Jessica Cameron, @Thisfunktional Walkthrough #FOXHorrorRewind

The free experience will allow Los Angeles natives to step into worlds of horror classics old and new including “THE FLY,” “THE HILLS HAVE EYES,” “28 DAYS LATER” and “CARRIE”

Written by Jesus Figueroa (@Thisfunktional)

Actress, director, producer and Scream Queen Jessica Cameron and Jesus Figueroa, @Thisfunktional of Thisfunktional.com, walk through pop-up haunt FOX’s “Horror Rewind,” open Oct. 13 to 15 in Downtown Los Angeles.

The video walkthrough just shows a look into the experience which attendees get to be a part of.

The scare actors are fantastic, from the “Tour Guide,” played by Jillian Clare, to several monsters and Carrie, the experience feels like a seamless mesh of some iconic horror movies.

The free pop-up event, inspired by the 19 re-releases of horror classics on Blu-ray and DVD from the Fox Home Entertainment catalog with brand new packaging designed by digital artist Orlando Arocena, available now, which is in the Art District of downtown Los Angeles is a fun and thrilling roughly 10-minute immersive experience.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment brings some their most terrifying horror films to life when “HORROR REWIND” arrives in Downtown Los Angeles the weekend of Friday the 13th.

Taking place over the course of three nights, this immersive experience is produced by The Great Company in collaboration with the creators of premiere interactive horror theater Delusion.

In a secluded corner of the Arts District of Los Angeles, a deranged horror movie super fan, has created a living, breathing installation in homage to his four favorite films (THE FLY, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, 28 DAYS LATER and CARRIE).

In tribute to these films, he has trapped innocent civilians inside and transformed them into demented and deformed monsters, forced to live-out his most terrifying celluloid nightmares.

For those who make it out alive, forget what your mother told you and stop by the ominous van parked outside.

There you’ll be able to feed your own macabre obsessions and purchase any of 19 brand new Blu-rays featuring collectible packaging cover designs by acclaimed digital artist Orlando Arocena.  Limited edition posters of Arocena’s work will also be available as a gift with purchase while supplies last.

Fans can also purchase the full line-up of the Halloween faceplates from Arocena here: bit.ly/FoxHalloweenWM.

Admission is free but ticketing is EXTREMELY limited and on a FIRST-COME-FIRST SERVE BASIS, Oct. 13 to 15 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Guests must register in advance at HORRORREWIND.EVENTBRITE.COM to receive an appointment day and time.

A limited number of standby tickets will also be available via the above website.

Be sure to use #FOXHorrorRewind to share your experience.

Part of the fun is enjoying it with people who enjoy the fear, such as Jessica Cameron who joined for the scary fun.

Cameron and the rest of the group were thrilled at the opportunity to jump in and the not only walkthrough but actively be part of the story room after room.

#ThrowbackThursday | Week 1 | 112 – “Cupid” [video]

IMG_0536

Today is dedicated to our beloved throwbacks. 90% of the time I’m thinking about music, so here ya go lol.

As always, I’m open to suggestions!

Here is this today’s throwback video:

https://youtu.be/nqsdxvf39TM

Fun Fact: I was in 8th grade when this song came out. In my Chorus class (yes, I was always a Chorus nerd) we had designated days where we had to “teach” the class. We had to print out enough copies of the lyrics to a song for each student and then “teach” them to sing that particular song. This was my song of choice lol.

#MovieWednesday: Week 1 | Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Princess Diaries and Justice League

IMG_0554

Hey hey hey!! Happy Hump Day!

Today is dedicated to movies, movies and more movies. So, grab your popcorn and prepare for trailers, release dates, casting news, etc. I’m hoping to have some podcasts posted here as well, so if I can wrangle in some of my cohorts, those will be included on certain Wednesdays too.

I can’t complete my first #MovieWednesday without mentioning the new Star Wars trailer! Ho. Ly. Crap. Balls. The anticipation for this one is REAL! If you’re one of like five people who hasn’t seen it yet, you can watch it below:

Ahhhhhh!!! Were you as impressed and worried as I was?? I work with two Star Wars fanatics who are uber excited about the idea that Rey might turn to the dark side alongside Kylo Ren, but I refuse to accept this. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that perhaps she’s teaming up with Luke Skywalker and pretending to side with Kylo Ren in order to retaliate for (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!) killing Hans Solo. Think I’m reaching? You’re not the only one haha. Let me know what YOU thought!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released in theaters December 15, 2017 and tickets are available now!

PB1208[1]This is a rather random choice for #MovieWednesday, but who cares? It’s a movie! I’ve heard so many people talking about the 1987 film The Princess Bride, but I, personally, have never seen it. I decided to change that and I recorded it on my DVR last week. I finally sat down to watch it and realized that it wasn’t necessarily what I expected. It was odd, it was far-fetched, it was cute, it was romantic, it was funny and I liked it! Have you seen it before? Want me to shut up about it now? … As you wish …

One movie that I’m really excited about is Justice League! I don’t even think I need to give an explanation as to why! lol. I’m excited to see Jason Momoa embrace the role of Aquaman, and I’m stoked to see a female superhero (Wonder Woman) holding her own amongst some of the best male superheroes. I’m still a bit salty that Grant Gustin didn’t get to play The Flash in the film since he plays him so well on The CW, but I digress. Check out the newest trailer and let me know your feelings. Who are you most excited to see?

Here are the newest movie posters for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Justice League:

#TVTuesday: Week 1 | This Is Us, Shadowhunters, Fear the Walking Dead/The Walking Dead & DWTS

IMG_0538

Hey, everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Today is all about TV here on According to Kristin. What I’m watching, what I’ve been wanting to watch, what others are watching that I haven’t gotten into, etc.  As always, I’m open to any suggestions for shows you want me to check out. Even if you just want to rant or rave about a recent episode of a show…tweet me all about it @thisiskristin_!

I admit…I watch a lot of TV. I started doing podcast reviews with some of my friends, which has kept me in front of the TV instead of in the gym lol. BUT, I plan on watching the shows while I’m at least running on the treadmill every night. 😜

IMG_0606

One of my absolute favorites at the moment is This Is Us. Even just the trailer for the NBC show had me hooked! This is the first time in my life that I’ve witnessed a show that touches on every possible situation and curve ball that life can throw your way. And to do it with such an incredible cast is the icing on the cake. Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson and everyone else involved with this show deserve all the praise in the world. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but if you haven’t seen an episode of this show, you should definitely change that asap.

IMG_0608 IMG_0607

A show I recently binge-watched was Shadowhunters, which can be found on Freeform (formerly ABC Family). A friend from work recommended it to me, so I binged it on Hulu and loved it. The acting is suspect at times, but the premise for the show is interesting. I saw the Mortal Instruments film a few years ago and this is based on the same concept and the same novel by Cassandra Clare. The show stars Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Harry Shum, Jr., Alberto Rosende and Isaiah Mustafa (the Old Spice guy!!). The special effects are pretty decent and the soundtrack is amazing. I’ll be talking about the artist, Ruelle (who sings the title track for the show and also has a few other songs that are featured), A LOT, so check her out wherever you download or stream music.

IMG_0610

Last night Danay Garcia posted a photo on her Instagram that sent Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead fans spiraling down the rabbit hole! We’ve been speculating whether or not they would merge the two shows at some point and we’ve been shot down at every conspiracy theory, BUT it is finally confirmed that this will happen!! Not sure when, why, or how, but it’s going to happen at some point and I’m excited for it!

Don’t forget to catch The Walking Dead is back on AMC October 22nd!

IMG_0609

One of my guilty pleasure shows is Dancing With the Stars. I know, I know…don’t judge me! I wasn’t really interested in this season except for seeing Jordan Fisher and Lindsey Stirling though. I spoke about Jordan Fisher yesterday for #MusicMonday, but watching him dance is a whole other ballgame. He performed a Contemporary dance last night with his partner Lindsay Arnold that was absolutely beautiful! He can literally do anything! You can watch their dance below:

https://youtu.be/HoCAvD5AWog

Lindsey Stirling is an incredible violinist, but she’s also proving herself on the dance floor. She’s used to jumping around on stage when she’s playing the violin, but she’s a self-proclaimed clumso too. It doesn’t show though! I probably would’ve been tripping over my own two feet if I attempted even five seconds of this dance lol!

Check out her Jive with Mark Ballas from last week’s episode below:

https://youtu.be/is7Hx7B5e2c

Let me know what you’re watching! Tell me about a recent episode that made you cry and reevaluate life. There are so many shows out right now, it’s hard to keep up!

See you all next week for #TVTuesday!

#MusicMonday | Sam Smith, Maroon 5, One Republic, Jordan Fisher, In Real Life & Fall Out Boy

IMG_0525

What’s up, everyone??

Welcome to #MusicMonday here at According to Kristin! I’ve been wanting to get a bit more personal on the blog, and Music is the most personal for me…so here we are! I’ll be posting here on certain Mondays, and sometimes I might add in a podcast or two. I’m hoping to have guests on and even try scheduling some interviews, so if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know! Let me know what you’re currently listening to, what albums and tours you’re excited about. You can even tag me on Twitter with a performance you think I should check out. I’m open to all suggestions!

I’ve always been a music fanatic, so I’m sure Mondays will be extra therapeutic for me now as I’ll be able to discuss all of the aspects that make up one of my first loves. Music is my escape from the world. When I’m stressed at work, the power of an ear bud is priceless. I just pop one into my ear and the calmness takes over. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it (both music, and the ear bud lol).

So, here are some of the things that have interested me in the music world this week:

Sam Smith
has (finally) announced a new album and tour, following the release of his newest single, “Too Good At Goodbyes.” The single is lit and the album and tour are sure to be just as incredible-it IS Sam Smith, after all. The album is titled “The Thrill Of It All” and will be available on November 3rd. You can pre-order the album on his web store HERE. You can also follow him on Twitter and Instagram by clicking on the respective links.

Not to be left out, Maroon 5 (@maroon5) also announced details for their new album, titled “Red Pill Blues,” set to be released on the same day, November 3rd. Here is the track listing for both the 12-Track Standard Edition and the 15-Track Deluxe Edition of their sixth studio album:

12-Track STANDARD EDITION TRACK LISTING

What Lovers Do feat. SZA

Lips On You

15-Track DELUXE EDITION TRACK LISTING

Best 4 U
What Lovers Do feat. SZA

Help Me Out with Julia Michaels
Who I Am feat. ft. LunchMoney Lewis

One song that I’m really enjoying this week is One Republic‘s “Rich Love,” and you can catch the video for that below:

If you haven’t seen One Republic (@onerepublic) live before, I strongly suggest you change that. I saw them in West Palm Beach, FL when they went on tour with The Script (who will definitely make an appearance on #MusicMonday) and it was nothing short of amazing. They’re high energy throughout the whole show and their vocals are always on point. Do it and you can thank me later!

The next two artists that I want to mention are both signed to Hollywood Records.

Jordan Fisher (@jordan_fisher) is a triple-threat who is soon to be dominating the charts with his upcoming debut album. He’s currently dancing his way to the mirror ball trophy on Dancing With the Stars, he has a new single, “Mess,” which was released last week and an album that is on its way to the shelves. Not sure if you familiar with him? He was on Broadway with the hit show Hamilton, he was on Disney’s Teen Beach Movie and he also played Doody on the live version of Grease. Check out his new single, “Mess,” wherever you download/stream music and also feel free to check out his videos on YouTube. Again…you can thank me later! I’m just wondering if dude could show me how to dance lol!

I’ve posted a few times about In Real Life (@inreallife) because they’re new to the scene and they deserve the exposure. I was exposed to them when my niece started watching ABC’s Boy Band, and my friend Jesus @thisfunktional got a chance to speak with them out in California last week at the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor event. I was excited for them when I found out that they’ll be under Johnny Wright’s wing for the duration (hopefully) of their career because he’s worked with some of the best in the industry! Their debut single, “Eyes Closed,” has done well since its release and they have a fantastic marketing team that has been putting them in some of the best places since the show ended. They’re currently playing little shows while they record new music and they just wrapped a music video for their original Christmas song that should be released soon.

fall-out-boy-mania-art-2017-billboard-embed

Last, but certainly not least…my little sis, Brancey, absolutely loves Fall Out Boy (@falloutboy), so it wouldn’t be a discussion about music without talking about their new single and their pushed back “Mania” album, set to release in January 2018.

You can hear Brancey and I rambling on the podcast below. Also, don’t mind the little section in the middle where Skype decided it hated us and cut off our recording lol. Shout out to Jesus for splicing them together for us lmao!

SPIES IN DISGUISE Starring Will Smith & Tom Holland

Fox Animation, Chernin Entertainment and Blue Sky Studios have announced the voice casting for their upcoming animated film SPIES IN DISGUISE.

SPIES IN DISGUISE is a buddy comedy set in the high octane globe-trotting world of international espionage. Will Smith (Men in Black) voices Lance Sterling, the world’s most awesome spy. Cool, charming and super-skilled, saving the world is his occupation. And nobody does it better.

Almost the exact opposite of Lance is Walter, voiced by Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming). Walter is a great mind but perhaps not a great socializer. What he lacks in social skills though, he makes up for in smarts and invention: Walter is the scientific genius who invents the gadgets Lance uses on his missions.

But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way. And if this odd couple can’t learn to work as a team, the whole world is in peril.

Directed by Nick Bruno & Troy Quane, SPIES IN DISGUISE is a Fox Animation production, with Blue Sky Studios and Chernin Entertainment. The project is based on Pigeon: Impossible, an original animated short film by Lucas Martell.

PROFESSOR MARSTON & THE WONDER WOMEN | New York Comic Con Trailer Released!

IMG_0319

PROFESSOR MARSTON & THE WONDER WOMEN debuted a new trailer this weekend at New York Comic Con! Check out the trailer below and see Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall and Bella Heathcote in theaters this Friday!

SYNOPSIS: In a superhero origin tale unlike any other, the film is the incredible true story of what inspired Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to create the iconic Wonder Woman character in the 1940’s. While Marston’s feminist superhero was criticized by censors for her ‘sexual perversity’, he was keeping a secret that could have destroyed him. Marston’s muses for the Wonder Woman character were his wife Elizabeth Marston and their lover Olive Byrne, two empowered women who defied convention: working with Marston on human behavior research — while building a hidden life with him that rivaled the greatest of superhero disguises.

Final JUSTICE LEAGUE Trailer Is Out

Written by Jesus Figueroa (@Thisfunktional)

This new trailer shows much more of the “Justice League” story, with major action from all key components of the Justice League.

Although Clark Kent makes an appearance, it seems to be in a dream sequence, is that all audiences will see of the man of steel?

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.

But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

With character posters released on Oct.3, a final trailer with each of the members battling it out will have fans looking forward to the movie, out in theaters Nov. 17.

Photos From The Premiere of MULLY

Photos From The Premiere of MULLY

Written by Jesus Figueroa

The premiere of “Mully” had many celebrities on the carpet at Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live on Oct. 3 in support of the true story of Dr. Charles Mully.

The carpet featured key cast & crew including Dr. Charles and Esther Mully, executive producers Paul and Amy Blavin, director Scott Haze, executive producer James Moll, producers Lukas Behnken and Elissa Shay, among others.

Special appearances included GRAMMY Award winning producer Rodney Jerkins, E! News host Jason Kennedy, Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr., actresses Frances Fisher and Francesca Eastwood, actress Q’orianka Kilcher (“The Alienist”), actress Scottie Thompson (“12 Monkeys”), actress Robyn Cohen (“The Menendez Brothers”) and more.

What happens when a six-year-old boy in Kenya is abandoned by his family and left to raise himself on the streets?

“MULLY” is no ordinary rags-to-riches tale.

It’s the true story of Charles Mully, whose unlikely stratospheric rise to wealth and power leaves him questioning his own existence, searching for meaning in life.

Against the better judgment of family and community, “MULLY” sets out to enrich the fate of orphaned children across Kenya.

Jeopardizing his own life and the security of his family, Charles Mully risks everything and sets in motion a series of events that is nothing short of astonishing.

IN REAL LIFE Talks with @ThisFunktional at the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor

IMG_9911

Jesus of ThisFunktional.com & According to Kristin got the chance to speak with newly formed boy band, In Real Life, at the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor event in Long Beach, CA.

After winning spots in the final band on ABC’s Boy Band, a debut single that charted soon after its release, a debut video that has surpassed the milestone of 1 million views, a contract with Hollywood Records and a manager (Johnny Wright) who has worked with some of the top artists in the industry (*NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, Backstreet Boys), In Real Life is in a great place right now and this is only the beginning.

With some long distance help from yours truly, they spoke with Jesus about getting more involved in the writing process, how much creative control they’re being given, being role models and working with Johnny Wright.

Check out the interview below:

Meet the guys:

Chance Perez, 19, of Seal Beach, CA – He’s a loving father of a beautiful 2-year-old girl, Brooklyn, and was a fan favorite on ABC’s Boy Band from the beginning. Chance almost gave up on music in order to pursue a career as a firefighter, but luckily he gave the show a chance and made the final 5.

Drew Ramos, 19, of Bronx, NY – Drew won us over during his audition when he proudly stated that he was a momma’s boy. His love for music led him to singing on the subway in NY and now he’s 1/5 of the world’s newest boy band. He’s a self-proclaimed nerd who loves Star Wars and video games, and we’re all on board!

Michael Conor, 18, of Cleveland, OH – Michael gave fans something different throughout his time on the show. Not only is he a creative genius who can rap & freestyle his way out of anything, he’s also a violinist and a loving big brother. At times Michael had to work harder than most in order to embrace the singing part of the show, but he succeeded and made his way to the final band.

Sergio Calderon, Jr., 16, of Redwood City, CA – Sergio also brought something different to the show by adding Spanish verses to the songs. He gave up his dream of playing professional soccer in order to pursue a career in music. Now he’s part of In Real Life, singing and making everyone laugh one day at a time.

Brady Tutton, 15, Shorewood, WI – Brady was one of the youngest on the show, but proved his talent when he sang in Italian during his audition and consistently wowed the judges each week. As a classically trained singer, an actor, and an all-around lovable guy, Brady gets to showcase his talent with his unofficial big brothers.

Also, check out this adorable shout out Jesus managed to get for my niece and me since we weren’t able to be there:

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES Stunt Coordinator Tommy Harper Made Large, Safe Stunts

Written by Jesus Figueroa

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” had scenes that were bigger and more elaborate than any other movie in the franchise.

Veteran stunt coordinator Tommy Harper worked to create stunts which fit the newest story in the pirates franchise and were still adequate and safe for the cast.

Harper said, each stunt needed to be big, because the franchise merits it, but safety is always the first concern.

The action in “Dead Men Tell No Tales” moves across large terrain and multiple characters are involved, which is sure to make for larger than life scenes.

From a returning cast to new members to the franchise, there were skill levels that varied as well as stables he’d characters that needed to continue on in a way which matched previous movies.

Harper said, he has worked with Johnny Depp before, and with Depp knowing his character well after all the previous movies, the collaborative process was fun and they were able to push the limits of his character.

From fights scenes in a moving structure to parting the sea and having a battle in space that’s changing, the challenges to bring everything together takes skills in many aspects.

The world of “Pirates of the Caribbean” takes the characters on adventures from land to boats, from towns to the beach and each location requires different skill sets.

Having different skill sets is essential. Being a master of one thing can be great, but training in many different things and having multiple skills helps to the adapting atmosphere which can come up in projects such as “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” Harper said.

With a wonderful cast which includes Depp, Javier Bardem and Kaya Scodelario, the talent Harper had to work with was spectacular.

Harper had worked on several huge projects before and was thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” and help make the story as exciting as it could possibly get.

A great story helps make the grand stunts memorable and Harper brilliantly helped make beautiful stunts for some marvelous actors.
