Coming Soon to Netflix: ALEXA & KATIE | Premieres March 23

AlexaKatie_Vert_B2B_US[1]Coming Soon to Netflix is a new original series, Alexa & Katie. Season 1 contains 13 episodes that will premiere on March 23, 2018.

Alexa & Katie is a funny and heartwarming show about two best friends eagerly anticipating the start of their freshman year of high school. Despite the fact that Alexa (Paris Berelc – Mighty Med, Lab Rats: Elite Force) is undergoing cancer treatment, her outgoing personality and enthusiasm for life never falter, especially with her loyal, quirky, and awkwardly adorable best friend Katie (newcomer Isabel May) by her side. At times they’re left feeling like outsiders, during a period when what seems to matter most is fitting in. Tiffani Thiessen (White Collar, Saved By The Bell) also stars as Lori, Alexa’s determined and protective mother.

Created by Heather Wordham (Hannah Montana, Reba) with comedy veteran Matthew Carlson (Malcolm In The Middle, Samantha Who?) serving as showrunner, the show’s star is Alexa and Katie’s friendship; whether it be at school, at home, or in the hospital, they are by each other’s side through thick and thin, serving as role models for modern-day female friendships.

The Return of Marvel’s Jessica Jones

The first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones launched on Netflix in November 2015 to enthusiastic support from audiences and critically acclaim, ultimately taking home a prestigious Peabody Award recognizing the show’s achievement in television entertainment.

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb remembers, “We knew that we had something very special, not just in the writing from Melissa Rosenberg, but also in the performance by Krysten Ritter. We had hoped that it was a story that was going to resonate first with the Marvel audience, but secondly with a much larger audience. We were delighted to see how many people responded to the material and responded to it in a way that in some ways exceeded their expectations of the genre. Certainly the subject matter and the timing are something that you can never really have any control over, but it was the right show at the right time. One of the reasons that we’re so excited about season two is that it delves deeper into issues that make a difference to our audience and really connect to women in particular. That’s very important to Marvel and to Jessica Jones.”

THE RIVERAS RETURNED MARCH 11 FOR THE MOST HONEST AND REVEALING SEASON YET

Love, secrets, unexpected break ups, brave revelations and challenges are everything that you will see in this upcoming season of The Riveras on UNIVERSO. The third and most revealing season yet offers viewers a deeper look into the lives of Chiquis, Jacqie, Mike, Johnny and Jenicka.

The family’s relatability has been key to the show’s success – it is raw, honest, funny at times and depicts the challenges that families go through.

“I think what makes our show unique is that we’re the only English language reality television show about a Hispanic family.” Johnny, the youngest Rivera goes on to say “we’re five siblings that all connect in different ways and I think our audience likes to see that. We don’t always agree on everything or get a long all the time, but at the end of the day we are a family and we stick by each other’s side no matter what.”

The 14-episode season offers viewers a lens into their lives as they face life challenges while supporting each other.  Chiquis unveils her relationship with Lorenzo and struggles with commitment issues while continuing to build her empire and the family legacy through her music career. Chiquis releases her new single “Quisieran tener mi lugar,” a duet with her mother. When asked about who she dedicates this song to, Chiquis said “My mom used to receive so much criticism for everything and anything she did. There were a few ladies especially that loved to criticize her and me as well. I’d like to dedicate that song to them.” Her second studio album, “Entre Botellas” was released on March 16th.

Mike takes a shot at stand-up comedy, while continuing to parent his autistic daughter Luna. “As a father of a young daughter with autism, I have learned that patience is the key to being a good parent.” He adds, “the child will always come first, and I think it is important for parents to know, especially if they are separated, that you have to put your differences aside and be selfless for your child.” Jenicka also has a few changes up her sleeve and surprises Mike with the news that she will be moving back in with Chiquis and embarks on a journey to pursue a career in plus-size modeling. Having recently come out via social media, Johnny introduces his partner Joaquin to his family and friends and graduates high school. While on a pursuit for happiness, Jacquie’s recent weight loss gives her a new sense of courage to begin a career in singing and be the best mom she can be to her three children.

Tune in to UNIVERSO on Sundays at 10pm/9c to watch the most revealing, honest and raw season of this perfectly imperfect family.
