Fast-rising London collective SUN SILVA have released their brand new single ‘Sun Skin Air’.
The single premiered with DIY who said, “On newie ‘Sun Skin Air’, London quartet SUN SILVA manage to crib together classic driving melodies, woozy psych and a tendency for the unexpected – to create an intoxicating whole. There’s propulsive drums, sparkling keys and tangents that keep you on your toes, all of which add up to a track that feels remarkably assured for a band still relatively in their infancy.”
The new song is a high-octane cut that combines propulsive beats with Temples-esque harmony-laden psychedelic flourishes.
Regarding the single frontman Oscar Gormley says, “We wrote ‘Sun Skin Air’ in a horrible hostel with no fan during a visit to Spain. It’s a hard hitter, kind of Krauty and a bit gritty – probably due to the frustration of being in that room. This song is much weirder than ‘Blue Light’, which is the way we wanted to go with this one.”
SUN SILVA burst onto the scene last year with their debut single ‘Blue Light’ and have been quick to prove themselves one of the most exciting and in-demand bands to emerge from London.
The widescreen horn-led pop of ‘Blue Light’ saw the band championed by indie tastemakers including the likes of DIY, Dork and Clash, alongside strong radio support from Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.
Radio 1 Indie Show host Jack Saunders has become such a fan of the band that he took SUN SILVA out on their first tour of the UK in association with the Radio 1 Indie Show.
SUN SILVA continued to put their firm stamp on the UK live scene last year. They sold out their own London headline show at The Lexington, which they followed with high profile support slots for the likes of Jungle and Swimming Girls. The band also played their first festival at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival.
SUN SILVA have already been announced for further festivals this year and will play Live At Leeds and Hit The North in May. The band have also been announced to support Luna Bay at London’s OMEARA on March 11th. The shows mark the first of a number of exciting live announcements from SUN SILVA to follow shortly.
