazy’ is to mock the idea that all we do is nothing.

“The chorus is written from the point of view of the patronising adult, whilst the rap verse gives a first hand view of what a lazy day would consist of. Even though the song is a mockery, we can’t deny that brews, candles and chilling are genuine passions of ours! Dressing gowns make an appearance in the live show, bringing the laid back bedroom vibes to the stage and adding to the tongue in cheek nature of the tune.”

The five-piece (Chez Davis – vocals/guitar, Ben James – rap, James Skehan – guitar/production, Tom Whitehead – bass and Graeme Smith – drums) have built a fervent fanbase across Europe with their cheeky genre mash-ups and extensive touring.

Y.O.U.N.G will be playing their first ever UK headline in association with Live Nation through February and March. The band will play five-dates calling at Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, London and Manchester. Tickets are on sale now via TicketWeb.

Bad Wolves’ cover of The Cranberries’ intergenerational hit single ‘Zombie’ continues to dominate rock and metal charts around the globe, with all proceeds from track donated to lead singer Dolores O’Riordan’s three children.

Today, the band reveals the official ‘Zombie’ music video, directed by Wayne Isham [Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth, Motley Crue]. It’s a powerful testament to the Cranberries’ singer, who was set to record with the band on the day of her tragic passing. The new video features an unreachable woman fully-realized in O’Riordan’s iconic gold from the original ‘Zombie’ video. Throughout the clip, she and frontman Tommy Vext try to touch each other but cannot. She leaves golden handprints with each attempt to touch.

In an exclusive statement, O’Riordan’s UK Publicist Lindsey Holmes, provided further insight into what the Irish singer thought of Bad Wolves’ version of the track: “Dolores was excited about plans to guest vocal on a cover version of her all time classic ‘Zombie’ by American rock band Bad Wolves. Although very different in style to the original, Dolores said she thought that the cover “was killer” and she was intrigued by the simple but effective couple of lyric changes that make the cover version as relevant to current world events as the original was to the events that inspired her to write the song in the early nineties.”

“For me Dolores was the strongest female voice in Rock for the past three decades,” explains Dan Waite, Managing Director Europe for Eleven Seven Label Group and the artist’s personal friend. “I have very bittersweet feelings about the last two voice messages Dolores left me on the day she passed about recording ‘Zombie’ with Bad Wolves. She was telling me Bad Wolves version was “awesome” and she could not wait to get into the studio, however ultimately her voicemails have brought comfort to her mother Eileen and her family as they heard her messages joking and talking passionately about music, her children, and future plans.

Her plans were cut short far too soon but the relevance of ‘Zombie’ and the legacy of her music continues to span generations. Bad Wolves’ Tommy Vext explains what compelled him to cover the song; “Her lyrics, confronting the collateral damage of political unrest, capture the same sentiment we wanted to express a quarter-century later. That is a testament to the kind of enduring artist Dolores was, and will remain forever.” 

Originally released in 1994 following the IRA bombing of Warrington, The Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ hit  #1 across the globe, including on the Billboard Alternative Songs charts. The song returned to the top ten on the US Rock Charts shortly after news of her passing was announced. That same week Bad Wolves released their version of ‘Zombie’ in her honour. In just four weeks, the cover has garnered over 3 Million combined streams (across YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music) and continues to climb the charts. Bad Wolves ‘Zombie’ is currently Top 20 at U.S. Rock Radio and sits atop rock and metal iTunes charts around the world.

Dan Owen has revealed the video for his acoustic piano version of ‘Icarus’, the latest track to be taken from his upcoming debut album, out later this year through Atlantic Records. In this new acoustic version, the rich instrumentation of the original gives way to haunting solo piano, accentuating the raw power of Owen’s vocals and transforming the track into an intimate and atmospheric account of despair and lamentation.

Released earlier this month, ‘Icarus’ is a dark and hard-hitting tale of drug abuse. The single itself features soaring guitars and expansive orchestral elements, as well as Dan Owen’s jaw-dropping vocals, and has already gained support from Radio 2. Listen to the original single HERE.

‘Icarus’ follows Dan’s previous singles ‘Made To Love You’ and ‘Hideaway’, all of which feature on his upcoming album. ‘Made To Love You’ has amassed over 10 million streams on Spotify, while his last single ‘Hideaway’ proved a highly praised radio hit. Multi-platinum selling rockers X Ambassadors have revealed the video for their latest single, ‘Don’t Stay’ – taken from their new album, ‘Joyful’, out this spring.

Following on from previous singles ‘Joyful’ and ‘Ahead Of Myself’, the video for ‘Don’t Stay’ is the third video of three to feature singer Sam Harris performing the vocals live. The video combines intimate close ups with lonely wide-angle shots, creating an atmospheric accompaniment to the song’s impassioned monologue.

X Ambassadors will be playing a European tour in March, with the LA based band playing Brixton Electric in London on 19th March. The band will also be playing songs from their gold certified debut album VHS which was released June 30th 2016, debuting at #7 on Billboard’s 200 chart and spawning multi-platinum singles ‘Renegades’ and ‘Unsteady’ as well as platinum single ‘Jungle’.

Swedish singer and producer Becky and the Birds has today released the video for her highly acclaimed debut single ‘Holding On’. The nostalgically-filmed home video footage captures intimate moments between couples in Stockholm.

Thea Gustafsson aka Becky and the Birds explains, “The video showcases my ability and desire to do things independently. By that I mean with creative control influenced by people I want to be surrounded by. It isn’t about me or my looks, since I don’t want that to be the focus of Becky and the Birds, instead it’s about holding on to something that’s meaningful to you, and what that is is up to the viewer’s discretion. I want it to be about the music and the world in and around it.

I invited friends and an amazingly talented videographer, Sandra Thorsson, because I knew they and she could help me achieve exactly what I wanted with that we were given. Out of it came a very homey DIY project that I am quite fond of. I hope you find something in it.”

‘Holding On’ has been released to widespread critical praise and even found the likes of Tove Lo tweeting about her admiration for the track. The song is a genre-spanning blend of lush electronics, with nods to trip-hop and ‘90s R&B alongside beautiful samples plucked from nature. The result is similar to the likes of SZA, Solange or even Ella Fitzgerald.

The release of ‘Holding On’ has instantly found Becky and the Birds becoming one of the most hotly-tipped new acts to come out of Sweden.

 

FURTHER INFORMAITON ON BECKY AND THE BIRDS

Becky and the Birds is the moniker of Thea Gustafsson, the 21-year-old from Örebro who writes, produces and sings all of her own music and attended the prestigious Musikmakarna Songwriters Academy of Sweden, which kickstarted the careers of LÉON and Skott.

Thea has already clocked up millions of streams as a topline vocalist in high profile collaborations, however these relentless sessions with all-male producers began to grate on her. “I always had this voice inside me—society’s voice—that was like ‘No, you can’t, ‘cos you’re a girl, that’s for the boys’” she explains.

“I was like, I can’t do this any more—having all these dudes mansplaining, sitting with their spread legs,” Thea says. “I was just so frustrated. When you have a really clear vision yourself, it’s difficult to compromise.

At one particularly bad session with a producer – “I felt the whole panic that you feel when you think you’re not good enough“ – it led her to develop a whole new guise; Becky and the Birds.

Taking responsibility for production, Becky and the Birds sees Thea in full control of her work, rejecting the pop saturated sound of her native Sweden and resulting in a true-to-self, multifaceted project.

Where pop tends to value visibility, Becky and the Birds favours obscurity. Casting a new personal signature with Becky and the Birds, Thea expresses her unique, genuine experiences in a sensual new sound.

Hey there, everyone!

I am so excited to finally be able to post about my first poem that is published in an online literary journal called Mangrove Journal. It’s the official journal put out at the University of Miami and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to be a part of it. Let me tell you how it all came about . . .

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved writing. I would write letters to people that I never intended to send. It was my way of expressing my innermost thoughts. I’ve always carried a journal, I was on the yearbook staff in high school, and I had countless notebooks with friends growing up. For some reason, I ventured off into other majors rather than going straight into English, writing or journalism. It wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally admitted to myself that this was the one thing that I was really good at, and the one thing I wanted to pursue.

When I enrolled in the University of Central Florida’s English/Creative Writing program, I signed up for a creative writing class that had one module focusing on poetry. As much as I’ve always loved writing, I’d never really attempted poetry. I felt like it was important for me to step outside of my comfort zone and really try to tackle it. With the help of a fantastic professor, I did well in the poetry module and signed up for two poetry workshops and an independent study in poetry after that semester. I can’t say that I’m the greatest poet who ever lived, but I think for someone who never ventured in that direction, I do pretty well. 😜

This particular poem that was published with Mangrove Journal is one that began as an epic fail. I’d written it as an assignment for class and it earned me a ‘D.’ As a perfectionist, I was devastated and disappointed in myself. I focused on reworking the entire poem and this was the end result. It proves that you can always fix a mistake, and that even if something is awful at first, hard work and dedication can make it great!

I am so incredibly thankful to the editors and everyone involved with the journal for accepting my piece for publication.

Catherine McGrath has shared a new acoustic version of ‘Thought It Was Gonna Be Me’, the latest track to be taken from her upcoming debut album, to be released in spring this year.

An intimate take on the original track, stripped back guitars and gentle harmonies accentuate Catherine’s haunting vocals and emotional lyrics. On release, ‘Thought It Was Gonna Be Me’ became her ninth consecutive New Music Friday UK playlisted track on Spotify and she is currently the face of Spotify’s ‘Very Nearly Nashville’ playlist.

The King’s Parade have today released their brand new single ‘Woman’. The song sees the highly acclaimed London quartet addressing the issues of gender imbalance which are witnessed on a daily basis in society.

‘Woman’ premiered with Mahogany who said, “The sentiment is worthy of praise. So too is the track. With a belting chorus and intelligent lyrics, Woman is a rich slice of alt-soul .”

Frontman Olly Corpe explains, “I see it every day and it never changes. It seems that it’s ingrained and that there’s just this biological barrier that we men can’t or won’t break down. The idea behind the chorus was to try and make the phrase “Like a Woman” celebratory and empowering, rather than derogatory or belittling. It conveys the strength and determination/force of a woman breaking through.

The opening verse depicts a magazine showing a model portraying how she is ‘meant to look’, something we’re all familiar with. The second verse focuses on the biological inequality, which all women have to face; time seems to be against them on almost every level. All of us in the band thought that it was important to voice how we feel and express our respect and admiration for women everywhere. Hopefully it will ring true for everybody who hears it.”

‘Woman’ follows the release of the Haze EP last year which saw the band receive high profile support from BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, The Independent, Wonderland, Alternative Press, EARMILK and many more.

Its release saw them appear at summer festivals including Secret Garden Party and Cornbury Festival while they played sold out headline shows across the UK and Europe. Most recently The King’s Parade have been nominated for three awards at the Unsigned Music Awards 2018 including Best Record, Best Produced Record and Best Jazz / Blues Act.

I’ve actually struggled with how to start this review of Justin Timberlake’s Pepsi Super Bowl LII Halftime Show and the week leading up to the performance. I typed out a few paragraphs and then deleted them because I want to focus on the performance itself as opposed to the horrible publicity. I’ll be doing a podcast on that later on, so check back in to hear what I thought.

The halftime performance was great. It was energetic, entertaining and it was just a really good show overall. There wasn’t anything really over-the-top, and I enjoyed the simplicity in that respect. Justin danced his way to several stages around the stadium, which added some flair of the performance. People seemed to be focused on the way Justin and his dancers were dressed for some reason, but what they fail to release is that he’s also promoting the new album and the outfits fit the theme really well. And, really, who the F*** cares about what they were wearing??? We were there to watch a performance, not a fashion show. I find it funny how people will nitpick about the silliest of things these days. (Not gonna lie, I did laugh at someone on Twitter saying that he looked like a clearance table at Bass Pro Shops though lmao. The only difference is that I don’t care what the heck they were wearing)

There was a lot of backlash surrounding the rumored Prince tribute and, while I think simply playing the actual video on the screens rather than projecting it onto a large piece of fabric would’ve been better, I think it was done tastefully. I really loved when the camera showed the city of Minneapolis light up with purple lights and then Prince’s symbol appeared in the lights. I know that the guys had some beef back in the day, but I’m a firm believer that you can like someone’s music without necessarily liking the person. If Justin hadn’t paid tribute to Prince in his home state, he would’ve gotten shit for it. Knowing that he was going to do it in the first place had the internet trolls rolling too. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t.

I also saw people claiming that JT was lip syncing, but that wasn’t true either. There were some sound issues in the beginning, but if you’re a fan of his music, you would be able to spot the differences. He wasn’t lip syncing.

Everyone seems to be a critic these days. I even saw someone call P!nk out on her rendition of Star Spangled Banner because she spit something out of her mouth beforehand. It was a throat lozenge because she was performing with the flu. That doesn’t get taken into consideration though. It just HAS to be something negative.

I enjoyed the show though. I liked the medley of songs he chose to perform, but I wish he had included “Supplies” or “Say Something” off his new album, Man of the Woods. If you stayed up late, you would’ve been able to catch those being performed on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.

SYNOPSIS: Valentina seems to have the perfect life in New York, with a perfect job and a perfect boyfriend, Jason Tate—far, far away from her scandalous political family in Mexico. When Jason proposes to her and wants to go to home to meet the family she has been keeping a secret, her two worlds clash. Adding to the hilarious chaos, her family brings her ex, Angel, into the picture and convinces Valentina to go along with a sham marriage to him in an effort to stop further negative press as her father runs for re-election. In the end, Valentina must choose where her heart belongs.

SINOPSIS: Valentina aparentemente tiene la vida perfecta en Estados Unidos.
