The multi-platinum rock group Five Finger Death Punch has teamed up with the legendary Brian May of Queen and two of the biggest names in country and blues rock, Brantey Gilbert and Kenny Wayne Shepherd to record a special version of the song ‘Blue On Black’ mixed by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Shania Twain, Disturbed).

Titans in each of their respective genres, the artists came together to merge country and mainstream rock to re-create the classic song originally co-written by Shepherd. Taking Country Rock to the next level, ‘Blue On Black’ is out today worldwide via Prospect Park (North America) and Eleven Seven Music (ex. North America).

The artists are donating all proceeds from the collaboration to the GARY SINISE FOUNDATION which honors America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.

Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory states, “To raise awareness for and support first responders is a cause that’s always been close to our hearts. These brave men and women leave their homes every morning not knowing if they’ll ever see their families again. Yet they make a conscious choice to do so for the greater good. What better way to make a difference than to join forces with some of our friends in country, blues and classic rock who happen to be some of the biggest names in those genres and together celebrate these heroes.“

“’Blue on Black’ is a song my band and I have covered off and on for years… songs are certified timeless when you can come back to them,” says Brantley Gilbert. “It’s always a staple each night and one of my favorite songs to perform.  When the opportunity came up to sing on Five Finger’s version, with both Kenny Wayne and Brian May of Queen, I jumped at the chance… Who wouldn’t?! It incorporates so many different musical perspectives, but our collaboration just works brilliantly.”

Blues rock legend Kenny Wayne Shepherd adds: “When Five Finger Death Punch approached me about teaming up with them to do a special version of ‘Blue On Black’, I was thrilled to do it.  When they told me Brantley Gilbert and Brian May were also going to be part of it, I was honored. This is a powerful collaboration of rock, country and blues artists and a true testament to the commonalities these musical styles share and I think the fans will appreciate and enjoy it as much as we do.”

Brian May of Queen loved the song ‘Blue On Black’ and set up a special recording session and video shoot to be featured on it all in between his work as a producer and executive music producer with Roger Taylor of the Queen biography film Bohemian Rhapsody. Brian and Roger are responsible for one of the highest grossing films of all time ($900,000,000+) across the world and the winner of Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards. Brian May will perform with Queen + Adam Lambert throughout 2019 and 2020.

Additionally, Five Finger Death Punch’s original cover version of ‘Blue On Black’ has already generated over 50 million on-demand streams in the US, and is one of the most-consumed songs on the band’s current album (averaging over 1 million US streams per week). The song features distorted guitars, pummeling percussion and a swaggering chant that marks a surprising outlier on Five Finger Death Punch’s current and seventh studio album, And Justice For None. In the US alone, Five Finger Death Punch have sold 4.5 million albums, 10 million digital songs and over 3 billion streams total.

“Bohemian Rhapsody,” the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, has amassed a worldwide box office total of over $734.4 million to date. In addition to its Golden Globe wins, the film has received SAG nominations for Outstanding Male Actor (Rami Malek) and Outstanding Cast; PGA nomination for Outstanding Producer (Graham King); and Broadcast Film Critics Association nominations for Best Actor (Malek), Best Costume Design and Best Hairstyling and Makeup.

SYNOPSIS: BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is a celebration of rock band Queen and its incendiary lead singer Freddie Mercury (played by Rami Malek, in a tour-de-force performance). With an original screenplay by Anthony McCarten (The Darkest Hour, The Theory of Everything), and story by McCarten and Peter Morgan (The Queen, The Crown), the film traces the rise of the group and its frontman, who so brazenly defied stereotypes and shattered convention. Though Queen reached staggering global success through their iconic songs (including We Are The Champions, Somebody to Love, Don’t Stop Me Now and We Will Rock You) and their revolutionary sound and style, it was not without its obstacles.  Mercury – amidst personal struggles – famously chose to abandon the group in pursuit of a solo career. His eventual reunion with the band at Live Aid 1985 went on to be considered one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music, though this time in Mercury’s life also was marked by his tragic battle with AIDS.

Lucky Brand Launches Queen Capsule Collection in Celebration of Twentieth Century Fox Film’s new movie, Bohemian Rhapsody

Lucky Brand announces their collaboration with Twentieth Century Fox Film and Bravado with a collection of seven vintage-inspired men’s and women’s Queen concert tees to celebrate the release of the new film, Bohemian Rhapsody, in theaters November 2nd.

The capsule, which launches on October 4th, will include four different Queen graphics for women on t-shirts including one long sleeve, crewneck sweatshirt. Men’s options will feature an additional three Queen graphics, one featuring Queen frontman and basis of the film, Freddie Mercury. Ranging from $39.50 to $79.50, the collection will be carried at select department stores including Macy’s, Dillard’s, Lord & Taylor and others, including specialty boutiques and online retailers such as Amazon and Zappos. The capsule will also be available at 156 Lucky Brand retail stores in the U.S. and Canada, as well as LuckyBrand.com.

In support of the movie release, Lucky Brand is partnering with Bohemian Rhapsody and Queen on store window takeovers across 135 retail doors.  In six top door locations, Lucky Brand windows will display iconic costume replicas as seen in the film. The costumes will be featured in an online silent auction, with all proceeds going to our charity partner Communities in Schools.  In addition to the store presence, Lucky Brand will host an ultimate “We Will Rock You” Las Vegas trip sweepstakes, and feature exclusive archival Queen content as well as behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the movie.

NEW MUSIC: PENTATONIX | PTX, Vol. IV – Classics

You guys!!!! We have been blessed with another EP from our favorite a capella group!

Pentatonix released their new EP, PTX Vol. IV – Classics, today April 7 and – no surprise – it’s incredible! We got to see their music video for ‘Imagine’ (posted below) a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. Their vocals were great and the message in the video was powerful. One of my favorite things about this group, besides their vocal talent, is the fact that their videos are so low budget but are better than most big budget videos. They showcase their talent rather than distracting us with nonsense lol.
