Choreographer Mandy Moore Talks LA LA LAND

Choreographer Mandy Moore Talks LA LA LAND

Written by Jesus Figueroa (@Thisfunktional)

Grand performances in “La La Land” choreographed by Mandy Moore gained notability through winning several awards and having numerous nominations throughout the 2016 award season.

Moore did much research into jazz, characters and even the dance level for the actors.

Having an understanding for each actor’s ability and they understanding of the characters and their desires made it easier to make the choreography flow and suitable for each scene.

The major scenes which show some the hardworking and dedication come from the start with a fantastically timed, well choreographed long scene which sets a fast detailed oriented pace to the entire movie.

Jazz is one of the more difficult genres to work with as it can be have a chaotic rhythm or go to a slower pace.

Each character has their style and rhythm and each song is original to the mood of each scene, Moore said. The ability to cooperate with fantastic actors, crew members and extras made the experience most enjoyable.

The Blu-ray comes with more than three hours of extras and behind-the-scenes footage which helps to better give viewers a look into all the hard work the crew and actors put into a film which has gotten many award.

In each project she learns new skills, Moore said. The ability to continue improving helps make each project memorable.

It was an incredible coincidence that such a fun project got so well received, Moore said. It just happened to workout that way and has added to the incredible journey the cast and crew has gone through.

Los Angeles proclaims “La La Land” day April 25, on the release of the Blu-ray and DVD.

Cast, Filmmakers Discuss Upcoming Film UNFORGETTABLE

Written by Jesus Figueroa (@Thisfunktional)

First time director Denis Di Novi sets a significant tone and mood for “Unforgettable” that the cast was thrilled to be a part of.

Katherine Heigl stars as Tessa Connover, who is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex-husband, David, played by Geoff Stults, becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks, played by Rosario Dawson, not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter, Lilly, played by Isabella Rice.

Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her.

But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare.

Di Novi explained how it was great working with two strong lead actresses and a lead actor who were able to collaborate and make the directing process easier.

Heigl explained how even though Di Novi was a first time director her career of producing quality work made it easy for the actors to trust her and follow her direction because she know what made a great movie.

The movie has moments of suspense which really rock the audience and have a major impact in the story, but it also has sensual moments which although sexy also drive the story and add to the characters.

Dawson talked about how the sex scenes are difficult to get right because most directors are trying to get angles to make it sexual and the purpose is lost, but Di Novi was able to keep it sexy and at the same time keep the purpose clear.

The pacing of the movie keeps the intensity high, although there are moments which seem to have slowed to an almost halt.

The story is still always present and continues moving in a pace which keeps the audiences glued to the screen.

The two female leads do a fantastic job at making the audience feel for them, Stults said. Dawson and Heigl made these characters feel real and that they could possibly exist in the real world.

From the beginning the characters are established and some of the more impressive moments is how they interact with each other during different occasions and when different people.

The ending is reminiscent of other movies from the same genre so its not overly surprising, but the actors in this movie do some of the best work and Dawson stands out in such a role which stands out among the other roles she is always seen in.

5 Ways to Win Back Your Love this Valentine’s Day

5 Ways to Win Back Your Love this Valentine’s Day

In honor of Valentine’s Day and the upcoming movie “You’re Killing Me Susana” starring Gael García Bernal and Verónica Echegui, hitting theaters on Feb. 17, we have a few ideas to help you get your love back.

When it comes to relationships and love, mistakes happen.

If you’re sitting at home pining for your love or conjuring up ways to get someone back in your life, take this five ideas from the movie and get ready for the road back to love.

One day, Eligio (Bernal) wakes up to find that his wife Susana (Echegui) has packed her bags for good.

She’s gone and has no intention of coming back, but he still decides to fight for his woman and follows her across the continent to win her love again.

Below are ways you can rekindle that flame, makeup
with your ex and spend Valentine’s Day together:

1. Enjoy a nice romantic dinner for two. Eligio wasn’t going to let his love move away without a word. A nice romantic feast is a great way to get back into someone’s good graces and belly.

2. Travel as far as you have to and win them back. Eligio’s love knows no borders, so when he has to travel a long distance, face extreme weather and a great culture shock, he does it without thinking twice because he knows Susana is worth it.

3. Defend them at all costs. When you love someone, you have to protect them as you’d protect the love they give you. Eligio travels thousands of miles to get Susana back, and even though she has found solace in the arms of another, he’s not going out without a fight.

4. Enjoy a long romantic walk together. Eligio’s boyish good looks and charm aren’t the only tricks up his sleeve. He knew that all he needed was time alone with Susana, so even a stroll through the neighborhood was long enough for them to remember the times when they first fell in love.

5. Take a spontaneous trip together. Remember, spontaneous trips often result in some of the best memories.

So what do you think? Does Eligio get his girl back? Don’t miss “You’re Killing Me Susana (Me Estás Matando Susana)” starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Verónica Echegui in theaters Feb. 17.

Gentrification in the Los Angeles neighborhood known as Boyle Heights, “Gente-Fied” takes a comical look into the lives of seven characters in Boyle Heights.

The series of shorts will have it’s world premiere on Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Sundance Film Festival in the Egyptian Theater in Park City, Utah.

Director and Co-creator Marvin Lemus said, “I wanted to make something that felt Chicano or Mexican-American. I can’t speak to any other experiences.”

The writing duo spent time in Boyle Heights getting to know the area better and the people of the area better.

The area is changing and gentrification may seem like its making things better, but the response from the people who live there is mixed.

Some people are welcoming, mostly the millennials, some are struggling, these are older people, not just to keep up with the time, but to keep up with the cost of living going up.

“To me it’s important to speak to my truths, to my experience, and be as specific as possible,” Lemus said. “I chose Boyle Heights because I was familiar with the changes that was happening in the area where I was living, the Hollywood area. At the time I learned about ‘genie-fication’ which was happening in Boyle Heights.”

The chance to tell stories from the perspective from several different people that can be found in the Boyle Heights area.

It’s seven stories which help people not in Boyle Heights understand the difference in opinion people of the area are having and how diverse this community is.

“There’s so many latino projects which come out and they don’t work, they try to make latino communities one community and that still doesn’t work, that’s just not the case. Latino identities are many,” Lemus said.

Lemus is thrilled to be having Macro Ventures support the project and executive producers Charles D. King, Aaliyah Williams and America Ferrera supporting the project, but hopes that after Sundance there could be a possibility to expand on the project and develop it into a series or a film.

Golden Globe Nominated NERUDA Opens in Theaters Dec. 16

Golden Globe Nominated NERUDA Opens in Theaters Dec. 16

It’s 1948 and the Cold War has reached Chile.

In congress, Senator (and renowned poet) Pablo Neruda (Gnecco) accuses the government of betraying the Communist Party and is swiftly impeached by the president.

Police Prefect Oscar Peluchonneau (Bernal) is assigned to arrest the poet.

Neruda tries to flee the country with his wife, the painter Delia del Carril, but they are forced into hiding, where Neruda writes his epic collection of poems, “Canto General.”

In Europe, the legend of the poet hounded by the policeman grows, and artists led by Pablo Picasso clamor for Neruda’s freedom.

Neruda sees this struggle with his nemesis Peluchonneau as an opportunity to reinvent himself and he sets about playing games with the inspector, leaving clues designed to make their conflict more dangerous and more intimate.

In this story of a persecuted poet and his implacable adversary, Neruda recognizes his own heroic possibilities: a chance to become both a symbol for liberty and a literary legend.
