LAIKA, the animation studio behind the Academy Award® nominated Kubo and the Two Strings, The Boxtrolls, ParaNorman, and Coraline, announces its fifth and most ambitious film to date: MISSING LINK. The title, U.S. release date (Spring, 2019) and complete cast details were revealed by LAIKA President & CEO Travis Knight as he prepares to meet with foreign buyers at the Cannes Film Festival. Missing Link will be distributed in the U.S. by Annapurna Pictures. AGC International, the sales and distribution division of AGC Studios, is handling international sales.

SYNOPSIS: The charismatic Sir Lionel Frost (voiced by Hugh Jackman) considers himself to be the world’s foremost investigator of myths and monsters. The trouble is none of his small-minded high-society peers seems to recognize this. Sir Lionel’s last chance for acceptance by the adventuring elite rests on traveling to America’s Pacific Northwest to prove the existence of a legendary creature. A living remnant of Man’s primitive ancestry. The Missing Link.

Zach Galifianakis is Mr. Link: the slightly silly, surprisingly smart and soulful beast upon whom Sir Lionel’s dreams depend. As species go, he’s as endangered as they get; he’s the last of his kind, and he’s lonely. Proposing a daring quest to seek out his rumored distant relatives, he enlists Sir Lionel’s help in an odyssey around the world to find the fabled valley of Shangri-La.

Together with Adelina Fortnight (voiced by Zoe Saldana), an independent and resourceful adventurer who possesses the only known map to the group’s secret destination, the unlikely trio embarks on a riotous rollercoaster of a ride. Along the way, our fearless explorers encounter more than their fair share of peril, stalked at every turn by dastardly villains seeking to thwart their mission. Through it all, Mr. Link’s disarming charm and good-humored conviction provide the emotional and comedic foundation of this fun-filled family film.

Deadpool will come to stores through a first-of-its-kind augmented reality (AR) in-store experience, movie ticket prizes, and exclusive Deadpool-themed products (chimichangas included).

Deadpool figurine that can only be found at 7-Eleven stores.

For super-fans who want to take it to the next level: “Meet Deadpool” via the 7-Eleven mobile app. The new AR experience literally brings Deadpool into the store, engaging customers with new surprise activities each week and the chance to win prizes including movie tickets, a trip to Las Vegas and more.

By scanning the 7-Eleven app at checkout, customers can earn 7Rewards® loyalty program points and enter a contest for a chance to win prizes such as movie tickets, a trip to Las Vegas and more. But the biggest news is the in-store AR that invites Deadpool fans to engage in fun virtual activities (new ones each week) to earn 7Rewards bonus points.

An all-out war ensues as Bruce (Brian Huskey) and his band of cholos challenge the crew of Taco Dollar for taco supremacy. TACO SHOP also stars Carlos Alazraqui (“Elena of Avalor”), Dan Bakkedahl (“VEEP”), Eric Roberts (The Expendables), and Brian Huskey (“Bob’s Burgers”).

SYNOPSIS: When a gourmet taco truck threatens the existence of Taco Dollar, an angered employee named Smokes unites co-workers and a hilarious all-out war ensues.

Elephant rescues in Thailand are rare, unpredictable and often life threatening. After waiting over 2 years, actor/director Ashley Bell and a team of elephant rescuers led by world renowned Asian elephant conservationist and TIME Magazine’s Hero of Asia, Sangdeaun Lek Chailert, embark on a daring mission to rescue Noi Na, a 70-year old partially blind trekking elephant and bring her 500 miles across Thailand to freedom.

African elephants are slaughtered for their ivory, but sadly the plight of the Asian Elephant has been completely overlooked even though they are the elephant we are most familiar with in zoos, circuses and elephant rides. Love & Bananas: An Elephant Story exposes the cruel secret that every Asian elephant has had to endure to become a service animal; a process known as Pajan, aka The Crush Box. Love & Bananas: An Elephant Story aims to ignite a new way of thinking about this species and shows what can be done to prevent the extinction of Asian elephants.

 

Man! I had the chance to watch this last night. It has to be one of the best documentary’s I’ve seen in a long time. LOVE & BANANAS: AN ELEPHANT STORY definitely took me on a roller coaster of emotions.

Sadness. Anxiety. Happiness.

Everyone involved in this mission is awesome!! Lek is a BEAST!!! This little lady here…AMAZING. Shoutouts to Ashley Bell and her team for bringing this to the screen.

In “Peter Pan,” fantastic adventures await the Darling children—Wendy, John and Michael—when Peter Pan, the hero of their stories, whisks them away to the magical world of Never Land.  After flying with Peter and the delightfully impish Tinker Bell past the “second star to the right and straight on till morning,” they explore the enchanted island and Peter’s secret hideout with the Lost Boys, and leap into high-flying battles with swashbuckling pirates and the infamous villain Captain Hook.

When they arrive, she discovers her father had built a fortress designed with impenetrable security.  As she wonders why, criminals force their way in, lock her out of the house and hold her children hostage, demanding the contents of a safe.

Initially feeling powerless, Shaun’s maternal instincts kick in and she gets physical as she figures out a way to outwit her children’s captors.

When the ringleader tells her she is “a woman alone at the mercy of strangers,” she becomes determined to prove them wrong and find a way into the house to save her kids and herself from what looks to be certain death, even if she cooperates with the thieves.

SYNOPSIS: A young man living a sheltered life develops a crush on a stripper and joins her AA group just so he can be in the same room with her.

The movie stars Nick Robinson, Rosario Dawson, Grant Gustin, William Fichtner, Kathy Bates, Felicity Huffman, Jacob Latimore, Rick Fox, T.I. and William H. Macy (who also directs the film). I mean . . . what a cast!!

Ryan Coogler Comes On Board As Executive Producer

Production began yesterday in Philadelphia on Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM) and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Creed II, starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, reprising their roles of Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa respectively. Creed II is the continuation of the Rocky saga and sequel to the 2015 critically acclaimed and crowd-pleasing 2015 hit Creed, which took in more than $170 million at the worldwide box office. Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), who directed the first film, returns to the franchise as an executive producer on Creed II. The new film is being directed by Steven Caple Jr., who helmed the acclaimed 2016 drama The Land.

“When I wrote and directed Creed, I wanted to tell a human story about a family from a new perspective, while also paying homage to the Rocky characters we’ve all grown up knowing and loving. I’ve known Steven was an amazing filmmaker since our days at USC film school together, so I can’t wait to see what he, Sly, Mike and Tessa bring to this next chapter,” said Coogler.

Caple Jr. said, “It’s an honor to be a part of the franchise and work with such a thoughtful team. I got involved because I’ve always been a Rocky fan and I enjoy stories with heart and substance. But when Ryan put his touch on Creed I felt another level of connection to the franchise. It started to feel personal for many different reasons. This next Creed is a tale beyond the boxing ring and dives deep into family, legacy, and fears. I’m excited to share my view and collaborate with the talented cast and crew.”

“Ryan and Steven are voices for their generation and their shared vision for Creed has brought the Rocky franchise to an entirely new audience. We know audiences will continue to embrace the legacy that Sly created so many years ago,” said producer Irwin Winkler.

SYNOPSIS: Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.

Also reprising their roles from the first film are Tessa Thompson as Bianca, Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne, Wood Harris as Tony ‘Little Duke’ Burton, and Andre Ward as Danny ‘Stuntman’ Wheeler. The new cast is rounded out with Florian “The Big Nasty” Munteanu as Viktor Drago, Dolph Lundgren returning to the role of Ivan Drago, and Russell Hornsby as Buddy Marcelle. Creed II will be distributed theatrically in the U.S. by MGM on November 21, 2018, and Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film internationally.

Caple Jr. directs from an original screenplay written by Stallone based on characters from the Rocky franchise. The film is produced by Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Kevin King-Templeton and Stallone. Coogler, Jordan and Guy Riedel will executive produce.

Collaborating with Caple Jr. is a creative team led by director of photography Kramer Morgenthau (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones); production designer Franco Carbone (The Expendables, Billionaire Boys Club); costume designers Lizz Wolf (A Single Man, Dreamgirls); art director Jesse Rosenthal (Black Panther, Trumbo); fight coordinator Daniel Hernandez (Avengers: Infinity War, The Fate of the Furious); technical boxing advisor Robert Sale (Grudge Match, Ali); special effects coordinator Patrick White (Baby Driver, Deepwater Horizon) and VFX producer Crystal Dowd (Straight Outta Compton, Pitch Perfect 2). Filming will take place primarily in Philadelphia with additional locations in New Mexico.

Creed, directed by Coogler, was released by Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema in November 2015 and went on to garner many honors for Stallone, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.

TOD_Tsr1Sheet_RGB_1Get ready for a creepy tale on Friday the 13th! “Truth or Dare” arrives in theaters to scare your pants off in April.

The movie is produced by horror movie mastermind Jason Blum, whose company Blumhouse Productions was behind the 2017 blockbusters “Get Out” and “Split.”

In this new supernatural thriller, a harmless game of “Truth or Dare” among a group of college friends turns deadly when someone – or something – begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare.

The film, directed by Jeff Wadlow (“Kick-Ass 2”), stars Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”), Tyler Posey (“Teen Wolf”), Violett Beane (“The Flash”), Sophia Taylor Ali (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Nolan Gerard Funk (MTV’s “Awkward”), and Hayden Szeto.

If you like sinister, creepy and hair-raising flicks, you probably don’t want to miss this one. A look at the movie trailer promises to keep your heart racing and adrenaline pumping – a signature effect of Blum films.

Blum has developed the perfect formula for success, turning small budget films into a horror movie gold mine with such hits as “Insidious,” “The Purge,” “Happy Death Day,” “Unfriended,” “Sinister,” and “Creep,” which have grossed over $2 billion worldwide. His first big hit, “Paranormal Activity” was his biggest profit-maker. Produced with a $15,000 budget, it made more than $193 million worldwide.

Why are his movies such a big success? Because he loves horror movies – when they’re well done.

“A lot of horror movies get made by people who don’t really like them, so they don’t respect them,” says Blum.

Even though he usually produces his films for less than $5 million, he always tries to deliver a great story with compelling characters and good acting.

“Horror is great storytelling with scary elements on top of it, but if you don’t have great storytelling, you can have all the scares in the world, but the movie won’t work.”
