SHINE brings actor David Zayas memories of the New York culture

Actor David Zayas find “Shine” gives an authentic view of New York while it puts the culture of the streets of New York prominently against the destruction gentrification brings.

With “Shine” coming to theaters October 5, Zayas finds that the music and story drive a message of balancing tradition and culture with modernization and improvement.

As an actor with a long list of film and TV credits, Zayas saw that “Shine” was well written by Anthony Nardolillo and an exciting story.

Zayas thought that the story resonated with him because it brought back memories of growing up in New York and how proud the Hispanics of New York are of their culture. Some of the scenes of the movie were filmed in neighborhoods that he grew up in.

“Shine” gave Zayas the opportunity to step away from darker roles he has played, and is known for, to take on a role which has heart and which he said he was honored to get to play.

The film co-stars Gilbert Saldivar and Jorge Burgos. Zayas said that the two actors were respectful and worked hard to give the best performance they possibly could.

“Viva La Tradicion” has paid tribute to many of Mexico’s biggest icons, this year they pay homage to late Jose “Pepe” Martinez of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, who pioneered mariachi music in the U.S.

On August 8 and 9, Pepe Martinez Jr. helps to pay tribute to his father by bringing Mariachi Angeles de Pepe Martinez Jr. to perform the classic music of his father.

Pepe Jr. said that its going to be sentimental because he will be playing the music his father wrote and organized, music he has been listening to since he was a young child.

Mariachi music has helped keep the traditional music from Mexico alive.

The tradition of mariachi music spans many years and can include music from various genres.

Founder Susie Garcia said that she looked up to Pepe Martinez because of the strong presence he gave Mariachi music world wide and its about time that he is paid tribute.

The partnership between Garcia and Pepe Jr. come together for the incredible “Viva La Tradition” two day event.

Pepe Jr. will be able to showcase music he has held close to his heart and have a special performance where he will share the stage with his late father in a special way.

Pepe Jr. said he will do a song, “A Mi Manera,” “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, where he will sing with along side the voice of his late father.

Garcia said that after the past “Viva La Tradition” sold out and the fact that this is an event for the family to enjoy together, it was only logical to have two nights.

Mariachi Ángeles de Pepe Martínez Jr.
For more than 30 years, Jose “Pepe” Martínez Jr. has lived on stage inspired by the gift of music introduced to him as a young boy. His biggest teacher and mentor was his own father, most affectionately known as Don Pepe. With 25 years as a leading member of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, Pepe Jr. now brings his experience, professionalism and leadership to his new group Mariachi Ángeles.

Steeven Sandoval is a ranchera music singer who was a shining star in two of the best mariachis of the world: Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán founded by Don Pepe Martínez.
Steeven is considered one of the most iconic voices in mariachi music and is best known for his classic renditions of “Por Amor,” “A Los Cuatro Vientos,” and “Te Huberias Ido Antes,” among others.

Las Colibrí or “The Hummingbirds” has a passion for music, beauty, and girl power. This all-female group is flying into new territory as one of the most unique ensembles of its genre by returning to the all-string instrumentation of the early 20th century mariachi tradition and the colorful, feminine costumes of the Mexican cinematic divas of the ’40s and ’50s.

Ballet Folklorico Ollín is a nonprofit cultural organization founded in 1972 with the primary goal of preserving and interpreting the diverse cultural beauty of México re-created here in California through music, dance and folk traditions

Mariachi Jaguares De Mendez High School are comprised of LAUSD students with great enthusiasm and love for Mexican tradition and boasts a very inclusive ensemble, proving that the most severely disabled can also demonstrate their passion for mariachi music.

Comedies can be stressful to film, but actress Marimar Vega found that working with the passionate actors in “La Boda de Valentina” was fun.
Romantic comedies are often silly for the people to watch, but Vega said that having an accomplished comedian like Omar Chaparro on set made the filming as funny as the movie and her other co-star Ryan Carnes was a joy to work with as well because he was always prepared and the three co-stars always had fun.
Vega said Chaparro would keep the set very light as he was always singing and having fun when they had downtime on set.
While not many films from Mexico make it into the big screen in the U.S., “La Boda de Valentina has seen success in theaters in Mexico and wide release as well as home entertainment release.
Now, “La Boda de Valentina” comes to streaming service PantaYa, where even more people have an opportunity to enjoy the film.
Vega said that actors want a wide variety of people to enjoy their projects and it’s been amazing how well received the film was in theaters, the response it has had on blu-ray and now even more people will have a chance to view the film and hopefully enjoy it as well.
In this romantic comedy, Mexican-born Valentina (Marimar Vega), with the perfect life in the United States, accepts boyfriend Jason’s (Ryan Carnes) marriage proposal. 
But when he suggests the wedding take place in Mexico, the decision unleashes a cultural clash between the groom’s family – the perfect Tates – and the  the Hidalgos – the bride’s family and the most chaotic and surrealist political dynasty in the history of Mexico. 
It gets even messier when Valentina’s ex – the charismatic Angel (Omar Chaparro) – resurfaces and tries to reinsert himself in her life, competing with Jason for her love and attention.

Becky G and Neustaedter talk about having fun while on the set and there possibly being some kind of artificial intelligence like A.X.L. as soon as 5 years from now. Becky G talked about growing up dirt bike and ATV riding, while Neustaedter found an appreciation for motocross because of this role.

In the vein of classic ’80s family movies “SHORT CIRCUIT” and “FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR,” “A.X.L.” is a new adventure about a down-on-his luck teenage bike rider, Miles (Alex Neustaedter), who stumbles upon an advanced, robotic, military dog named A.X.L. Endowed with next-generation artificial intelligence but with the heart of a dog, A.X.L. forms an emotional bond with Miles, much to the chagrin of the rogue military scientists who created A.X.L. and would do anything to retrieve him. Knowing what is at stake if A.X.L. gets captured, Miles teams up with his smart, resourceful crush, Sara (BeckyG), to protect his new best friend on a timeless, epic adventure for the whole family.

Inspired by Universal’s original cinematic Monsters and the studio that invented the horror film, Universal Studios Hollywood unearths an all-new “Halloween Horror Nights” maze based on the original “Universal Monsters”…with a terrifying contemporary twist on these classic horror icons.The new maze will also feature an original score produced and composed by celebrated GRAMMY® Award-winning musician SLASH, long hailed as one of the 10 best electric guitar-players of all time.

“Halloween Horror Nights” begins on September 14.

At its core, “Halloween Horror Nights” is an extension of the horror film legacy originated by Universal Pictures and introduced to audiences in the 1920s…with a staple of classic Universal Monsters that dominated the silver screen, including Dracula, The Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein’s Monster and The Wolf Man.

“Halloween Horror Nights” continues to pay homage to these creatures of the night in this new maze by reawakening more than a dozen of these iconic classic Monsters.

The essence of the maze will underscore each of their unique attributes and reimagine them into terrifying modern day characters.

At a glance, resurrected monsters will include The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man, The Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, Dracula’s Bride, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Bride of Frankenstein and The Mummy, to name a few.By giving each character a unique, complex composition, SLASH’s original score will add a haunting dimension to the experience and help define each of the characters.

“As a fan of horror movies and of ‘Halloween Horror Nights,’ I jumped at the chance to once again collaborate with Universal Studios Hollywood to produce what might be interpreted as a soundtrack for the maze,” SLASH said. “Similar to the way music affects afilm, I wanted to compose a score for the legions of infamous characters featured in the maze to elicit a greater sense of terror for the guests. SHINE Set To Release Nationwide on October 5th

Forgiven Films Announces SHINE Release Date, Trailer and Film Poster

Forgiven Films, a division of GVN Releasing, launched the first full-length trailer and film poster for “SHINE” on August 21.

The Latin dance drama stars “Dexter’s” David Zayas, “Orange Is the New Black’s” Alysia Reiner and world-renowned dancers Gilbert Saldivar as well as Jorge “Ataca” Burgos.

The film will be released in theaters nationwide on October 5.

“SHINE” won the audience award for best feature at last year’s Urbanworld Film Festival.

The story revolves around two brothers (Saldivar and Burgos), once celebrated Salsa dancers, who are separated after a tragedy only to be reunited years later on opposing sides of gentrification.

The film was directed and written by Anthony Nardolillo, via his 13 Paces Productions and produced with Sandra Varona of Varona Productions, in partnership with Sugar Studios LA and The Exchange.

Beginning on September 14, “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers,” from Trancas International Films, takes a stab at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, bringing the notorious slasher to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort in all-new mazes inspired by the iconic horror film.

Based on the fourth installment in the classic slasher series created by John Carpenter, the mazes will transport guests to the suburban town of Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night where Myers has escaped Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and is hungry for revenge.

This time, he relentlessly stalks his niece Jamie as his next victim, stopping at nothing to kill her.

Halloween fanatics can expect a cameo by Myer’s psychiatrist Dr. Loomis and other famous characters from the film as they try to escape the bloodbath.

Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort will bring guests “into the light” as part of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights events featuring terrifying new mazes inspired by Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures’ (MGM) iconic supernatural horror film “Poltergeist”, beginning September 14. Directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist garnered critical and consumer success when it first premiered in 1982.

Characterized as one of the scariest films of all time, this groundbreaking movie paved the way for a new era of supernatural ghost stories that will come to life for the first time ever at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

This living representation of the film will take guests into some of its most iconic scenes and encounter memorable characters that spawned their first true nightmares. The mazes will lure guests to the Freeling family house built atop a cemetery where malicious ghosts threaten the lives within.

From the underground graveyard to ghostly apparitions, guests will come face to face with infamous scenes from the film, including the iconic flickering TV screen, menacing Beast from beyond and pool filled with floating corpses. As guests cross into the ‘light,’ they will find themselves surrounded by a surreal landscape of vanishing walls, floating furniture and a creepy clown with a menacing smile. In addition to this year’s maze line-up, Hollywood Harry, the notorious serial killer clown that terrorized Universal’s famed backlot, returns as the host of this year’s Terror Tram.

In anthological fashion, “Terror Tram: Hollywood Harry’s Dreadtime Storiez” will take unwitting guests on a frightening journey through five demented tales, featuring vicious dog-faced men, inbred cannibals, creepy clowns,sadistic scarecrows and a terrifying torture factory where nightmares come to life.

Unique to Universal Studios Hollywood, the Terror Tram enables “Halloween Horror Nights” guests to walk along an area of the famed movie and television studio, where such sets as the Psycho House and the Bates Motel from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller and Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, are located.

El jueves 26 de julio, 2018 Curacao presentó un cheque con dicha donación a la Cruz Roja Americana en su tienda de Los Ángeles.

Durante más de 35 años, Curacao ha ayudado a la comunidad latina a fortalecer sus vínculos con los Estados Unidos a través de sus productos y servicios.

También apoyan a la comunidad a través de la Fundación Curacao, con iniciativas que van desde la ayuda a las familias necesitadas a permitir que la próxima generación prospere a través de becas.

A new exciting season of MasterChef brings Chef Aaron Sanchez to the MasterChef kitchen and this season sees the judges in the role of mentors.
Sanchez comes back with more experience and confidence to compete with the other judges.

“It feels great to be back on the show with a whole new round of home cooks competing for the title,” Sanchez said. “I’ve really honed my ability to be a mentor through this show and feel like I am part of a family with the cast and crew, so it’s great to be back again this season.”

There is a new dynamic with judges now acting as mentors, this changes the way judges/mentors do their judging.
Having the competition aspect between the judges/mentors gets a larger investment into the home cooks, especially the team the judges/mentors build.

“This new element is so much fun because Joe, Gordon and myself are now competing with each other. I still have to be as unbiased as possible when judging, but it is really hard when someone on my team lets me down, but on the flip side it makes it that much better when someone really succeeds,” Sanchez said. “Being a mentor has been so fulfilling and it’s great to take this journey with the contestants and impart as much knowledge on them as I possibly can. It definitely deepens my investment because I put my own name on the line for all my team members and it really reflects on my judgement when they fail or rise to the top.”

The friendship between the judges has always been apparent, so has the friendly rivalry, but as the judges now go head-to-head the excitement is increased.
The judges get to be a bigger part of the success of the home cooks that join the show.

“Well, we always had fun but now we are really playing around with taking digs at each other and fighting for our team to win,” Sanchez said. “Is there anything else that will surprise audiences in what remains of the season? I mean the challenges are just getting more and more difficult as the show progresses and we put these home cooks under extreme pressure. The real life experiences are getting so authentic and there are so many shocking moments as to who rises to the occasion and who falls flat.”

The season really becomes more competitive, both for the home cooks and the chefs as the seasons comes to the finale.
The home cooks get pushed to be their best and even rise to the occasion.
But, as Sanchez sees this season through to the end, he looks to continue to help people realize their culinary dreams.

“I have the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund and this is really another place where I get to empower cooks through education and mentorship,” Sanchez said. “I am extremely passionate about helping the next generation of Latino and Latina chefs rise up and become the next wave of culinary leaders.
