BRIDGERTON | Watch the Official Trailer! | #Bridgerton

Netflix and Shondaland released the official trailer and new images for Bridgerton Season 2.  The new photos take a look at a fan favorite Pall Mall game from the book which appears this season on screen. Bridgerton returns for a second season on March 25, 2022. In keeping with the tradition of the novels, season two tells the romance story of Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love. Bridgerton comes to Netflix from Shondaland and is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen. Van Dusen also serves as creator and showrunner.

About BRIDGERTON Season 2:

From Shondaland and Creator Chris Van Dusen, the second season of Bridgertonfollows Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton sibling and Viscount, as he sets out to find a suitable wife. Driven by his duty to uphold the family name, Anthony’s search for a debutante who meets his impossible standards seems ill-fated until Kate (Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran) Sharma arrive from India. When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — a true love match is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides. Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.

Check it out! | MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU | Trailer

img_4101This summer, from the biggest animated franchise in history and global cultural phenomenon, comes the untold story of one 12-year-old’s dream to become the world’s greatest supervillain, in Minions: The Rise of Gru.

In the heart of the 1970s, amid a flurry of feathered hair and flared jeans, Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. Luckily, he gets some mayhem-making backup from his loyal followers, the Minions. Together, Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto—a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please—deploy their skills as they and Gru build their first lair, experiment with their first weapons and pull off their first missions.

When the Vicious 6 oust their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles (Oscar® winner Alan Arkin), Gru interviews to become their newest member. It doesn’t go well (to say the least), and only gets worse after Gru outsmarts them and suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. On the run, Gru will turn to an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles himself, and discover that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.

Teeming with Illumination’s signature subversive humor, pop-culture sophistication, full-hearted emotion, bold music sensibility, and over-the-top action, Minions: The Rise of Gru features a thrilling new cast of stars, including, as members of the Vicious 6, Taraji P. Henson as cool and confident leader Belle Bottom, Jean-Claude Van Damme as Jean Clawed, Lucy Lawless as Nunchuck, Dolph Lundgren as Svengeance and Danny Trejo as Stronghold. The film also features Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario, an aspiring mad scientist, Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow, an acupuncturist with mad Kung Fu skills, and Oscar® winner Julie Andrews as Gru’s maddeningly self-absorbed mom.

Steered by the franchise’s original creators, Minions: The Rise of Gru is produced by visionary Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborators Janet Healy and Chris Renaud. The film is directed by returning franchise filmmaker Kyle Balda (Despicable Me 3, Minions), co-directed by Brad Ableson (The Simpsons) and Jonathan del Val (The Secret Life of Pets films), and features the iconic voice of Pierre Coffin as the Minions and a killer ʼ70s soundtrack courtesy of legendary Grammy-winning music producer Jack Antonoff.

Movie Review by Kristin: Disney’s Live Action ALADDIN

aladdin_4c_payoff_one_sheet_27x40_cmyk

Hello there, movie lovers!

In light of the newly released Live Action and Signature Collection versions of Disney’s ALADDIN on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray this week, I wanted to repost my review of the Live Action version! I was lucky enough to catch a screening of it here in Miami and, I have to say, it was much better than I expected!

Let me preface my review by saying that I’ve always loved Aladdin. The original movie was one of my favorites & I loooooooved the game on Sega. Collecting apples, leaping onto wooden stairs and hopping from stone to stone to avoid lava in the Cave of Wonders. This movie has all of that, which brings back a strong sense of nostalgia. Who doesn’t love that??

With that being said, let me get to the cast. There were some strong feelings going around when the cast was announced. Not necessarily from myself, but the only actor involved that I really knew of was Will Smith, who was cast as Genie. Mena Massoud (Aladdin) and Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine) were unknown to me, but now I can’t wait to see what they do next! The three of them carried the film, along with some scene stealers by Abu, Aladdin’s infamous pet monkey. The chemistry between Massoud’s Aladdin and Scott’s Princess Jasmine was evident from the beginning. Some of the iconic scenes from the original were recreated here, further enhancing that nostalgia!

Personally, I loved the cast. The only one I thought could have been a bit stronger was the role of Jafar. The actor in this movie has a soft voice that doesn’t seem to carry much power when he’s on screen. This isn’t to take away from his work as an actor, I just don’t know that he was entirely right for this particular role. Jafar always had this menacing presence in the original, and I just didn’t necessarily feel that here.

I loooooved the singing and dancing! They changed things up some, allowing Smith to sort of modernize the role of Genie a bit. Some of his songs have more of a little rap vibe as opposed to regular singing & it worked! My only “complaint,” if you can call it that, was that in some of the dance numbers, it seemed like the timing was sped up a little. It looked like it was in fast mode when I think it would’ve been nicer to see it in real time.

One thing I want to mention again is the modernization in this one in comparison to the original. Aside from Genie’s contribution, we also see a stronger female presence when it comes to Princess Jasmine’s role. This version includes a new song, “Speechless,” that touches on how she’s supposed to be seen and not heard, but she refuses to remain speechless. It’s an important message, especially for little girls, that I’m glad they included & Naomi Scott performs the song beautifully.

Admittedly, I had another idea for who should have played Aladdin, and, as I mentioned before, I had no idea who Mena Massoud was. After watching this, my mind has been changed & I think Massoud played the role of Aladdin way better than I expected! He was charming and really seemed to embody the character we all know and love.

I definitely recommend checking this out when you can! It’s fun, it’s entertaining and it brings back a little piece of our childhood we didn’t know we needed!

JONAS BROTHERS | New Album HAPPINESS BEGINS Is Here & It’s Amazing!

img_9479

Ok, Jonas Brothers!! I see you!

Today marks the release of their new album, Happiness Begins, after 10 years! It’s been an extremely long 10 years for Jonas Brothers fans . . . believe me, as an *NSYNC fan, I know how uneasy it feels when your favorite band splits up. Especially when they’re brothers! Luckily, the guys worked through their issues and got together for one hell of an album!

When it was announced that the guys would be getting the band back together again, fans were hit with an onslaught of all things Jonas – a new single, a new album, a new tour, a documentary, a book, and who knows what’s next! There’s been no shortage of content, that’s for sure.

The documentary, Chasing Happiness, is available on Amazon Prime Video and gives an in-depth look at the guys growing up in the Jonas household, beginning their careers at a young age, navigating their way through life and work and family. Somewhere along the way, the guys seemed to lose the fun aspect of making music and performing, which eventually led to their split. They allow fans to get a glimpse into what happened and how they decided to work through things together as brothers. I highly recommend watching it.

img_9478

With the release of the new album, we get to see a whole new Jonas Brothers. You can almost hear the fun in every song. It’s a more adult vibe than the old school albums, for sure. It’s funky, it’s mature, it’s a MOOD.  There’s literally something for everyone on this album, and a huge congrats goes out to the guys for coming back together while still holding onto their own individual styles in the process.

Personally, Jonas Brothers hold a special place in my heart. They were the first concert I ever took my niece to in 2009. She was 5 years old and it was amazing. My friend’s kids had fallen asleep towards the end of the show, so she took them out to the car, but my niece refused to leave until the show was over. It made me so proud! Since then, she’s been my concert buddy and now she’s 15 dragging me to shows I normally wouldn’t go to. They set the bar for live shows for her 10 years ago and now we’ll be seeing them EXACTLY 10 years later at their show here in Miami this August. My only wish is that I could afford VIP tickets for her to meet them lol.

Either way, make sure to grab the album, score tix to their upcoming Happiness Begins Tour (which is a bit pricey, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it), watch the documentary and keep your eyes open for their upcoming book! The guys are on a roll and it doesn’t look like there’s an end in sight. (Side Note: Someone please get them to convince *NSYNC to make a similar comeback! They’re living proof that maturing their sound and putting out music they want to make can work despite being a huge success to younger crowds back in the day!)

Check It Out: Ozuna’s New Video for THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2!

The_Secret_Life_of_Pets_2[1]

This Friday, the world’s biggest animated pet franchise is back with the release of “The Secret Life of Pets 2” and to celebrate, Universal Pictures and Illumination have partnered with international superstar, Ozuna to create a special remix of LunchMoney Lewis’ “It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day” from the movie’s motion picture soundtrack. This song was released this morning via this fun lyric video which features videos of pets (and humans) from around the world doing their favorite Zumba moves.

Just like pets, Ozuna’s music makes people around the world smile! He took the song, “It’s Gonna be a Lovely Day” by LunchMoney Lewis, and brought his own unique  flavors to the remix.

Terrier Max (Patton Oswalt) is coping with some major life changes. His owner (Ellie Kemper) is now married and has a toddler, Liam. Max is so worried about protecting the boy that he develops a nervous tic. On a family trip to a farm, Max and mutt Duke (Eric Stonestreet) encounter canine-intolerant cows, hostile foxes and a terrifying turkey, all of which only elevates Max’s anxiety. Luckily, Max gets some guidance from veteran farm dog Rooster (Harrison Ford, making his animated-film debut), who pushes Max to ditch his neuroses, find his inner alpha, and give Liam a little more freedom.

Meanwhile, while her owner is away, plucky Pomeranian Gidget (Jenny Slate) tries to rescue Max’s favorite toy from a cat-packed apartment with a little help from her feline friend, Chloe (Lake Bell), who has discovered the joys of catnip.

And crazy-but-cute bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart) gets delusions of grandeur that he’s an actual superhero after his owner Molly starts dressing him in superhero pajamas. But when Daisy (Tiffany Haddish), a fearless Shih Tzu, shows up to ask for Snowball’s help on a dangerous mission, he’ll have to summon the courage to become the hero he’s only been pretending to be.

Can Max, Snowball, Gidget and the rest of the gang find the inner courage to face their biggest fears?

The Secret Life of Pets 2 is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy, the visionary team behind Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch and the Despicable Me and Minionsfranchise, and is written by returning Pets screenwriter Brian Lynch. The film is directed by returning filmmaker Chris Renaud, who also directed Illumination’s Despicable Me series and Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.

Genre: Comedy
Cast: Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Dana Carvey, Harrison Ford, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Pete Holmes, Garth Jennings, Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, Bobby Moynihan, Patton Oswald, Jenny Slate, Eric Stonestreet

TV Review: Season 1 of NBC’S ‘THE VILLAGE’

img_9278

Ok, people. I just have to say that NBC is killing it right now with their line-up! THIS IS US is one of the best drama shows I’ve ever seen, and THE VILLAGE is right on its heels (only because there’s only one season so far)! On the surface, it’s east to compare the two against each other, but the storylines go deeper than just superficial (metaphorical) wounds. After watching the first season of THE VILLAGE, I can easily say that it stands on its own two feet. I’m just hoping that it gets renewed for another season!

THE VILLAGE focuses on several groups of people living in a condo building in Brooklyn. Each little group in the building has their own storyline, but, individually, they’re all intertwined with each other in some way or another.

You have Sarah, a nurse who lives with her teenage daughter, Katie. Katie discovers she’s pregnant and is contemplating the idea of adoption. Based on what Sarah has told her, she’s lived her life believing that her father, a firefighter during 9/11, was killed in action. She has no idea that their new neighbor, Nick, is actually her father. Throughout the season, Sarah and Nick try to navigate through their own past and how to tell Katie the truth. Nick is also a veteran who is trying to find his way through his post-war PTSD.

Ava is an Iranian refugee who faces deportation and separation from her young son. You get to see how bonded the residents of The Village truly are when they all rally around her during this time. Ava has fallen for another resident, Ben, who is a police officer in NYC. It is revealed that, while Ben is willing to marry Ava to keep her in the U.S., he is still married to the mother of his deceased son.

Ron is the super of The Village building and an owner of a bar called Smalls. He’s married to Patricia, a social worker who is dealing with a relapsed cancer diagnosis. They are the “parents” to everyone in the building and often put their own struggles aside to help everyone else.

Gabe is a law student trying to stay out of the shadow of his power-hungry father. His grandfather, Enzo, lives in a nursing home, but comes to live with Gabe in The Village. Enzo is still mourning his late wife until he meets a new woman he quickly falls in love with. Gabe and Enzo have the most adorable relationship with each other throughout the entire season.

the-village-nbc[1]

With all of their individual storylines, they all seem to come together to support each other through all of their struggles. Truth be told, I’m a sucker for those moments. When someone is struggling with something and they have a group of people that are willing to drop everything to be there for them. I literally just cried my way through the entire season 1 finale, and I highly recommend that you check this show out if you haven’t already. The writing is fantastic, the cast is extremely diverse (with not one weak link) and it’s just so easy to connect with. Shout out to Grace Van Dien, who plays Katie, for a stellar performance throughout the season. Everyone was great, but Van Dien literally killed it every single time!

One of my favorite lines from the finale was when Gabe encourages Enzo to propose to his new love, Gwendolina. Enzo struggles with the idea of proposing with the ring that belonged to his late wife, but Gabe insists and says, “I think she’d want this ring on any hand that’s holding yours.” Seriously?!?!?! How could you not watch a show that delivers lines like that one?? Do yourself a favor and check this out. You can also join me in crossing my fingers that this gets renewed!

Movie Review by Kristin: ALADDIN

aladdin_4c_payoff_one_sheet_27x40_cmykGood morning, movie lovers! Happy Hump Day!

Last night I was able to catch a screening of Disney’s live-action ALADDIN here in Miami and, I have to say, it was much better than I expected!

Leading up to this Friday’s release, I feel like the movie hasn’t had a lot of promotion. Everywhere I look there are promos for this Summer’s release of The Lion King, but barely anything for ALADDIN. I’m hoping that word of mouth will do the movie some good!

Let me preface my review by saying that I’ve always loved Aladdin. The original movie was one of my favorites & I loooooooved the game on Sega.
