THE 1975 TOUR | Review

Hey music fans!!  I’m back with another tour review and I’m excited about this one!

My niece introduced me to The 1975 a while back and I really enjoyed listening to them.  For Christmas this past year, her mom and I surprised her with tickets to see them live for the first time.  She was stoked (and so was I!), but had to wait until May 11 for the show. Talk about torture!

Anyway, last night was the show and it was held at Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Downtown Miami.  I’d never been to the venue, but I’d definitely go there again!

If you’re not familiar with The 1975, here’s a bit of info about them:

Hailing from Manchester, U.K., The 1975 is an alternative rock band clearly influenced by a wide range of musical styles.  The band consists of Matt Healy (lead singer and guitarist), George Daniel (drums, backing vocals), Adam Hann (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) and Ross MacDonald (bass, keyboard, backing vocals).  After releasing three EP’s over the course of their musical career, the band released their self-titled debut album, The 1975, in 2013 and their latest album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware, in 2016.

The show started at about 8 pm with Wolf Alice and The Japanese House as opening acts.  The 1975 came out and played non-stop until the very end.  Unfortunately, their drummer (George) was unable to play due to a broken shoulder, but the drummer from one of their opening acts saved the day and did a great job!  The sound at the venue was great, the crowd was energetic and the band seemed to play off of that.  One couple even got engaged during fallingforyou, which was cute.  Even the stage setup was great.  They had huge screens that lit up behind them to cover the entire stage, with their signature rectangles floating above them.  To sum it up, the show was great and I would definitely see them live again.

Since 2011, Internet Essentials has Connected 2.4 million Americans, or 600,000 low-income families, to the Internet at Home

PHILADELPHIA (March 24, 2016) — Comcast today announced a pilot program with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) ConnectHome initiative to attack the digital divide for public housing residents.  Eligibility for Internet Essentials, Comcast’s acclaimed, high-speed Internet adoption program, will be immediately extended to public housing residents in Miami-Dade County and the cities of Nashville, Philadelphia, and Seattle.  This is the eighth time in five years Comcast has expanded eligibility for Internet Essentials.

Also today, Comcast announced its latest Internet Essentials milestones.  In less than five years, the program has now connected more than 600,000 low-income families, benefitting more than 2.4 million Americans, to the Internet at home.  In fact, 2015 was the program’s single most successful year ever, with a 30 percent increase in enrollments over 2014.

Sean Diddy Combs, AKA Puff Daddy, is the definition of a mogul. As director of A&R at Uptown Records, he was integral in launching the careers of Mary J. Blige and Jodeci, and later started his own label, Bad Boy Records, which has fostered talent that includes Mariah Carey, Method Man, Boyz II Men, Lil’ Kim and more. Timbaland is an artist, record producer and songwriter who has had over 20 Grammy nominations and four wins for Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love” and Justin Timberlake’s “Love Stoned,” “Sexy Back” and “Pusher Love Girl.” Timbaland’s production credits include work with Jay-Z, Madonna, Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato and countless others. As a rapper, he released several albums with Magoo, but later released his debut solo album, “Tim’s Bio,” in 1998. In 2007, Timbaland released “Shock Value,” which was followed by “Shock Value II” in 2009. An accomplished musician, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray currently stars as “Hakeem Lyon” on the Golden Globe-nominated series EMPIRE, for which he has received a nomination in the NAACP category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He has performed at Jay-Z’s 2013 Man in America Festival, Sunoco’s Welcome America 4th of July Celebration, the annual Roots Picnic Festival, Philadelphia’s signature annual ODUNDE Celebration and Power 99’s 2013 Powerhouse concert. Actor, singer and songwriter Jussie Smollett currently stars as “Jamal Lyon” on EMPIRE, and can be heard on the Grammy Award-nominated, Billboard 200, No. 1-selling album, “EMPIRE: Original Soundtrack from Season 1.” He has received NAACP nominations for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” and “Outstanding New Artist,” among others. His film credits include “The Mighty Ducks,” “North,” “Born to Race: Fast Track,” “The Skinny” and more. He also starred with his five real-life siblings in the network comedy “On Our Own,” and has appeared on “Revenge” and “The Mindy Project.”

Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has transformed from teen viral sensation to major best-selling artist almost overnight. Mendes’ debut single, “Life Of The Party,” broke records, topping the iTunes Charts and selling more than 150,000 copies in its first week. The song made him the youngest artist ever to break into the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 25 with a debut single. Camila Cabello got her start as a part of the pop group Fifth Harmony, which has released multiplatinum hit singles “Worth It,” “Bo$$” and “Sledgehammer.” In 2015, Cabello released a collaboration with her friend, multiplatinum-selling artist Shawn Mendes, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which is currently Top 20 at Pop Radio. 2016 will see Cabello and Fifth Harmony release their highly anticipated sophomore album, the follow up to 2015’s “Reflection.” The talented vocalist and musician has grown from teen songwriter crafting emotional ballads in her bedroom to arena-rocking, chart-topping pop star.

Prince Royce wowed audiences this summer with the release of his first-ever English language album, “Double Vision,” featuring Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, Tyga and Kid Ink. MIAMI – Minion Mayhem is coming to Miami!  The lovable stars of the Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment summer blockbuster hit, Minions, will be at the Ford Championship Weekend from November 20-22, it was announced today by Homestead-Miami Speedway.  The three Minions – Kevin, Stuart and Bob — will be a fixture throughout Homestead-Miami Speedway, making appearances with fans and participating in the Ford EcoBoost 400 pre-race ceremonies on Sunday, November 22.   Minions will be released November 24 on Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD on December 8.

NBC News’ Anchor and “Today” Show co-host Hoda Kotb will serve as Grand Marshal at the Ford EcoBoost 400.  Ms. Kotb, the popular co-host of NBC’s “Today” fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford, is also a “Dateline NBC” correspondent and New York Times Bestselling author and has been at NBC since 1998.  She will give the command for drivers to start their engines prior to the Sprint Cup Series championship race on Sunday, November 22.

On Friday, July 24, to celebrate the release of Straight Outta Compton, a mural was unveiled at the famous art district of Wynwood in Miami. The mural was created by a talented group of Latino artists known as TATS CRU.

The mural honors several Miami artists that have made an impact in the world of music – specifically hip hop and rap as well as the film Straight Outta Compton.

Stars from the film, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Jason Mitchell, as well as original member of NWA, Ice Cube and director F. Gary Gray were on-site to personally check out the mural.

As word spread about the mural, Pitbull could not resist and visited the mural later that night to share photos with his fans on Facebook.  He also included a photo of the mural on Twitter.
