IMAGINE DRAGONS WRITE AND RECORD END-CREDIT SONG “ZERO” FOR “RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET”

“Zero” Available Today from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records

Imagine Dragons, the GRAMMY®-winning band behind recent hits “Natural” and “Whatever It Takes,” wrote and recorded the end-credit song “Zero” for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Ralph Breaks the Internet.” The song, which will be featured on the upcoming Walt Disney Records soundtrack album, is available today from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records. Listen HERE. It was just featured as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1. The “Zero” lyric video also debuts today—check it out HERE. Directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, “Ralph Breaks the Internet” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 21, 2018.

In the movie, video-game bad guy Ralph struggles with his evolving friendship with fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. According to Imagine Dragons’ lead singer Dan Reynolds, the film’s emotional themes are reflected in the song “Zero.” “It’s a pretty timely movie in a lot of ways in that it addresses some of the issues of identity and loneliness unique to this internet generation,” says Reynolds. “Ralph’s internal struggle for self-acceptance really resonated with us, and this song speaks to that.”

Adds Moore, “It’s a bold choice for an end-credit song because it’s about someone who feels like a zero, someone who hasn’t always felt worthy, someone who’s allowed his entire sense of self to rely on a single friendship. When that friendship is threatened, there’s a lot of insecurity.”

“We can all relate to that feeling,” adds Johnston. “But the song tells us we’re not alone. They nailed the theme of the movie in a way that also makes you want to dance.”

Says Reynolds, “The song is a dichotomy in some ways, with sometimes heavy lyrics over pretty upbeat instrumentation. The result is a tone that is somewhat bittersweet, which felt appropriate given the complexity of Ralph as a character.”

“Zero” is now available from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records:

ABOUT THE MOVIE:

In “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of the arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internet where they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm and the heart and soul of the trend-making site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough-as-nails driver from a gritty online auto-racing game called Slaughter Race, a place Vanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had. Directed by Rich Moore (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph”) and Phil Johnston (co-writer “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Zootopia,” writer, “Cedar Rapids”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Bolt,” “Lilo & Stitch”), “Ralph Breaks the Internet” hits theaters on Nov. 21, 2018.

ABOUT IMAGINE DRAGONS:

Formed in 2009 and featuring lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman, Imagine Dragons earned a grassroots-following by independently releasing a series of EPs. After Alex Da Kid signed them to his KIDinaKORNER/ Interscope label, the band made its major-label debut with the release of Continued Silence, a 2012 EP featuring the 2x platinum breakthrough single ”It’s Time.” Night Visions arrived later that year and Imagine Dragons found themselves on a skyward trajectory that saw the album debut at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and became the No. 1 album on Spotify Worldwide for 2013. Night Visions has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. The album’s second single, the 10x-platinum ”Radioactive,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Rock chart and earned the band a 2014 GRAMMY for best rock performance. The third single, ”Demons,” hit No. 1 on Alternative and Top 40 radio, and has sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. Imagine Dragons’ platinum-selling second album, Smoke + Mirrors, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and has sold 1.1 million copies worldwide. The band’s third studio album, Evolve, was released June 2017 and went double platinum within a year of its release. The first single “Believer” topped the alternative radio chart for 12 weeks and the follow-up, “Thunder,” hit No.1 at alternative and top 40 radio.

GAL GADOT TO VOICE NEW CHARACTER SHANK IN
“RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET”

Gal Gadot (“Justice League,” “Wonder Woman”) revealed today that she is voicing the character Shank, a tough and talented driver in an intense and gritty online racing game called Slaughter Race, in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” which hits theaters this Thanksgiving.

You can view the announcements here: FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM

Ralph and Vanellope encounter Shank and her unusual cohorts when they venture to the internet in search of a replacement part for Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush. Shank, a tough-as-nails street racer, takes her role and her tricked-out car very seriously and doesn’t like to lose. When Vanellope finds herself in a street race with Shank, her Sugar Rush driving skills are put to the test—and Shank is impressed. “She is the coolest character in this world of Slaughter Race,” said director Rich Moore. “Shank’s lived a lot, she’s seen a lot, yet she’s got nothing but kindness in her heart—that’s the duality of that character.”

Said Gadot, “Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her. But as the movie goes on you realize how fun, wise and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her.”

According to director/writer Phil Johnston, Gadot adds extraordinary dimension to the character. “There’s so much texture to her voice and so much living in her voice,” he said. “If Ralph is Vanellope’s big-brother figure, we wanted a big-sister figure. We wanted someone that Vanellope would look up to, and Gal is definitely someone kids—and a lot of adults I know—aspire to emulate. I can’t imagine anyone else embodying that part.”

Shank’s approach to racing—and life in general—opens Vanellope’s eyes to the limitless possibilities of the internet and the excitement of a new world that feels like home to her. Featuring the voices of John C. Reilly as Ralph, and Sarah Silverman as Vanellope, “Ralph Breaks the Internet” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 21, 2018.

#MovieWednesday: Week 1 | Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Princess Diaries and Justice League

IMG_0554

Hey hey hey!! Happy Hump Day!

Today is dedicated to movies, movies and more movies. So, grab your popcorn and prepare for trailers, release dates, casting news, etc. I’m hoping to have some podcasts posted here as well, so if I can wrangle in some of my cohorts, those will be included on certain Wednesdays too.

I can’t complete my first #MovieWednesday without mentioning the new Star Wars trailer! Ho. Ly. Crap. Balls. The anticipation for this one is REAL! If you’re one of like five people who hasn’t seen it yet, you can watch it below:

Ahhhhhh!!! Were you as impressed and worried as I was?? I work with two Star Wars fanatics who are uber excited about the idea that Rey might turn to the dark side alongside Kylo Ren, but I refuse to accept this. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that perhaps she’s teaming up with Luke Skywalker and pretending to side with Kylo Ren in order to retaliate for (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!) killing Hans Solo. Think I’m reaching? You’re not the only one haha. Let me know what YOU thought!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released in theaters December 15, 2017 and tickets are available now!

PB1208[1]This is a rather random choice for #MovieWednesday, but who cares? It’s a movie! I’ve heard so many people talking about the 1987 film The Princess Bride, but I, personally, have never seen it. I decided to change that and I recorded it on my DVR last week. I finally sat down to watch it and realized that it wasn’t necessarily what I expected. It was odd, it was far-fetched, it was cute, it was romantic, it was funny and I liked it! Have you seen it before? Want me to shut up about it now? … As you wish …

One movie that I’m really excited about is Justice League! I don’t even think I need to give an explanation as to why! lol. I’m excited to see Jason Momoa embrace the role of Aquaman, and I’m stoked to see a female superhero (Wonder Woman) holding her own amongst some of the best male superheroes. I’m still a bit salty that Grant Gustin didn’t get to play The Flash in the film since he plays him so well on The CW, but I digress. Check out the newest trailer and let me know your feelings. Who are you most excited to see?

Movie Review by Kristin: WONDER WOMAN | #WonderWoman

IMG_8687

What’s up, movie lovers??

I got to see Wonder Woman last night and it’s no surprise that it’s already become one of the highest rated movies put out for DC Comics!

SYNOPSIS: Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny.

In a movie world where male superheroes dominate the big screen, I think Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman has put STRONG, beautiful women on the map!

There is no denying that Diana is a beautiful woman, but she’s so much more than that. She’s compassionate, she’s determined, and she’s a warrior. As I was sitting there watching this movie I thought of my 12-year-old niece and all of the other little girls who might now be able to understand that beautiful and strong can absolutely go hand in hand with one another.

IMG_8686

Overall I thought this was a solid release for the DC Universe. There were moments here and there where I felt like they were trying to remind viewers that she was a woman by having her get overly emotional when trying to persuade people to do what she felt was right. I don’t necessarily think that needed to be laid on so thick because it only allows male viewers to say, “Um, but yeah . . . women are all like that.” Being emotional is a way to show compassion, sure, but it was laid on pretty heavily in my opinion. Those moments made me want more of the strong-willed Diana discovering her true powers with no insight from anyone around her. There was some comedy sprinkled in amongst the action and I really think it was a perfect balance. I know some were a bit worried about how Gal Gadot would measure up in this iconic role, but I thought she really pulled it off! Chris Pine and the rest of the supporting cast were great too.

IMG_8772

Might I also add that this bad ass, female warrior movie was also directed by a woman! Wonder Woman is a movie that empowers women and young girls, and also proves that women can stack up just fine amongst a world of male superheroes.

With all of that being said, let me say that this movie relied heavily on CGI, but considering the fact that this is based on a comic book character, you kind of have to go into it knowing that a lot of the movie is fantasy-based. Also, my friends and I waited until after the credits and there was no extra snippet at the end . . . just an FYI lol.

So make plans with your girls (and guys) and catch Wonder Woman in theaters June 2nd. If you head out this weekend, let me know what you thought!
