VISTA ANNOUNCES “THE BLOODLUST TOUR”

IMG_1899

After an eventful 2017 for alternative rock outfit VISTA, the band has announced their first tour of 2018, “The Bloodlust Tour”. The month-long run consists of 25 dates, spanning across the US Northeast, Midwest, and South. “The Bloodlust Tour” will also feature Florida rockers Brightside as direct regional support for 8 southern dates, from 7/9 – 7/17. The band has teased that there will be new music played, an all-new set, new merch items, and a “Long Live” one year anniversary show in their hometown (Long Island, 7/19). Limited VIP packages will be made available in select cities via individual ticket link, which will be announced in the coming weeks. Since the completion of their last tour, “The Oasis Tour” in November 2017, VISTA has been in the studio with ZK Productions (Mayday Parade, Set It Off, Chapel) working on new material, although no official release timeline for new music has been announced.

An electronically-tinged alternative rock band, NY-based outfit VISTA originally formed in late 2015. Comprised of lead vocalist Hope Vista and guitarist Greg Almeida, the band combines both modern alternative rock and electronic influences to create their unique anthemic sound. VISTA released their debut 4-track EP “VERSUS” shortly after their original inception, in which their debut single “On The Brink” debuted worldwide on idobi radio. Their name hasn’t been shy in the press, since; the band has garnered praise from outlets such as Alternative Press, Rock Sound, Substream, and AXS.  In 2017, VISTA released their highly anticipated sophomore EP “Long Live,” featuring the lead single “Allegiance, played at Irving Plaza, gained idobi rotation with their single “Henchmen”, and completed  two headlining tours “Long Live” immediately made its’ way onto three different iTunes Alternative charts, including peaking at #10 on the top selling $5.99 albums, and sparked the completion of two promotional tours, in August and November, respectively. “The Bloodlust Tour” kicks off on June 25th in New Hampshire. Tickets are available via their website or Bandsintown.

NAHKO Reveals ‘Hamakua’ Video

RELEASES VIDEO FOR ‘HAMAKUA’

NEW ACOUSTIC EP HAMAKUA AVAILABLE NOW

Singer/Songwriter Nahko has released the official music video for ‘Hamakua’. The single is the third from his debut solo album, My Name Is Bear, following the release of ‘Dragonfly’ and ‘Be Here Now’, and is the title track from his upcoming acoustic EP.

The video features never-before-seen home videos of Nahko from when he first began performing and originally wrote the song at age 18.

Nahko said of the video, “Finally, to Hamakua. The breath of the Creator. The birthing place of so many of the popular Medicine for the People songs. The Hamakua coast rolls along the rocky east side of the Big Island of Hawai’i, a place where I lived for nearly a decade; a place that served as the foundation for my awakening.

I teamed up with filmmaker Dom Walczuk again, the same director who made a number of our first music videos and documentaries on the Big Island, which now have millions of views, and we schemed to tell a reminiscent story of a bear, an island, and a community that grew a young cub and his music. We collected shots that Dom had in the vault from years back and patch worked them with VHS footage I had taken as a teenager of my first open mics and piano recitals. Then we laid foundation shots of who I am now on island, on horseback, in the ocean, to create a juxtaposition of ‘then and now’.

The result is a collage of time well spent and I’m proud to present this visual storyboard that nods to the magic found on the ‘piko’ of the Pacific and within the sounds of my personal journey as a young man. ‘Oi kau ka Iā, e hana i ola honua – while the earth still moves, do all you can. Eo!”

Nahko embarked on his solo acoustic tour last month, with support from Trevor Hall. A hugely accomplished pianist and guitarist, the shows brought a different interpretation to both his new solo work and his catalogue with Medicine For The People. Starting on April 18th in Dublin, the tour included six UK shows, including a sold out date at London’s Omeara on the 23rd.

Over the last five years, Nahko And Medicine For The People have continued to gather dedicated members of their global tribe of likeminded fans as they spread their powerful musical message. They incorporate a variety of sounds, ranging from alternative roots to acoustic rock while promoting social change. Their album HOKA debuted at #10 on Billboard’s Rock Album Chart and #6 on the Alternative Album Chart.

Nahko’s solo album, My Name Is Bear, debuted on a number of Billboard charts on its release in October last year including Independent Albums (#11), Tastemakers (#14), Emerging Artists (#19), Top Album Sales (#43), and the Top 200 Albums. The album also premiered at #1 on iTunes and the headline tour in support of it boasted multiple sold-out dates both Stateside and in Europe.

My Name Is Bear is a 16-track collection that reflects the soul, authenticity and spirit that Nahko’s fans have come to know. It predates Nahko’s rise to iconic status among diehard fans of Medicine For The People. As he puts it, the album serves as a “prequel,” that artfully merges rustic acoustic guitars, upbeat energy, tribal flavors, fiery percussion, and ponderous lyrics.

At the end of the day, My Name Is Bear sets the stage for a whole lot more from Nahko.

Artist to Watch | Part Two : AMBER RUN

IMG_0367

Three years ago, my niece introduced me to a song called “I Found” by a band I’d never heard of. I was immediately hooked on the sound they had together, so I checked out their EP’s and looked up their name, AMBER RUN.

I decided to feature Amber Run as my “Artist to Watch” back when I was first starting my blog around the same time (you can read that original post HERE). Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait long for a full-length album because their first was released on April 27, 2015. Their debut album, 5AM, doesn’t have one weak song on it, and I definitely think you should check it out! Here’s the track listing for the deluxe version of 5AM:

  1. Found
  2. M.F. (Interlude)
  3. Spark
  4. Hurricane
  5. Noah
  6. Pilot
  7. C.F. Interlude
  8. 5AM
  9. Just My Soul Responding
  10. Good Morning
  11. Shiver
  12. See You Soon
  13. Don’t Wanna Fight
  14. Where Do We Go From Here
  15. Little Ghost
  16. Heaven
  17. Kites

Their second full-length album, For a Moment, I Was Lost, was released in 2017 and here’s the track listing for that one:

  1. Insomniac
  2. No Answers
  3. Island
  4. Stranger
  5. Fickle Game
  6. Haze
  7. White Lie
  8. Perfect
  9. Dark Bloom
  10. Machine
  11. Are You Home?
  12. Wastelands

IMG_0366As you can see, Amber Run is definitely NOT holding back any punches. One of their songs, “Fickle Game,” was featured on the finale of Suits and today they announced that they’re finally making their way over to the US for a show on December 8 in Brooklyn, NY. All I need is for them to travel a bit south (to Florida) and I’ll be one happy, music-loving woman!

If you haven’t heard them yet, do yourself a favor and check them out. You can thank me later. Also, if that weren’t enough, they have an EP titled The Assembly that will be released on May 11, 2018!

You can find more information about Amber Run by visiting their website HERE.

Here’s the video for the song that got me hooked on this incredibly talent band. Check it out and let me know what you think!

CATHERINE MCGRATH Shares Official Video For ‘Wild’

A BAD DATE AT A COLDPLAY SHOW INSPIRES
THE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘WILD’

WATCH IT HERE

FROM THE DEBUT ALBUM
TALK OF THIS TOWN
WHICH FOLLOWS ON JULY 27TH ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS

Plays sold-out London show at Bush Hall on May 2nd

Set to support Michael Bublé
at British Summer Time in Hyde Park on July 13th

At a time when country music is exploding into the mainstream with huge collaborations between Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton, and Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line, Catherine McGrath is poised to become the first international crossover star from the burgeoning UK country scene.

That superstar-to-be status is underlined with the release of a brand new official video for her current single ‘Wild’. Contrasting fun times in Nashville with a romantic interest with being effectively alone at a gig, the bittersweet video reflects Catherine’s own experiences of going on a date to a Coldplay show with a guy who was still fixated on his ex.  The video was directed by Justin Nolan Key (Taylor Swift, Cassadee Pope).

“I grew up inspired by so many artists who were based in Nashville and obviously the country music scene is so huge there, so to have filmed this in the heart of the city was incredible,” says Catherine. “My last two videos used home footage and animation, so it was cool to do something so different for ‘Wild’ – especially as it tells such a specific story. It’s definitely my favourite song and video that I’ve released so far.”

WATCH IT HERE

Catherine co-wrote the song with Steve Robson as well as Lindy Robbins (Dua Lipa) and Jeffrey Steele (Rascal Flatts). The track previews the July 27th release of her debut album Talk Of This Town, which was recorded at various locations in Nashville and London, and affirms Catherine’s credentials as an artist and songwriter to be reckoned with.

The album Talk Of This Town features three tracks which have each exceeded a million streams at Spotify in the shape of the ‘Cinderella’, ‘Thought It Was Gonna Be Me’ and ‘Just In Case’ as well as a wealth of new material. Other highlights include ‘Don’t Let Me Forget’, a duet with the American country sensation Hunter Hayes; the anthemic ‘Lost In The Middle’, a celebration of the escapist qualities of country music; and the closing ‘She’ll Never Lose You’, a stripped-back ballad which showcases the power and finesse of Catherine’s vocal.

Raised in Rostrevor, a small rural village in Northern Ireland, Catherine McGrath is the personification of how country music is opening its borders to talent from far outside of its epicentre in Nashville. In fact, Catherine was immediately embraced by the community upon her first visit.

Working with a kindred spirit in the shape of producer Steve Robson – a Geordie who became a force within the scene after co-writing Rascal Flatts’ smash hit ‘What Hurts The Most’ – Catherine went onto collaborate with a number of Nashville powerhouse producers and co-writers such as Jimmy Robbins (Keith Urban), Liz Rose (Taylor Swift), Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini) and Sam Ellis (Hunter Hayes).

Country music is of course rooted in Irish folk, so it feels natural that Catherine is at the forefront of a new wave of country. It’s fitting on a personal level too. Catherine was raised in a music loving family, and has regularly performed at her parents’ spirited Fiddler’s Green festival, which attracts musicians from as far afield as North America and Germany. And when Catherine was ready to reach a wider audience, she posted covers of her favorite country songs to YouTube which resulted in her obtaining management and signing a deal with Warner Bros. Records.

Hailed as a major new talent by Sir Elton John, Catherine McGrath’s ascent has been backed by Radio 1 support from Adele Roberts, Scott Mills and Cel Spellman; a playlist at Radio 2, where Bob Harris has been a long-term fan; and ten consecutive tracks which have been added to Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist.

Catherine McGrath is quickly building a reputation in the live area too, with highlights including two performances at Country 2 Country, further festivals including Latitude and Wilderness, and tours with Dan & Shay and The Shires. Her debut London headline show at Camden Assembly was sold-out, while next month’s Bush Hall gig also sold-out within two hours and her Manchester show at the Deaf Institute soon followed suit. Ticket sales are also strong in Glasgow, which looks set to sell-out imminently.

Her touring profile has just been boosted with the news that she’ll support Michael Bublé at the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park on July 13th.

Hailed as a major new talent by Sir Elton John, Catherine McGrath’s ascent has been backed by Radio 1 support from Adele Roberts, Scott Mills and Cel Spellman; a playlist at Radio 2, where Bob Harris has been a long-term fan.

Now Catherine McGrath is set to make the biggest statement of her career to date with the July 27th release of her debut album Talk Of This Town. To coincide with the album’s launch, Catherine today releases her new single ‘Wild’, a lovelorn country-flavoured pop smash that was inspired by her experiences at a Coldplay show, and is her tenth consecutive New Music Friday UK playlisted track on Spotify.

Catherine explains:  “This song is one of my favourites I’ve written. It’s about a guy who I liked but who still wasn’t over his ex. He took me to a Coldplay concert that he was meant to go to with his ex and half the time he was holding my hand, the other half he was texting her. Every time we were together he was only ever halfway there and the day after the concert I went into the studio and ended up writing about the whole thing. It’s really honest and I think that’s what I love most about it.”

Catherine co-wrote the song with Steve Robson as well as Lindy Robbins (Dua Lipa) and Jeffrey Steele (Rascal Flatts).

Recorded at various locations in Nashville and London, Talk Of This Town affirms Catherine’s credentials as an artist and songwriter to be reckoned with. KENDELL MARVEL CONFIRMED AS SPECIAL GUEST

Brothers Osborne have released the new track ‘Pushing Up Daisies (Love Alive)’, which is taken from their forthcoming album Port Saint Joe, due out April 20th via Snakefarm Records.

‘Pushing Up Daisies…’ is available to anyone who pre-orders the album here; Port Saint Joe also features the lead single ‘Shoot Me Straight’, which went directly onto the Planet Rock Radio A-list. You can watch the video for ‘Shoot Me Straight’ here, showing footage of the band in the studio.

In addition, the duo’s first ever headline tour of the UK & Ireland, set to take place in May, is now virtually sold-out, with just a handful of tickets remaining for the Dublin, Belfast and Bristol shows only, and the venue in Glasgow having to be upgraded due to phenomenal demand.

Illinois songwriter / vocalist / guitarist Kendell Marvel, who co-wrote with the Brothers on certain of the latest songs, including the new track ‘Pushing Up Daisies (Love Alive)’, supports across the aforementioned dates.

Recorded in a Florida beach house in the town of Port St. Joe, away from the sometimes sterile environs of the studio, Port Saint Joe is the Maryland brothers’ second studio effort. Raw, honest and uniquely homemade, the record was mostly captured in a series of live takes, retaining the atmospheric background noises of wind, roaring water and the excited and ‘refreshed’ encouragement of visiting Nashville friends. This unconventional location proved a perfect complement to the Brothers’ music, which instinctively bends both rules and genres…

“Port Saint Joe’ is a sonic representation of who we’ve become, not only as a band but as people,” says guitarist John Osborne. “Every show we’ve ever played together is on this record. Every song we’ve ever written and every mile we’ve ever ridden has led to the making of this record. Imperfections and all.”

Vocalist / guitarist TJ adds, “We shacked up for two weeks to make an unabashed record that would reflect who we are in every way, and in the process we had the most enjoyable and memorable recording experience of our lives.”

A diverse collection, Port Saint Joe touches on half-lit drinking songs, emotive ballads, southern slow jams and roots-y rave-ups. The result is a record that’s both familiar and fresh, mixing classic country touchstones with amplified guitars and memorable hooks. In short, a 10-track collection for the modern age – forward-thinking and versatile, with songs that nod to the past whilst still pushing forward into new territory.

If Pawn Shop, the Brothers’ debut outing (re-issued via Snakefarm in 2017) introduced them in style, then Port St. Joe comprehensively defines them.

LONDON’S HOUSE OF VANS MAY 16TH

Conceived in the shadow of New York City in the dying embers of 2016, some 20 miles west of its lavish neon clutches, The Nectars rapidly climbed out of the tangled New Jersey suburbs to thrust themselves into the local alternative rock consciousness. Their punk-inflamed guitars, inventive harmonies, trashy beats, funkadelia and raw vocals lay a foundation that’s got NYC hipsters buzzing around their scorching live performance.

Harking back to the New York punk / pop scene of the late 70’s but filtered through the modern sensibility of tech-savvy millennial creatives, their first two singles – ‘Heaven’ and ‘I Want It’ – have been released to much acclaim in the USA, UK and mainland Europe.

Their debut album Sci-Fi Television is a ferocious, euphoric, sarcastic, brilliant slice of sleazy pop genius. Recorded at Barbershop studios in New Jersey and Studio G in Brooklyn, it’s a nine-song collection of short, sharp bangers, each with their own individual sound delving into art-rock debauchery.

The work of lead singer Jessica Kenny, Mike Montalbano (drums/vocals), Jon Paul (bass) and Michael Baron (guitar), the band describe the album as their search for inner peace and an attempt to escape from some of the evils that have taken center-stage in the world.

“’Sci-Fi Television’ is our cumulative answer to the last 60 years of rock music, dissected on our alien operating table. Immensely personal and sometimes profoundly goofy, we wrote these songs as an attempted escape from all the real life monsters surrounding us. What we didn’t realize initially was isolating ourselves from the turmoil of news media left us alone with an entirely different beast. Ourselves. Picking apart the bad habits of our 20’s through song brought clarity to our band message. Profound societal change begins from within. There’s no hiding from yourself. With that in mind we’re abducting Rock N Roll, and never bringing it back. Enjoy.”

Opener ‘Holy’ races off on a 1 minute, 17 second frenzy, inspired by the band’s personal frustrations with the discovery of lead found in the water of the city and the local governments “deal with it” attitude. The space-age video for ‘I Want It’ showcases the band’s off-kilter personality, with debut single ‘Heaven’ demonstrating their gloriously technicolor performance.

Upcoming single ‘We Will Run’, is an anthem for all the dreamers, with its calmer, indie-pop style, topped with Jessica’s beautiful and distinctive vocals, while the track ‘Don’t Panic’ kicks in with a pounding bass drum and running guitar lick before Jessica lays waste with the lines; “Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please / first of all, don’t panic, but the building is on fire / The firemen aren’t coming, they’re all saving their own families / and the worst part is that we stopped paying them so long ago”.

‘Lights Off’ radiates a feel-good ambience, with upbeat melodies and themes of sex, highs and partying, questioning “What’s it for? / This life’s a waste if you don’t take it for more”, while closing the album is the snappy ‘Tired’ which ramps up their sassy, punk style, with Jon Paul sharing vocal duties reminiscing on their fun nights out.

The band draw influences from a ragged mix of The Ramones, Patti Smith, The Pixies and Blondie while earning comparisons to peak 90’s era No Doubt and Paramore. This quirky debut is fun, abrasive and a straight to the point indie-punk pleasure. It’s a perfect introduction to this fiery four-piece, who continue their assault on the US, UK and beyond.

The Nectars will be heading over to the UK this May having already whipped up a storm in New York, to perform a number of shows including a headline date at London’s House Of Vans on May 16th before playing at The Great Escape festival the following day, as well as sold out shows in Pontypridd and Birmingham plus slots at this year’s Dot To Dot festival.

THE RUBENS Release ‘Never Ever’ Ft. Sarah & Announce Third Album

THE RUBENS

IMG_3642

ANNOUNCE THIRD ALBUM
LO LA RU

OUT JUNE 29TH

NEW SINGLE OUT NOW
‘NEVER EVER (FEAT. SARAH)’
LISTEN HERE

The Rubens have announced their third album, LO LA RU – a bold and confident record that effortlessly picks up from where their worldwide hit single ‘Hoops’ left off. The album is out Friday June 29th and is available to pre-order now.

To coincide with the announcement, the group are incredibly excited to release the powerful new single, premiered via triple j’s DRIVE program, titled ‘Never Ever’ featuring Sarah Aarons – a relatable and heart wrenching tale with Sam Margin and Sarah’s voices acting as yin and yang, so different, but so perfectly matched and harmonious within the track.

When Elliott and Sam Margin got an email letting them know that ARIA Award winning, Grammy Award nominated songwriter Sarah Aarons was going to be in Sydney for the holidays, was a fan of theirs and was keen to write a song with them, the guys thought “why not”. At that point, they were on their way to Brooklyn to put the finishing touches on their highly anticipated third album.

The band went into the studio with no expectations. In their mind, the album was done and whatever came out of the session would be an experiment in collaboration, something new for the band, or, much like Sarah’s long list of songwriting credits (LDRU/ZEDD & Alessia Cara/Dua Lipa/Jesse Ware), something for another artist to use.

Elliott said of the collaboration: “The day we met Sarah in the studio, she told us that her Grade 10 teacher introduced her to our song ‘Lay It Down’ and that is what inspired her to do music in Year 11 & 12. We were pretty blown away with that; a good sentiment to start writing a song together.

We actually thought with the album completed we would be writing a song for someone else.  The main chord structure and melody was something I had been fiddling with for a while but couldn’t find the words or story for. After meeting Sarah and having a chat we got stuck into the song, started throwing ideas around. Pretty quickly we realised it needed to be a duet and from there the story started to take shape.

The song became about these two lovers caught in the moment as their relationship drops away. There’s to-ing and fro-ing as they pass blame and second guess their actions before they realise that what they had is already over.”

It wasn’t until the song sat with the band for a few days that they realised just how ‘Rubens’ the track was, and just how much they wanted it on their third record, LO LA RU.

On LO LA RU The Rubens used the success of single ‘Hoops’ as an opportunity to spread their creative wings, pushing their music into new territory that is exciting for them, and hopefully by extension, their audience as well.

The story of the album began at the 2013 Laneway Music Festival, where The Rubens befriended NYC rapper EL-P (Run The Jewels) and his band, which included his Run The Jewels producers/collaborators, brothers Wilder Zoby and Lil’ Shalimar (aka Torbitt Schwartz). In 2017, this friendship turned into a musical collaboration when both producers flew out from the bustling streets of New York City to the band’s newly created recording studio, housed in a World War II communications bunker in the outskirts of Camden in Sydney’s deep South West. It was here that LO LA RU came to life.

Indeed, LO LA RU presents a fully realised sound that picks up on the r ‘n b and hip hop influence that was hinted at on songs like ‘Hoops’, ‘Bitter End’, bringing those stylistic references to the fore, without losing any of the soulful warmth that typified their earliest tracks like ‘Lay It Down’ and ‘My Gun’ and won them the adoration of fans all over Australia and the world.

2018 has already been a huge year for the group. After last year’s October release of the exuberant party jam ‘Million Man’, the first taste of LO LA RU, the band played to local audiences at the likes of The Sydney Opera House and The Forum before embarking on a global tour – one that saw the band sell out shows in Vancouver, Toronto, and Chicago. At the beginning of this month, the band played the London date of their tour to a packed out and ecstatic The Scala.

Indeed, the band are back and eager to build on the excitement of their first two albums, The Rubens & Hoops, that have gone Platinum and Gold respectively in Australia. 2018 is set to be a big one for The Rubens – with more exciting news to be revealed soon!

Death Team’s MAYKA Releases Debut Single ‘Rich’

MAYKA

IMG_3263

‘RICH’
DEBUT SINGLE OUT NOW
VIA WARNER MUSIC

LISTEN ON SPOTIFY / SOUNDCLOUD

FIRST SOLO RELEASE FROM THE SINGER OF ELECTRO POP DUO
DEATH TEAM

Swedish producer and singer MAYKA has today released her debut single ‘Rich’ through Warner Music.

Opening with sultry future bass before breaking into a huge anthemic pop chorus, ‘Rich’ finds MAYKA celebrating the true finer things in life including love, relationships and friendships while casting away materialistic ideologies. The single is produced by LIOHN who also was behind Axwell & Ingrosso’s smash hits ‘More Than You Know’ and ‘Renegade’.

Regarding the single MAYKA says, “From the beginning ‘Rich’ was about a relationship scenario – I pictured hanging with someone who’s just showing off, bragging and being fake. But lately the song feels more like a message from my subconscious to myself – that I’m the one who should stop aiming for superficial goals like money and success. Either way it’s about being more real and authentic, focusing on the joy of living, sharing and creating instead of chasing highs and trying to be something you’re not. Soundwise I think it feels like a perfect mix between MGMT, Lorde and Britney Spears. But with a little nice bass, hip-hop and trap stuff going on.”

The single marks the first release of the solo project from Mayka Edd, one half of the acclaimed electro-pop-rap duo Death Team, who have gained high profile support from the likes of Charli XCX, The Guardian, Noisey, SPIN Magazine, DIY among many others over a string of fantastic singles.

Before Death Team, Mayka first rose to prominence in dance music as a DJ and producer playing at parties across the US and Asia, while also running her own show on Swedish Radio P3.

She became obsessively dedicated to learning everything she possibly could about production, mixing and DJing, but being a female in the male-dominated electronic music scene meant that she was all too often considered to be a novelty rather than an artist who deserved equal respect. Rather than break in the face of adversity, Mayka resolved to battle back against a culture ruled by mansplaining DJs.

Now as a solo artist she hopes to inspire a new wave of young female talent to pursue their own passion projects in the arts and beyond. The essence of her message is simple:

Follow your dreams, don’t be afraid to fail, be who you want to be, and carve out your own place in society.

Shawn Mendes Drops Two New Singles Ahead Of New Album

Shawn Mendes dropped two new singles this week in preparation for his forthcoming album. “In My Blood” was released at midnight on March 22 and “Lost In Japan” was released at midnight this morning. The internet has lost its chill, ladies and gentlemen.

IMG_3215

“In My Blood” is the first single from Mendes’ upcoming third album. The singer/songwriter’s last LP, Illuminate, came out in September of 2016. It debuted at Number One.

On a personal level, I don’t think I’ve ever related to a song as much as I do with “In My Blood.”  In the clip below, Shawn discusses the song with Zane Lowe (full interview will be up on Apple Music soon) and says that despite the song sounding sad, he’s actually ok. I think a common misconception regarding people who experience anxiety is that they’re not ok. That they’re always reclusive and in this state of sadness. I’m sure some do experience it in that way, but not everyone is in a constant state of anxiety. I appreciate the fact that Shawn wrote a song about that sort of battle with feeling anxious and like things can’t get better, but that it’s not in his blood to just give up.

I’m not sure when I started experiencing anxiety, but I was triggered when my grandparents passed away within 5 months of each other. Within the next two years, I lost my Abuela (my last remaining grandparent), my golden retriever and my father. Anxiety does something to you that is hard to explain to someone who is unaware of what it feels like. I’ve had friends disappear because they can’t understand why I don’t want to be with a large group of people I don’t know. I’ve had friends not invite me to baby showers and birthday get-togethers because they assume I’ll decline the invite. What they don’t understand is that I don’t always feel like that, but when I feel unappreciated and unloved by those that I care about, it puts me back in that anxious mood. Anxiety is a tricky thing to manage. It’s important to listen to those around you. Don’t dismiss their feelings just because you don’t understand them. Listen to them. Try and learn ways that help them through whatever it is they’re going through rather than telling them to just get over it. That doesn’t help.

“In My Blood” encompasses those feelings with a sound that is very Shawn Mendes/Kings of Leon and it’s absolutely fantastic. Not to mention the fact that he’s been working with Ryan Tedder, Teddy Geiger and other legends on the new album. Here’s a note that Shawn posted on his social media prior to the release of the new track:

You can check out the track on Apple Music and anywhere else you stream music. Let me know what you think. Do you relate to the song as well?

Australian Country Sensation MORGAN EVANS Announces UK Performances At C2C

AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY SENSATION

MORGAN EVANS

ANNOUNCES UK PERFORMANCES AT
C2C FESTIVAL
9TH – 10TH MARCH

THE US HIT SINGLE ‘KISS SOMEBODY’
AND BRAND NEW TRACK: ‘I DO’
OUT NOW

JOINS JAMES BLUNT ON HIS AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Following the release of his single ‘Kiss Somebody’ and new track ‘I Do’, Australian-born country star Morgan Evans will be returning to the UK next month to perform at this year’s Country 2 Country Festival in London and Glasgow.

“I visited the UK for the first time last year and just fell in love with the country and its music fans,” says Evans. “There’s a depth of passion for music there unlike anywhere else. C2C 2018 will be my third visit and I couldn’t be more stoked to return to London and Glasgow.”

Already a bona-fide music sensation in his native Australia, and highly acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone and Billboard in the US – both of whom have tipped him for success in 2018 – his new music is shaped by a love of artists like Ed Sheeran and Keith Urban, alongside many other Nashville greats where he now resides, having signed a global record deal with Warner Music Nashville / Warner Bros. Records.

Last year Evans released his debut US single ‘Kiss Somebody’, which he wrote with Chris DeStefano and Josh Osborne. The track has become a major radio hit in multiple countries and debuted on Spotify’s Viral Charts at #15 in the US and #26 globally, with over 19 million streams to date.

The visually impressive, one-of-a-kind accompanying video was released in December 2017 and features a nearly single-shot film in extreme slow-motion.

His newest track ‘I Do’, pays homage to loved ones and was inspired by his now wife and fellow country artist Kelsea Ballerini. As a result of these two tracks, Evans has made a huge splash in the US and in addition to Rolling Stone’s praise for his “velvety voice rasping in all the right places” he has been crowned as one of CMT’s #18for2018 artists.

The upcoming performances at C2C mark his third time back on UK soil after playing a run of headline dates last June, before returning for his acclaimed visit here in October. He’s also set to join James Blunt for three landmark shows in Australia, before heading back to the US for shows in April with Chris Young and Kane Brown.

DIAMANTE Reveals Thelma And Louise Inspired Video For ‘Had Enough’

DIAMANTE

REVEALS THELMA AND LOUISE
INSPIRED VIDEO FOR
HAD ENOUGH

IMG_2864

Made in support of the #MeToo movement with an all female team, it pays tribute to the classic female friendship road trip film

“I think especially in today’s social climate, it’s both important and powerful to be able to tell the world ‘I’ve had enough, I’m pissed off, and it’s time for change.” – Diamante

Had Enough‘ follows Diamante’s ‘Coming In Hot‘ official video
which has now been streamed more than 1 million times

Diamante has been making a big noise. With a series of feisty, well-received singles…the anthemic ‘Had Enough’ [is] a perfectly timed cover of a song originally released by English alt-rockers Lower Than Atlantis in 2016. – Team Rock (She Rocks Campaign, 2018)

As her sultry and show-stopping video for ‘Coming In Hot‘ crosses 1 Million YouTube streams, 21-year-old Diamante shows she’s more than meets the eye in the brand new video for her female empowerment video anthem ‘Had Enough‘.

Shot on location in Palm Springs CA, Diamante enlisted an all-female team to create the ultimate gal-pal road trip video, which pays homage to the classic pissed-off-chick-flick Thelma and Louise. Taking the desert by storm alongside actress Mackenna Johnson, the video features a behind-the scenes cast including Director/Producer Sofia Lane, production crew Rose Lu and Alyssa Mordal, and camera work by Tania Espinosa Cueva. Each woman is up-and-coming in her respective field.

“It’s critical to see more women at the top of fields traditionally dominated by men,” explains Diamante on her decision to hire women for this shoot. “But in order to do that, we need to give women a chance to get their foot in the door. It was very important to me to create opportunities for other women in the making of this video”

Originally recorded by Lower Than Atlantis, Diamante decided to put her stamp on the song because the strong lyrical content struck a chord. “Something about its unapologetic honesty really captivated me. I think that level of honesty and bluntness of being able to tell the world: ‘Hey! I’m pissed off!’ is very powerful and something that music has been craving, especially in today’s climate”

Had Enough‘ is the fourth track released from her forthcoming debut record due out later this year on Better Noise Records, following ‘Haunted‘, ‘Sleepwalking‘ and the breakout track ‘Coming In Hot‘. Produced by Howard Benson [Chris Cornell, Kelly Clarkson, My Chemical Romance, Halestorm], the upcoming collection brings to light a signature sound the artist has been developing meticulously since age 13. With her edgy style, sultry vocals, pop sensibility, and unabashed swagger, the Mexican-Italian-American solo artist draws from myriad influences and calls to mind legends from a spectrum of rock icons including Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Bowie.

“If it’s difficult to know where to place Y.O.U.N.G then that’s probably mission accomplished for the Manchester collective… the group fuse hip-hop beats with an outlandish pop touch” – CLASH

UK HEADLINE TOUR
STARTS THIS WEEK

Genre-blending Manchester collective Y.O.U.N.G have shared the video for their latest single ‘Lazy’, featuring their own ‘lazy hacks’. It premiered on Clash who said, “New single ‘Lazy’ is fast becoming their calling card, a tongue-in-cheek response to parents, teachers and other buzzkills”,

The youthful five-piece kick back in the new single with chilled hip-hop beats and mellow reggae guitars alongside a bleary-eyed flow, rising into an infectious chorus – all combining to create an anthem for lazy people across the world.

The group have now followed this up by revealing a video of them struggling through their daily routine, featuring a guide of hacks for lazy people, including car-based dog walking, kettle-based pasta cookery, and the inspired pizza-in-a-toaster.

Rapper Ben James said of the track, “Our whole lives people have been calling us lazy. The track plays on the idea of what we would do every day if we were as lazy as people said. It’s true everybody has lazy days, we are no exception, but overall the aim of ‘Lazy’ is to mock the idea that all we do is nothing.

“The chorus is written from the point of view of the patronising adult, whilst the rap verse gives a first hand view of what a lazy day would consist of. Even though the song is a mockery, we can’t deny that brews, candles and chilling are genuine passions of ours! Dressing gowns make an appearance in the live show, bringing the laid back bedroom vibes to the stage and adding to the tongue in cheek nature of the tune.”

The five-piece (Chez Davis – vocals/guitar, Ben James – rap, James Skehan – guitar/production, Tom Whitehead – bass and Graeme Smith – drums) have built a fervent fanbase across Europe with their cheeky genre mash-ups and extensive touring.

Y.O.U.N.G will be playing their first ever UK headline in association with Live Nation through February and March. The band will play five-dates calling at Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, London and Manchester. Tickets are on sale now via TicketWeb.

Bad Wolves Donating Proceeds To O’Riordan’s Three Children

New Dates Announced With Five Finger Death Punch & Shinedown

“Bad Wolves’ interpretation of ‘Zombie’ is moody like the Cranberries’, though the instrumentation sounds clearer and more cutting.”Rolling Stone

Bad Wolves’ cover of The Cranberries’ intergenerational hit single ‘Zombie’ continues to dominate rock and metal charts around the globe, with all proceeds from track donated to lead singer Dolores O’Riordan’s three children.

Today, the band reveals the official ‘Zombie’ music video, directed by Wayne Isham [Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth, Motley Crue]. It’s a powerful testament to the Cranberries’ singer, who was set to record with the band on the day of her tragic passing. The new video features an unreachable woman fully-realized in O’Riordan’s iconic gold from the original ‘Zombie’ video. Throughout the clip, she and frontman Tommy Vext try to touch each other but cannot. She leaves golden handprints with each attempt to touch.

In an exclusive statement, O’Riordan’s UK Publicist Lindsey Holmes, provided further insight into what the Irish singer thought of Bad Wolves’ version of the track: “Dolores was excited about plans to guest vocal on a cover version of her all time classic ‘Zombie’ by American rock band Bad Wolves. Although very different in style to the original, Dolores said she thought that the cover “was killer” and she was intrigued by the simple but effective couple of lyric changes that make the cover version as relevant to current world events as the original was to the events that inspired her to write the song in the early nineties.”

“For me Dolores was the strongest female voice in Rock for the past three decades,” explains Dan Waite, Managing Director Europe for Eleven Seven Label Group and the artist’s personal friend. “I have very bittersweet feelings about the last two voice messages Dolores left me on the day she passed about recording ‘Zombie’ with Bad Wolves. She was telling me Bad Wolves version was “awesome” and she could not wait to get into the studio, however ultimately her voicemails have brought comfort to her mother Eileen and her family as they heard her messages joking and talking passionately about music, her children, and future plans.

Her plans were cut short far too soon but the relevance of ‘Zombie’ and the legacy of her music continues to span generations. Bad Wolves’ Tommy Vext explains what compelled him to cover the song; “Her lyrics, confronting the collateral damage of political unrest, capture the same sentiment we wanted to express a quarter-century later. That is a testament to the kind of enduring artist Dolores was, and will remain forever.”

Originally released in 1994 following the IRA bombing of Warrington, The Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ hit  #1 across the globe, including on the Billboard Alternative Songs charts. The song returned to the top ten on the US Rock Charts shortly after news of her passing was announced. That same week Bad Wolves released their version of ‘Zombie’ in her honour. In just four weeks, the cover has garnered over 3 Million combined streams (across YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music) and continues to climb the charts. Bad Wolves ‘Zombie’ is currently Top 20 at U.S. Rock Radio and sits atop rock and metal iTunes charts around the world.
