Universal Studios Hollywood have prepared for their #UniversalHolidays with Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, going on now through January 6, 2019 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Visit “Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter,”which runs daily from November 17, 2018 through January 6, 2019 for an array of changes to the already magical Hogmade.

A nightly glistening snowfall to enhance yuletide spirits falls over the main street at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with multiple snowfalls begin at 5:15 p.m. until the park closes.

The snowfall is enjoyable as visitors of the park get the opportunity to see snow fall in Los Angeles.

It may be a brief snowfall, but it is still incredible to experience and enhances the wonder which is already a part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

A newly introduced holiday-themed fare and the addition of hot Butterbeer, which was introduced earlier this year, at Three Broomsticks makes for a wonderful dinner before enjoying the beautiful additions to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The a cappella Frog Choir featuring Hogwarts students entertaining guests with their harmonized holiday themed songs perform and are great to watch before The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle light show.

The music by the a cappella Frog Choir is a fabulous show which every visitor of Universal can enjoy.

The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle dazzling light spectacular goes on nightly as Universal Studios celebrates the #UniversalHolidays at about 5:40 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (times may vary each night).

The light show at Hogwarts Castle is always breath-taking, but for the holidays it seems a bit more magical.

The Christmas time light show completes the package of Holiday treats, the video may show the light show, but there is nothing like being there in person and experiencing it first-hand.

Being surrounded by hundreds of Harry Potter fans all in awe of the brilliant show.

Then head over to the shops at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a wide selection of custom-made Christmas ornaments created especially for the Wizarding World.

The wonderful ornaments carry the crests of the Hogwarts houses and will go beautifully on any Christmas tree or to decorate around the house.

Zoe Saldana’s Cinestar Pictures to Join Judging Panel for Voces Nuevas

Cine Sony, Sony Pictures Television’s premier movie channel for the bi-cultural U.S. Latino audience, and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) announced the launch of Voces Nuevas, their inaugural short film contest for aspiring filmmakers throughout the U.S.  on November 13.

Through January 31, 2019, filmmakers age eighteen or over who reside in the U.S. are invited to submit short films from two to 20 minutes in length.

Judges reviewing submissions include actor and co-founder of Cinestar Pictures Zoe Saldana; Cinestar Pictures co-founders Cisely and Mariel Saldana; award-winning actor and producer Esai Morales; award-winning actress, producer and activist Lisa Vidal and senior creative executives from Sony Pictures Entertainment Worldwide Acquisitions and Screen Gems.

“Cine Sony is delighted to partner with NALIP to provide a platform to champion the talent and creativity of up-and-coming filmmakers in the U.S.,” Jeff Meier, Senior Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Networks, Sony Pictures Television, said. “On Cine Sony, we have a diverse array of entertainment content from comedies to action movies that reflects the varied interests of our Latino audience. With Voces Nuevas, we are continuing that commitment to showcase the diverse perspectives of aspiring content creators with different backgrounds and experiences.”

Voces Nuevas aims to discover and celebrate emerging film talent while providing a new resource for content development.

Entrants will compete for the chance to win $10,000 plus airfare and accommodations for up to five nights in Los Angeles for the opportunity to meet with Sony Pictures Television executives there.

The winner will also be awarded a scholarship to the 2019 NALIP Media Summit.

“NALIP is a prominent supporter of Latinx inclusion, a crucial and vital element in progressive entertainment and media. NALIP is thrilled to collaborate with the Cine Sony short film contest, ‘Voces Nuevas’. We believe this partnership will give Latinx filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their films to a wider range of audiences,” Ben Lopez, Executive Director for NALIP, said.

“My sisters Cisely, Mariel and I are thrilled to be judging the first annual Voces Nuevas film contest,” Zoe Saldana said. “Every opportunity to amplify Hispanic voices and stories is a further step toward empowering a community that significantly contributes to the cultural vibrancy of America.”

Universal Studios Hollywood is off to the races with its all-new “Running Universal,” a series of fun runs that kicks off with an energetic Minion–themed 5K on May 11, 2019.

The inaugural Minion Run, featuring Illumination’s mischievous Minions from the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride, invites participants ages five and older (of all experience levels) to wind their way around Universal Studios Hollywood and through parts of Universal Studios’ historic backlot, made famous in more than8,000 movies and television shows.

The run will give participants an unprecedented insider’s view of the Entertainment Capital of L.A.

Starting at Universal Studios Hollywood’s iconic front gates, participants will pass through some of the theme park’s immersive areas and attractions before winding their way along the historic backlot and into the magical world of movie-making as they head toward the finish line at CityWalk’s 5 Towers outdoor concert stage.

Along the 3.1 mile course, participants will be entertained by some of their favorite Universal Studios Hollywood characters including the Minions.

The program will begin at 6 a.m. and culminate at 7:30 a.m. with a memorable awards and closing ceremony.

Para ellos, Santi es la luz de sus ojos, y están obligados a verse de vez en cuando, ya que comparten el tiempo de su hijo. Un día reciben la noticia de que Santi debe someterse a una cirugía la cual puede cambiarle la vida por completo. Así que éste hace una lista de deseos para cumplirlos junto con sus dos padres, antes de la operación. Es así, que Rodrigo y Alejandra se verán forzados a aprender a convivir de nuevo, embarcándose (sin sospecharlo) en un viaje lleno de aventuras, que al final,  hará que sea muy difícil separarse de nuevo y verán el panorama de una manera diferente.

“Silencio” highlights a mysterious area in Mexico known as the Zone of Silence that has true events of the eerie.

Located on the same parallel line of the Bermuda Triangle and the Pyramids of Giza, it has several events of the unexplainable including rocket crashes, mutations in plants and animals, meteorite strikes and much more.

“Silencio” shares the story of Ana, (Melina Matthews) who struggles to save her son’s life.

She must find a powerful stone her grandfather (John Noble) originally discovered with his apprentice (Rupert Graves) in the Zone of Silence in 1970.

Throughout her desperate search, Ana stumbles upon long lost family secrets and discovers enemies who believe the stone’s power is worth killing for.

Written, directed and produced by Lorena Villarreal, Denisse Chapa (producer) and filmed in Zone of Silence and northern Mexico locations, the film brings to life the local tales of strange occurrences that have been happening for decades.

The unique look of actor Javier Botet made him a perfect fit for the lead role of slender man in Sony Pictures’ “Slender Man.”

Having made an impact in the horror genre as the actor behind several monsters in movie franchises, Botet wasn’t surprised to be offered the role of Slender man, but he was thrilled at the opportunity to play a monster that is widely known.

Having known the legend of Slender man, Botet felt that his experience in the horror industry and his look being so similar to that of what Slender man is supposed to look like, he was the ideal person to embody the character.

All horror movies look to cast the best person to play the monsters and the search for slender man lead to Botet who already had the physique for the character.

No horror movie is complete without the right cast, the characters that are stalked by the Slender man are fantastically casted and create the realistic feeling of friendship.

Botet had to go through a makeup process to get the look down, but feels that the story is much more than what the source material was and the character was already larger than life.

With so much source material – from shorts and indie films to a documentary on crimes attributed to Slender man – the makeup helped make the character, but the background research and the writing made the character what it was in the movie, Botet learned many things about the legend of Slender man which added pressure to the task of playing the role of Slender man.

Being over prepared made the task of playing Slender man in a terrifying manner difficult but enjoyable, Botet said, but the prior experience as the monsters he has embodied made him feel prepared to take on the task of Slender man.

“SHINE” is a NY-set Salsa dance movie which tells the story of two Puerto Rican brothers, Ralphi Matas (Jorge Burgos) and Junior (Gilbert Saldivar), from New York’s Spanish Harlem and the street’s best Salsa dancers, are separated after a tragedy only to reunite years later on opposing sides of gentrification.

After 7 years of absence from New York City, Ralphi is back to develop commercial real estate in his old neighborhood. However, upon his return, Ralphi encounters his estranged brother, Junior, who followedin his father’s footsteps, Ramon Matas (David Zayas), and is now an elite salsa dancer and an unwavering activist AGAINST gentrification in the neighborhood.

While having to face his past in order to succeed in the present, Ralphi must confront his boss Linda (Alysia Reiner) who is aggressively pursuing the lucrative development deal that brought him back to the city he was born, and thus is driving the wedge even further between him and his brother.

On the other side, when Josie (Kimberli Flores), the new owner of their father’s dance studio, reveals she is behind on the mortgage payments. Junior rallies the local dance community to raise funds against all odds to save the dance studio, DESPITE the gentrification efforts of his brother.

While the brothers have chosen opposite paths thus far, they are brought back together when Tio Julio (Nelson Gonzales) reminds them of the power of family and the importance of their community.

“The Predator” is now in theaters, actor Boyd Holbrook was honored to be part of the film and found that working with director Shane Black to be a different experience.

Although Holbrook said he enjoys doing action films, he really gets going when he is able to do character work and dive into a role with niche unique stories.

Being part of a cast that continues a fan favorite franchise like that of the Predator franchise brought Holbrook a great opportunity to live a dream of his.

Holbrook said the character of McKenna gave him an opportunity to play a Harrison Ford or Clint Eastwood type character, which he has been a fan of.

McKenna is a character which starts off as a lone wolf and gets thrown into a dysfunctional group of heroes that are the underdogs, which when put up against the predators any human warrior would be an underdog.

With the unpredictability of director Shane Black, Holbrook said it was a fun experience to be part of the amazing group of heroes, nicknamed The Loonies, of “The Predator.”

The Loonies was a strange group of soldiers that are under psychological treatment which brought comical moments.

Holbrook said that it was hard to keep a straight face with this group because they were all very funny and it was fun to be around the group while on set.

The group quickly go from being strangers who happen to be put together on a bus as they are being transported to a group of soldiers who are on a mission and Holbrook said that they all collaborated well and they were all very well cast.

The film had scenes, such as McKenna’s return home, which were highly improvised and written on the spot keeping the film being a cooperative process.

Holbrook said that if there is a sequel he would enjoy coming back and being the main warrior again, which with the ending of “The Predator” the audience knows exactly in what role he would want his character to take.
