It’s been a while since I’d heard anything regarding Crimson Peak, so when I had the opportunity to watch and review it, I was pretty excited! Admittedly, it’s not my favorite film of all time, but I did actually enjoy it. The trailer is rather misleading, as it jumbles up the timeline a bit, but it was intriguing nonetheless. Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Jane Eyre) is wonderful as Edith Cushing, an aspiring writer of a ghost story and a loving daughter of her widowed father. Twice in her life, Edith is visited by her mother’s spirit, who warns her of a place called Crimson Peak. The words don’t hold much meaning until she meets Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston) and his sister, Lucille (Chastain). While I enjoyed the film and the mystery of it all, I wish the fact that Thomas and Lucille had a secret agenda wasn’t as obvious from the very beginning. It was missing the shock factor for me. Also, who the heck would live in an ancient home with red clay seeping through the walls and floor boards?? Calling the estate Crimson Peak because of the clay turning the fallen snow red was enough for me. Despite that, I still thought the storyline was interesting, and the actors were all fantastic! I would definitely recommend checking it out.

In-theaters March 4, 2016!
Directed By: Glenn Ficarra & John Requa
Starring: Tina Fey, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina and Billy Bob Thornton
Synopsis: SNL alumnus Tina Fey steps into the well-worn shoes of journalist Kim Barker in Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of Barker’s memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which details her time as a reporter in the two countries, beginning in 2002.
It’s the moment all One Direction fans dreaded! The moment when the 23-year-old would drop his first solo single since leaving One Direction mid-tour in March 2015.
Now, as a woman in her 30’s, I’ve had my share of boy band heartbreaks! Nsync broke up. Need I say more? Ok, maybe I can. NKOTB split up for years (and got back together so maybe there’s hope for a reunion when they’re in their 40’s Directioners!), Backstreet Boys lost Kevin for a while (and got him back), etc. It happens, and it stinks, but we saw this happen with Justin Timberlake, didn’t we? He needed something more than the cookie cutter boy band image, so he went off on his own and he’s done amazingly well! Don’t get me wrong…I’m still holding out hope for a reunion though…
With Zayn’s debut single, it’s definitely edgier than we’re used to seeing from him. WAY EDGIER! I actually really like it…with the exception of knowing that my 11-year-old niece will end up watching it and have a million questions (like why it’s called “Pillowtalk” in the first place lol). The video was released on January 29, just 2 days after band released their nostalgic video for “History.” Coincidence? Quite possibly.
In any case, check out One Direction’s newest video and then check out Zayn’s debut as a solo artist. Let me know what you think! Tweet me @kristin0409!
When MARCO POLO first arrived on Netflix – I was like, “What the hell…I’ll try it.” YOOOOOO!!! I’m so glad I did. This Netflix Original Series is pretty sweet!
I literally watched episode after episode…slept…watch more and finished it! (lol) I even got my boy DJ Wicked hooked on the series. You can say we’ve been patiently waiting for season 2 to arrive. (lol)
People…if you like watching GUUUUUUUUUUD stuff, martial arts and…HOT gals who can whoop ass…watch this series! It’s dope.
If you get your hands on a blu-ray copy like I did. Seriously watch the special features. Good stuff people…especially The Martial Arts of Marco Polo and Fight Scenes Rehearsals. Oh…the gag real is funny as well – – the show is so serious – it was funny to see the cast having fun.
